It is a ran down campground. Outdated. They promise to your site but don't. This was on the north side., the grass was 3 feet long in places with holes that were never filled from possible dig digging. The fat lady came by to let us know were 10 minutes late leaving. TL:DR - Don't stay here.... Nothing to say in this review that has not been said before - this is just not what we have come to expect from 2 years of TT travels along the Oregon and Washingtion coast. After receiving our assigned spot in the south section, a review of the 21 rules that we had to follow, which included "Do not dye your hair in the bathroom", we were informed to wait 15 minutes at the gate as it was 11:45 and check-in was 12:00. The front desk staff is neither warm nor welcoming. Will not state again. that the sites are small and Phase 1 has a ridiculous lay out, but it is all true. We traveled to our spot, it was not going to work - our dining room slide was 2 feet from our neighbor and we heard all of their conversations. My husband called up front, requesting a move, noted entire empty sections not stacked on top of each other and was informed those were reserved for Retail Customers. Well, that is something new to us. She was finally able to offer us some options, we moved to one of the spaces and settled in for a few nights. The next day, after noting in the TT pamphlet handed us along with the 21 Rules, that the laundry closed at 8:00 pm, we moved some laundry into the dryer at 6, went to get a bite, ended up being later then planned, arrived back to the grounds to find the laundry room, which has a coded keypad lock, dead bolted and could not access our clean laundry. Oh and the sign at the door actually has the laundry closing at 7 pm. Just ridiculous. why have a key coded lock and a dead bolt? Needless to say we left early, this was just not the welcoming space we are accustomed to at a TT resort. Moving down the coast to Oceana in Ocean Shores was the perfect option and glad this resort was able to accomodate our day early arrival with a welcoming smile and a map to pick out our space. read more

Worst Thousand Trails ever! Dumpy sites due to being to close together and lots of long-term residents with trash everywhere.

Lots of places to camp. Be sure to have your auto insurance handy. Friendly customer service. Cute little store. Heated pool. A 20 min walk down the hill to Birch bay drive and the bay. Be prepared for a bumpy ride, the dirt road from phase 1 and throughout phase 2 are FULL of deep potholes. Hopefully they can work on the drainage issues as well. The sites have a gravel parking area but the grass is a muddy mess. The sites are also facing your neighbors. So if you wanted to sit outside and bbq be aware you'll be sitting looking straight at your neighbor. No open fires allowed but propane fire pits are ok. If you are needing to have cell service at all you will need to purchase it. I believe it was $6 a day or something. read more

Just checked in at Birch Bay and it is our first experience with an assigned site and I am thoroughly dissatisfied with the experience. First come first serve was better. The site we were assigned has an electric post that is at the very top end of what electricians consider acceptable, 120V +/- 5%, at 126V. At times it goes over to 127V. The power/water/sewer connections are also at the front of the site--our power cord almost couldn't reach. There is zero shade even though there are a dozen sites in the same section WITH shade. We have booked a 4-week stay and hating our site for 4 weeks and the local staff saying they can't do anything is infuriating. We are very conscious of the condition of the electric. You would think for guests that have booked longer stays they should have a site they like but evidently they do not care. Also, having a long setup (63' combined truck and trailer) there have been other places that have assigned us a site that we could physically not get in to. What if that was the case with the new policy at Birch Bay Thousand Trails? Tell us to buzz off and go pound sand? That is about what I feel like we are getting as a response. I have no issues with the local staff because I know their hands are tied by upper management. Thousand Trails needs to rescind this poorly-thought-out new policy and revert to first come first serve. I have yet to meet any other Thousand Trails campers that like this new assigned-site policy. Frankly, we all hate it. I am going to re-think continuing our Thousand Trails membership. Worst place to camp ever! This is not camping, it's like a bad rv park where folks live year round. What should have been grass was dead. Only green parts were weeds. Few trees and sites were right on top of each other with no privacy. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights but left after one. read more

