We have been coming to this timeshare in Birch Bay for the last 28 years. Always love the location of the resort because it is so peaceful and serene with great clamming close by. It is also very close to Richmond in Canada where we love to go for good Cantonese food. This last trip was the second time we managed to book a presidential suite with a private hot tub in the balcony. The unit is a bit dated, but spacious and comfortable. It's also very good to know that they send service personnel to check the hot tub every other day. The resort also has clamming equipment that can be borrowed. We got a lot of huge cockles and horse clams on the beach in the Birch Bay State Park which is about a mile away. We always have a great time at this resort. read more

Quiet town just south of the Canadian border [Blaine WA] This was our home for four nights. We chose this place because we wanted to visit some sites in Canada. This is the closest WorldMark to the U.S. Canada Border in Blaine, which is about 6.5 miles drive from the resort. We arrived around 1:00a, check-in was fast and we were given our key cards and parking pass. As all of WorldMark by Wyndham resorts the unit was clean with a fully-equipped kitchen including a microwave, refrigerator, and stovetop along with a separate living area. We had a studio unit (only one available at time of booking) and our room was on the 5th floor. As always during our trips we never get to enjoy the hotel amenities (pool, recreation area, etc) since we always start our day out early and arrive back late. Can't waste any adventure time while on vacation. For our last evening we walked across the street to Bay Breeze Restaurant & Bar. A couple weeks ago we spent a week here on the second floor. I was grateful that our room was extremely close to the elevator... as much as I was grateful that there was a comfortable bench by the elevators! Not an entirely huge parking lot but certainly big enough to accommodate guests without having a long walk to your vehicle. We didn't attempt to park in the covered parking any days, we were able to grab a close enough parking space. Appreciative of their bellhop carts by the front doors for easy loading/unloading our luggage. The staff were friendly and helpful. Providing me w a little map and nearby restaurants. One gal was helpful when showing me a couple of eateries and noting: honestly, I prefer this one over that one. I welcome such honesty. There was some welcome happy hour Friday and Saturday or through Sunday nights where they offered bags of popcorn and beer or wine. There was a collection of dvd's, I thought to borrow but I believe there was rental prices on them. I don't know if there was some sort of cross breeze in our hallway but...wow was it refreshing to open our door, step out and feel a refreshing swath of chilly air!! I'm not sure what function was on our thermostat but we had it set at 66, one day we returned after being gone all day and it was 76 and the next day 78!! It cooled off fast enough when we turned on the ceiling fan and opened the patio door. I appreciated that they had a laminated channel line up for the tv. I noticed a DVD player but we never used it, nor did we use the fireplace. I REALLY like that their properties are the wristband room keys, so convenient!! The washer wasn't too loud, we could slide the door shut and that would muffle it. My mom used the main bath, shower most of the week as she said the master suite there wasn't any room to step out of the water flow. I appreciated the handicap bar outside the shower as the first day I went to brace myself on the wall to step out and my hand met the bar! There was a few extra towels and some pool towels in the cabinet, thanks. I was gratefully surprised to find bottles of shampoo, conditioner & body was in the shower! I'd like to note...just a thought... maybe the cleaning crew could swap out all bottles each time a room flips? A couple days before we left I had to take the conditioner bottle down to the desk to have it refilled. A couple days after checking in I went down for a box of tissues, toilet paper and she offered paper towels. I didn't sit on either of them but I was appreciative of the standard size barstools at the island instead of high barstools. The furniture was comfortable. It was a good stay, except for having to go do for the toiletries but honestly that wasn't a hassle and certainly not a deal breaker to never stay again. The bathroom was....just big enough... you had to shimmy between the vanity and the toilet to get the door open. I meant to mention it to the staff, then forgot but they conveniently have outlets and USB outlets built in to the bedside table, thanks! I thought I charged my phone all night, woke up to it not 100% so I plugged in other items, felt around for a cord in the outlet. Pulled the bed away from the wall.... only one of the outlets was working, I just moved the table cord in to the other outlet and then it worked. We didn't sit on our patio but there were chairs, a grill and an outdoor pool view. I believe we were told there were two pools, two hot tubs and two saunas on the property. The big bummer was that it's a Timeshare Upgrade to get wifi. I mean, who doesn't offer free wifi these days? So what would be the main reason we'd say no, if deciding to stay here again. My reservation was cancelled hours before arrival here. Extra Holidays that does the reservations and is owned by Wyndham also overbooked our stay on 9/26 and they cancelled our prepaid reservation within hours of arrival. They offered to book us in the Wyndham motel 14 miles away from the beach which was not even comparable to what we booked. The front desk staff at the Wyndham said there were 10 overbooked rooms. We had to rebook something on our own and pay for it while waiting up to 15 day for a refund. It ended up costing us more. The company never offered compensation. They actually asked me to cancel it myself which I found out later that had I done that, the stay would have been non refundable. This felt like a bait and switch to move traveler over to their motels in town far from the beach. There are many other reliable options in Birch Bay and I would recommend thinking twice. read more

