I fell in love with Thousand Hills the moment I walked in. The decor is so beautiful and there are so many comfy places to sit as well as tables inside and outside. It's located alongside the leasing office for the apartment complex. The service is great. There were two young ladies working and they were both friendly. I arrived around 4:30 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and ordered a muffin and a decaf latte since it was so late (for me to drink caffeine). The cranberry lemon muffin was absolutely perfect, so much flavor, so fresh & moist. The Salted Brown Butter Latte was the best. From the first sip to the last drop, I loved it. I sat on a small section of a very comfortable couch with pillows and all. I later sat out front on one of the benches. They also have a patio seating out back. Another week, another morning drive to RDU to drop off my better half. We share a car, and with her job having her out of town about half the time, I've gotten pretty good at finding little adventures on the drive home. This particular morning, I knew I wanted to stop by Trader Joe's afterward, but they weren't open yet. So I pulled up the map looking for a coffee shop where I could get a little coworking done. Thousand Hills Coffee popped up, and it had been on my "need to try" list for a while. I also shot my buddy KH a quick text to see if he wanted to join me and catch up on our latest ultra running training shenanigans. Thankfully, he was game. I rolled in around 8:30 a.m. and managed to grab a decent parking spot. Worth mentioning because the coffee shop shares parking with the apartment complex next door, so I imagine spaces can disappear quickly. KW arrived a few minutes before me and had to park a bit farther away. Walking inside, I immediately liked the vibe. It feels modern but still cozy, almost like someone's really well-designed living room. There are several distinct seating areas, plenty of soft chairs, a long community table, and even bar seating overlooking the baristas. It struck a nice balance between coffee shop and comfortable workspace. Since I'd already knocked out my morning run, I was ready for a little breakfast. KH and I both ordered the cheese, Danish. It looked huge in the display case, though it shrank a bit once it made it onto the plate. That said, it was really flavorful and definitely worth ordering. I also grabbed a regular drip coffee, which was excellent. My timing was amusing because they had just finished the last pot and were brewing a fresh one, but honestly, getting a fresh cup probably worked out for the best. We grabbed chairs next to the long community table instead at the table since the morning sun was already heating things up. We spent a while catching up, talking running, races, and all the usual endurance athlete nonsense. After KH headed out, I relocated to the long table that was in the shade and spent another hour or so catching up on emails and getting a little work done. It turned out to be a great co-working spot with plenty of room to spread out without feeling like you were taking up space. One last shoutout to the staff, who were genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. Good coffee is one thing, but great people always make the experience better. Overall, I came away impressed. Somehow, they've been open for about two years, and I'm honestly not sure how they managed to stay off my radar for so long. Safe to say they'll be making it into my regular rotation whenever I need a good cup of coffee and a comfortable place to get some work done. read more

traveled to Thousand Hills Coffee to see what the rave was about, maybe if you live in that area, sure but not worth the 30 minute drive in my opinion. The cafe was beautiful, clean, coffee and work area tidy and pretty quick service; However, for the price of a standard vanilla latte...I was disappointed. The vanilla part was nice, no after taste (like you get from starbucks or dunkin) but the burnt espresso was too overpowering..i drank enough to take a picture, threw it out and went to dutch bros. Thousand Hills Coffee is nested in a busy apartment complex. There's plenty of free parking available, though not all immediately by the entrance of the coffee shop. We went on a Saturday afternoon which probably did not help the cause, but there were only a couple of tables available, which luckily we snagged one. I opted for the maple brown sugar latte. I really liked the flavor of the brown sugar itself, though I wished the espresso notes would have cut through more. My preference is for stronger, more acidic tasting espresso though. Glad I was able to check this coffee shop out since it was on my list, but not sure it's one I will rush back to. read more