My soul needed some refreshment, and a getaway not too far from home, but definitely near salt water... and I found this satisfactory place. People who don't mind kids and dogs will like it best, because there are plenty of both. They were not obnoxious, just present! Overall it was pretty quiet. Unfortunately, a couple of people made use of the outdoor speakers built into their units (what an obnoxious, stupid feature, in my opinion!), but only during the dinner hour. No partiers when I was there. There were some very old and run-down camping units in the place, which can be a little off-putting... but it's the Pacific Northwest, so most trailers look a little sketchy if they are more than a few years old, and not meticulously cared-for. All sites had full hookups, as near as I could tell. There is a nice tent area by the woods, and one cabin that you can rent. The campground itself is a work in progress; it's older, and you can see they are in the process of upgrading some things. The "quiet lounge" and exercise center are closed just now, possibly some mechanical issues. The pool is open May through September, outdoor, fairly small. There is a game lounge/family lounge with some games, puzzles, a tv, and seating, even a small library, if you need to get away from your trailer for a bit. Restrooms are older, but were clean and in good working order. If you need wifi, you will need to pay for it, but prices aren't bad, and the speed was good. No built-in fire pits; you either need to bring your own, or rent one. There is a fenced off-leash dog area, not super large, but it kept my dog entertained for a bit. I stayed in the Phase 1 section, which is semi-shaded. There is a Phase 2 section that is more open, larger spaces, but not much in the way of shade. Phase 2 was closed until peak season, but made for a nice place to walk the dog or ride bikes. When you're tired of hanging out at your camp site, and time by the sea beckons to your soul, it's just a 1-2 mile drive to Birch Bay, which has some public parking by the sandy shore, or you can drive another mile to the Birch Bay State Park, which has a rocky beach face. You could also head north about 4 miles to Semiahmoo, where there are lovely bike and walking trails along the beach, a few restaurants, and a county park for picnicking. Shopping is not far away. For necessities and groceries, there is the Birch Bay market about 1-2 miles away; Birch Bay Square about 20 minutes east; Ferndale and Bellingham to the south, or hop the border at Blaine and shop in Canada. Staff was friendly and helpful, though I did not interact with them much. I will stay here again. read more

YELP won't let me give zero stars. So I donated $200 plus, and stayed long enough to drive phase 1 and phase 2 loops, and then drove 1 hour and 1/2 home. First, they take reservations but do not reserve a spot for you; rv spots are first come first serve. All roads are gravel. Phase 1 are all straight back in and not angled. You literally butt against the rv directly behind with maybe 12 inches separating you. The slidouts were literally inches away from neighbors. The only thing green were the weeds around the power and water poles. Phase 1 was bascially a refugee camp. The rv pads were weeds, grass, and some gravel. This area is not maintained at all. Phase two was full, no trees. Grass dead. Nothing green except weeds. Sites were big and wide. It's was dreary and sad. There were two other RV'S circling and appeared to as shocked as us. I've seen better dog parks. I called my friend who wanted a review after our stay as he had a reservation in September. Needless to say he cancelled his reservation. I would never consider this park ever and plan on leaving this review anywhere I can. The photos in other reviews here look nothing like what I saw today. read more

Stayed here last year-2019- with our RV club, it is really getting run down, with lots of permanent tenants, some of them have lovely sites, others don't care. (in the States, the rule is they cannot stay in any Thousand Trails for more than 9months, at a time. ) When we arrived, we were asked not to use the electricity more than necessary, as brakers keep blowing, and half the sewers weren't in service on the sites. It is unfortunate, as this is the only T.Trails campground in Canada. Will not visit again--word has it that they are due to close it permanently , for more housing. read more