One for everyone and one in the master bedroom which had one bed. One of the rooms had 2 smaller beds. We had deposited some weeks from our timeshare into the big timeshare company called RCI. We had RCI points expiring. Instead of letting our points expire or pay to have them extended I booked the only thing available within a 4 hour drive and that was at Worldmark Birch Bay. Worldmark Birch Bay is ideally located. It's right across from the beach. Along the beach is a wide, paved path. When we checked in, we were told Wifi was extra. I didn't ask how much Wifi was. To me anytime you're renting a place whether it's a hotel or residence, Wifi should be included in the rental fee. After checking in at one spot, I was told to check in with another person at the desk behind me to get my room keys. Oh no, that's when I realized it was the timeshare people that I was going to talk to. The timeshare people were nice but I politely told them I was not interested in sitting through a presentation. They persisted but I told them I didn't want to be rude but my answer is still no. I got my room keys (actually room keys that were on elastic bracelets). We had paid for a two bedroom, two bath unit. It was clean, well stocked and even had a washer/dryer that was supplied with laundry detergent. I think we were on the 2nd floor. We were able to look out the living room window for a peek a boo view of the water. What I loved about the unit is it had a gas fireplace. The master bedroom was large, the guest bathroom was good sized. The unit we stayed in was over the outdoor/indoor swimming pool. It was December so the pool wasn't used much but when it was used, we could hear people talking and kids talking loudly. Luckily the staff went to the hot tub/pool area to let people know that area closed at 10pm. Since the day we checked in and every day of our week stay even the day we were checking out, the telephone would ring twice a day. I knew it was the timeshare people so I didn't answer the phone. That was a huge turnoff for me. That's the reason for a 3 star rating. If you're planning on cooking at the unit, I would suggest buying your groceries before you get to Birch Bay. There's two convenience stores in Birch Bay. Unfortunately they are not well stocked with meats, produce, etc. read more