My friend and I stopped in after having it bookmarked for a while and fell in love with the space and drinks! The coffee shop is connected to an apartment lease building and the decor is cozy , open, and vibrant. The cafe was full and I like the bright open windows. As for the coffee, we both had iced latte drinks (vanilla with salted cold foam) and the cardamom one. Service was great and our drinks were really yummy. I was so excited to see one of my favorite local coffee shops on the list for RDU Coffee Crawls - this spot has ample sitting space both indoor and outdoor, a smaller coffee and tea menu with some signature drinks added in as well and they also serve beer and some delicious fresh pastries/sandwiches. Love this coffee shop. It's super cute, and it's my favorite because they let me bring my well behaved dog inside. Lots of cute seating areas and really good drinks and scones! Visited Thousand Hills on a summer Sunday evening, about 30 minutes before closing. The 218 Southport Dr address on Yelp is incorrect; it's located on Athletic Ln. It's next to a leasing office and close to condominiums/apartments -- really tucked away and I wouldn't have ever noticed it had it not been for reading Yelp reviews. The spacious indoor seating had a good number of patrons that Sunday evening. I found a seat at the counter along the floor-to-ceiling windows. While the overall atmosphere was pleasant with soft music playing in the background, I did note that this may not always be ideal for deep focus or quiet studying. Because the space is large and invites a larger number of patrons to enjoy their coffee indoors, there is more collective chatter (and just one or two loud patrons would be enough to make it difficult to concentrate, but this is not establishment-specific as it could be an issue at any larger shop.) I ordered the strawberry lavender matcha, which was very refreshing. The hint of lavender was a lovely touch. I also treated myself to a childhood favorite -- a Rice Krispie treat. The space has a modern, inviting vibe with a variety of seating options--counter-like seating by the floor-to-ceiling windows, cozy sofas, a long communal table with lamps, and spots near the baristas. It's stylish yet comfortable. I'd definitely return. It seems like the perfect place to catch up with a friend over coffee--especially in the fall, when the outdoor seating would be enjoyable (it was way too hot for outdoor seating during my visit). Such a cute coffee shop to study at! The baristas are so friendly and talkative! They helped me decide on a tiramisu latte and it was so yummy. It reminded me of an iced mocha with a delicious homemade whipped cream on top. I would have enjoyed a stronger espresso taste but nonetheless thought it was great. We happened upon this coffee shop on a day trip to the triangle area. Parking is very limited near the coffee shop. It's a very busy place. Inside there was seating and space for whatever you're looking for. Chairs, sofas, meeting spaces, and outdoor seating. It's a large coffee shop. We waited in line and ordered our coffees. A few minutes later we received our beverages. We found a couple chairs with a small table in between. The table was dirty so I asked for a towel or rag to clean the table with. I received confused looks from the two employees that were standing behind the counter. They didn't have a rag to clean with so they told me to use wet napkins to clean the table. The response wasn't what I expected, but I got the impression the employees don't clean this establishment. They had no idea what to do. Kind of strange. I used water and a pile of napkins to clean everything off onto the floor. Other than that, the coffee and atmosphere were good. Not sure we'll return. It is a cool place though. read more

It was my second visit and while it was early it was packed. I didn't LOVE my last latte so I tried the Salted Carmel Oatmilk Latte" and my gosh it was the BEST coffee I've EVER had. Sit down Starbie Barbie there is a new kid in town. The opportunity to work while being sun drenched in this warm and inviting space calls me back and honestly? I can't wait to go. This is quickly becoming my favorite coffee spot! The banana bread latte is simply fantastic and the chocolate croissant was delicious, too! The atmosphere keeps you there (in my case, much longer than anticipated) because of the laidback vibe and ease of working or enjoying company. My espresso was burnt the first time and the barista explained to me the reason for delay, then made a new espresso drink for me. The coffee shop is bustling in the morning so be prepared for a line. There's plenty of indoor sleeping for small and large groups. The ambient noise level was conducive to reading, studying, working, or carrying a conversation with others. There were two baristas who were both friendly and attentive. I ordered a lavender honey matcha with whole milk and a cold brew with hazelnut syrup and light cream. The quality of the beverages for the price paid (~$12 total) seemed reasonable to me. I have been here a few times and they do have great coffee. The staff is friendly but we have had some experiences if you don't tip they then ignore you and give some ruder looks which I think is wrong if you are already spending $7 on a coffee. Other times the staff has been great so I try not to be turned off from places that happens. They do stop brewing drip coffee in the afternoon which was frustrating as that is all my mother wanted and they won't make any (it was around 2 pm). The inside itself is incredibly clean and beautiful in a great location. The latte flavors are fun as well. read more

I have requested an edit on Yelp and hope it gets updated as I was lucky my ride share driver was patient as well as persistent in getting me to the right place. The building (as well as the counter inside) is actually marked at "Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee & Social" to help out as well. This coffee shop is adjacent/adjoining the leasing office for the brand new Novel Morrisville apartment complex (hence the new street names, etc.). Inside is a very well decorated, modern, clean, and inviting atmosphere with many different seating areas that include a very large type of couch area that may be shared with the leasing office, a few round tables with chairs, side seating areas, work bar areas, and an outside seating area for when it is not scorching hot as it was the day I visited. I can see this coffee shop/cafe being conducive for working. The staff were positive and eager to help, and took my order as well as answering questions I had since it was a new place to me. At first, I got the coffee experience with a hot latte and cheese danish and both of which were good. Since it was nearing lunch time, I decided to go ahead and get some lunch time food as well. I ordered their ham and cheese croissant and also got a unique looking drink from their cooler case called Fentiman's Rose Lemonade that piqued my interest. The ham and cheese croissant was good for premade and warmed up type of sandwich, it did the trick with me for a quick lunch. The Fentiman's was really tasty with enjoying the rose and well as citrus in it, I will be on the lookout for this one again in the future. All in all, I feel this place is starting to hit their stride pretty well and I'd say 4.5 stars with this visit...I liked it. read more