We came here for our first camping trip in our new travel trailer as we were given a year membership to Thousand Trails with our trailer purchase and this park is close to home for us. We had a fantastic time, even though it was off season and the pool was closed. Beautiful new clubhouse facilities, two playgrounds for the kids, nice spaces with full hookups. This Thousand trails sets at the top of Washington state tucked away off I5 to the west. Close to gas stations, and grocery store, and some summertime amenities. When you arrive and check in, get your pass code for the gate, but don't forget to ask about the swimming pool or any events happening while your there. The trailers look to be set up more traditionally in the first lot, but if you take a moment and look over to the right one will notice that there is an entirely open air set up for tent and trailers alike. Just take the road less traveled a little more than halfway down the main road. I never seen any hook ups on the right side but there may be if one just takes their time to search. I think the right side of this camp may be for the more hard-core person/family that wants to do more with the outside and less inside. Along with the pool and laundry rooms there is a common area building, all of them centrally located close to the gate. This is a pretty basic place as far as trailer parks/campgrounds go and is very good, in this writers opinion, for solitude, privacy, and getting off the beaten paths of life. In the summertime the area around the park there seems to be more people doing more things in the sleepy town of birch bay, but in the winter the town is laid back and everyone seems to keep to themselves. this is not a real high use area but could be with a little help here and there. read more

This campground is divided into 2 sections: phase 1 and phase 2. The phase 1 part is much older and the electrical posts/water connections are bunched together at every 4 sites. This means you have to drag your cable & hoses under the RV to connect if the site ends in an odd number. What a pain! On a positive note, phase 1 has some large trees so the shade is better. We targeted the phase 2 side and ended up in pull-through full hookup site #248. The site was level and it even had a picnic table, but no tree shade. There is a large children's playtoy nearby so things got a bit loud at times, but it wasn't overbearing by any means. Phase 2 restrooms were clean and well-maintained. We also liked the separate exit on the phase 2 side. Laundry is available and it is $2.00 to both wash and dry. Unfortunately the laundry room has no air conditioning so it becomes a blazing inferno on hot days. Our AT&T and Verizon phones had 1 bar each and both were painfully slow. We purchased the optional paid campground wifi for 1 day and it was decent. Free wifi in the Activity Center is really bad. Staff was very kind and helpful. Recycling is available onsite. read more

This place is awesome. We have been to lots of rv parks and lots of thousand trails parks. This is one of my top five for sure. Pros: super family atmosphere. We were near the park and there were tons of kids for our to play with, good attitudes, nice parents. The pool is good, though small. Staff was very helpful and kind. Overall atmosphere was middle class and very relaxed. Just my style. The staff accommodated all my requests even doing some things for free or put of the norm that they didn't have too. Also, they brought in a live band for fourth of July weekend. Cons: the sites on one side of the park are setup weird so some of them have hookups on the wrong side. Not much else. The wifi is weak, but that is pretty typical. read more

This was our first experience at a Thousand Trails site and we were horribly disappointed. It's combat camping.... we could hear people snoring in the motorhome next to us. Also, the facilities were run down. It's first come first serve for spots so all of the even number spots were taken, because those were the right side for hookups. The water and electrical boxes looked rotten and were barely working. Also, the pictures are very deceiving because there is no grass and no ocean. Would never stay there again. read more

Filthy. Loud. Loud dogs, christian parties but pagan parties not allowed. Sparkling lights from other residents causing me to have a seizure as there were NO rangers to contact. The former 'adult' lounge has been taken away. Discriminating from the members who do not wish to have or be around children. It's always loud, and FURIOUSLY messy. We WILL be canceling our membership. read more

Last minute RV spot needed for the night. We were 4 hours behind schedule and needed a place for the night, prior to crossing the border into Canada. We found this place and got a space right in the front of the park. It is nothing fancy, just accommodating. Staff were nice. We met some folks from Missouri and made some new friends. It's ok not the best camp ground for sure. Old not much for privacy, other people's RV's are right next to you within arms length. The adult loudge is old and out dated along with there so called exercise room that has junk equipment. The kids room is the same way. The bathrooms are horrible in both phases. in phase one if your in the shower and someone else comes in and takes a shower you lose all water in your shower and it's freezing I've complained about it and nothing has gotten done it's horrible the phase two bathrooms are nasty as well as the phase one bathroom I recommend bringing your own cleaning supplies and a shower mat. during the summer their way gross there's always mud everywhere very old need to be upgraded majorly. With the amount of money we pay for our membership and maintenance nothing seems to get done where does all our money go? during the winter there it is a muddy mess very disappointing don't recommend it horrible read more