My vacation planner suggested Worldmark Birch Bay to me when I told them I wanted to spend a few days sightseeing in Vancouver. I am glad that I made this decision because I didn't have to pay for the expensive hotels in Vancouver and its outrageous parking. The drive across the border for fairly easy, it is about 15 minutes and there isn't much traffic between Birch Bay/Blaine and Whitewater. It did get a little busy on Saturday, but the wait was roughly 35 minutes to cross the border. By staying here at Birch Bay, I get to wake up to views of the waterfront and the peacefulness of the small town. The cost of me renting a 2 room apartment was less than getting 1 room in Vancouver downtown. The resort itself is currently under renovation (2018), everything was fairly orderly and clean. The fan in the hallway bathroom was making too much noise. The front desk offered to send someone up to fix it when I told them about the issue, but I declined because it didn't bother me too much. But beware of the presentation sales pitch. I was offered to attend a 60 minutes owner update and ended up being stuck talking to the rep for 180 minutes. Beautiful view of the bay (that's my reason for the 2 stars) Checking with my three kids and I. Was met by a very nice front desk lady she started to check us in YES we all walked in the lobby with masks on. As we start to do check in I believe it must have been the manager blonde hair lady walked up didn't greet us didn't introduce her self looked at me and my kids and said "only one person in the lobby your kids need to wait outside until your finished" as if they are dogs or something. I say "excuse me but we are all together and it's raining outside" (my kids ages are 12,11 and 9) "yeah they are still gonna need to wait outside" I they say "well excuse me but they is no sign outside stating only one person in the lobby at a time and I'm a single mom you can't expect my kids to be outside" I had my children wait right inside the door. She left after her comment and didn't say anything else. It was incredibly rude for her to not introduce herself, She treated my kids as if they were dogs and didn't apologize. I think your manager needs a training session on respect. My advice is go to the brown WorldMark hotel next door they were amazing to us they even have a great roof top. Nicely located across the street from the bay. Many places to eat and drink with in walking distance. The sales pressure starts weeks before arrival with updates, texts, email, etc... If you are an owner why would you want to attend? How much time should be spent on vacation listening to a time share presentation.... Waste your trip? Remember to unplug your phone, prevents unnecessary sales interruptions. Room was a dirty studio with a Murphy bed. Take the mattress and lay it on the floor, much better than on the frame. If you like noisy children, you have found the right place. Running up and down isles. Noise from the room above. Construction, siding is being replaced. 9 to 6. Compressors, lifts, saws, multiple workers, nail guns, are all there to make your stay memorable. The grill is on the deck, debris from the siding covered the deck. No assistance from Worldmark to clean up the daily mess. If you are grilling, and they are working, you will need hearing protection. Have stayed in many Worldmark properties, this unfortunately is near the bottom. read more

Loved our winter stay for a week at Birch Bay! The staff at the check-in desk was so friendly & helpful throughout our stay! Based on other reviews, I requested a room on the quiet side of the resort. We were accommodated and even checked in several hours early to #211. Our 2 bedroom unit was lovely: cozy gas fireplace, well stocked kitchen, ensuite master with 3/4 bath and access to a balcony, twin beds in the 2nd bedroom within close proximity to a full bath. With a phone call the staff quickly transformed the 2 twin beds into a king size. Unit decor touches and finishes were very nice with lots of art on the walls, quartz counters and undermount sinks throughout, plank tile floors in kitchen & bathrooms, and a large BBQ provided. The only negative: shower in the ensuite was quite small but all the other amenities more than made up for it. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 day stay at WorldMark By Wyndham Birch Bay from beginning to end! We were in Suite 521 which is a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite with an AMAZING view of the Bay from our balcony! The suite seemed to be newly remodeled and was absolutely beautiful and also boasted a gas fireplace to enjoy on the cool summer nights! The property also has the most adorable coffee/gift shop called Rooted by the Bay and the baristas there were so friendly and made the BEST drinks! We went daily for their coffee and breakfast sandwiches! Also worth noting, they have the most delicious homemade salsa I've ever had! We even bought a tub of it to take back to our suite to have with chips! We enjoyed the most mesmerizing nightly sunsets from our balcony and walks along the beach! It's a truly enchanting town, can't wait to go back! Thank you Worldmark Birch Bay for a wonderful stay filled to the brim with family memories that we will never forget! read more

The property itself has great amenities and the beach is directly across the street, 2 hot tubs, 2 pools, game room and the works. WorldMark Birch Bay. Full disclosure, WorldMark is a timeshare, part of the Wyndham / Travel + Leisure network, and I am a WorldMark owner. Just want you to know I have horse in this race. WorldMark Birch Bay, 40-odd miles south from the border with Canada. I stayed in a third-floor, two-bedroom unit in the back building, for seven-nights. The resort is right on the bay, and could not have a better location on Birch Bay. FYI, WorldMark Blaine is an directly adjoining resort, and it is easy to see why WorldMark went big at this location. The unit met every WorldMark standard, fully-equipped, good working order, clean, fresh, comfortable. The Staff were friendly, courteous and very responsive to our needs (Thank You Kiana, Ronnie and Kelly). We did attends sales presentation, where we spoke just over an hour, focusing on the Owner Update and what's new with Wyndham (Thank You, Dan). All and all, I look forward to returning to WorldMark Birch Bay - Easily a Five Star resort. read more

As the sun was going down, one of the cafes had live music, just loud enough to hear in the distance, families playing in the pool, waves...all the sounds of vacation! Although, I gave this place 3 stars, we will come back to WorldMark Birch Bay. When we got here after 4 pm, our room wasn't ready. They compensated us by giving us a corner room and free WiFi for 2 devices. Nice. The rooms were good (except spider webs, spider in our daughter's bed, and some gnats), kitchen & bathrooms were clean, bathroom tub was clogged (fixed immediately). Staff was very friendly, not pushy. Fresh popped popcorn in the lobby each night. Two pools, exercise room, hot tubs, grill, best: permanent volleyball net and volleyballs. This is an adequate place to stay for a home base to go out and do stuff. We went to the family amusement park for putt putt and go carts, C's ice cream/pizza shop, CJ's Beach House (best food), beach across the street, the Northwest Fair...during the summer, there's also a waterside place 3 minutes away. Under the WorldMark, there are shops: gifts souvenirs, bike/scooter/boat rentals, even a dog spa. Pretty much everything is within walking distance. Check the Ferndale's chamber of commerce to see a line up of the city's activities. read more

Standard WorldMark fare: budget materials and fittings. Not the quietest rooms due to economy construction. On the plus side: - everything worked - the staff is friendly and competent - and to make the lack of a negative a positive, they have reduced the up-sell pressure tactics On the downside, Birch Bay is very shallow, not for swimming. Twice a day it's a mud flat. You're miles from really interesting stuff. The karaoke bar nearby will keep you up some nights. As with many Worldmarks, you're taking your 'resort vacation' at a crowded apartment complex - it's just somewhere else. Parking was a hassle, but at least we weren't on the street. I dont get what some others complaining nothing to do here, this resort is RIGHT NEXT to the Ocean! And its a short drive to some nice waterfalls and other things you can do. In regards Nick mentioning about being asked by the staff for the Owners update thing, I dont mind doing that personally, (Since they always reward you with gift card, and you can just say no to whatever they try to sell you) The place was in the process of being renovated when we were there so that is a plus, and there is a nice seafood restaurant right by the resort that you can have dinner at. Room wise , aside from no view of anything but the lobby was nice, spacious and clean. My 4 o'clock check in was apparently too early though as it wasnt ready for another 20 minutes. The staff is friendly enough , but Im not happy about the high pressure to attend their workshop, we all know time shares are a sham. I had a friend transfer me this room and literally watched her on the phone for 2 hours , mad to crying , just trying to get and transfer the room. Later i checked what she paid in points and realized we could have just rented a room in the area for about half the rate. Not worth the $ and headache . read more

As others have stated, the building is cheaply put together. But, that's pretty common for the area, as its regarded as a relaxing get away kind of place. Prepare to be hounded by the Worldmark staff ( whether you're an owner or guest). We got a daily call asking if we were ready to schedule our "owners update presentation." Also, it's good to point out, no free wifi and, to my knowledge, all rooms do not have air conditioning. I know what you're thinking...even in July the high is in the low 70s and nights are in the 50s...what's the need? Our window, door to the patio, and the fan have been open/on the whole time and our studio has not gotten cooler than 77. My experience here was acceptable overall. It started out on a bad note, being informed at check-in, that due to some mysterious issue, all the penthouses were unavailable and I had to accept a different room. If I had known this in advance, I would not have booked this resort at all, since my primary motivation was the private hot tub. However, Worldmark Owner Care did give me a positive customer service experience which helped my mood some and has made me willing to give Worldmark another chance in the future. The 3 bedroom suite was clean enough and very roomy, but I think it could use a facelift. The lighting is poor and many areas are too dark. There is a full kitchen, but we used it very minimally. The beds feel old, you can feel the springs very easily, and most of the mattresses were too hard for my taste. The decor is dated and spartan. Couches were old and thin and a bit dirty. The heating was nice though, worked very fast, including the fireplace in the living room. Only the penthouses have a good oceanview, all other rooms have partial view or no view. The shower was okay but not great. There are two pools, two spas, both essentially outside, which I personally thought were a bit dirty and unappealing, spa temperature was not hot enough, and a small workout room. On-site arcade is small but has some good choices (Dance Dance Revolution, Area 51, pinball, etc). As others stated, there is nothing to do in tiny Birch Bay, and very few food options. We spent almost all our time in Bellingham, which was lovely. Twenty minute drive each way. Stay here if you like walking or hiking, or visiting small, quirky museums. I recommend The Spark Museum in downtown Bellingham. There is a nice nearby casino in Ferndale (though the slots were looser in Vancouver). Vancouver is an hour away, though Worldmark has a nice property in Vancouver if that's where you want to spend a lot of your time. This is a terrible place to bring children, they will be bored out of their minds. Most of the other guests here that I saw were elderly and white-haired. read more

I liked the 2 bed condo however, it was not air conditioned and we were there on the 4th of July. If we had the windows open we had to endure the smoke of the fireworks and if we kept them closed it was 80 inside. The definition I got when reading some reviews was the rooms are climate controlled (ceiling fans) and in the winter heaters and a nice fireplace. So, whatever you read about in other web sites there is no air con in any of the rooms. The place was very clean and cozy. Noooooo no no no. Try and avoid staying here... So my husband and I (and our one year old) are exploring Washington before we move out of state pretty soon. My parents own a timeshare and did a nightly exchange through the company for us for a couple nights here so we could see northern Washington. Our room was dirty. (I brought Lysol wipes on purpose to clean the coffee tables and stuff that I knew my little son would have his hands and face probably on at some point) and they were not clean. I had to scrub them.. and wait. The worst part was the kitchen. Not only was the tile broken and chipping little pieces off of it, but in one swipe of a wipe, there was a BLACK handprint on it! Black! So so so nasty. The grout was black with dirt and grime but the tile itself was so gross too! Excuse me, but I really don't think anyone's cleaned the kitchen floor in YEARS! We have tile with grout in our house and as long as you clean it routinely, it stays clean. I was so disgusted, I took the actual wipes down to the front desk to show them. Before they could even offer for someone to probably just mop the floor again for us, I said no. We had all our belongings in the room and I just get a weird feeling knowing I complained and then housekeeping would have to come in and clean again. Idk. But I do know this place is NASTY The bathroom tile was the same way. But I just closed the door because I don't let my son even crawl on our bathroom floor at home so it's fine But also the bathtub drain didn't work. It took 15 minutes for the bathtub to drain after my husband took a quick SHOWER after using the pool...... And the faucet is so hard to pull. It looks like it's literally been there for 40+ years. There was a really bad fruit fly infestation in our room. Like a ton. Our first day there, we tried to eat takeout in our room because we had been tired from traveling, and there was instantly fruit flies all over the table and food. Instant. So so so gross. We tried our best to kill them all and I think we finally may have but by that time our stay was over. The indoor/outdoor pool was very dirty to me. It had seagull/geese/duck (??) feathers in it all over... The separate outdoor pool was very nice though. Even had an outdoor shower. But in my opinion they were really cold! It even was 70* here and we couldn't stay in the pool for longer than 10 minutes before my son was too cold. The elevator is sooooo extremely old and scary. The long hallways remind me of a horror film as well. But whatever I can't expect that much. And every time I got in our room I felt like I was on a boat. I told my husband that after I felt it a few times and he said "omg me too!" It was weird. Must've been the elevator but idk.. The bedroom and living room were nice and seemed spacious. They gave us a high chair for our son to use during our stay here and that really helped when we just stayed in for a while and ate leftovers. They give you coffee to use in the coffee pot and dish soap and laundry soap. All those things are very nice and helpful. I think the staff is pleasant and accommodating. BUT THAT DIRT THO Either way, we didn't stay in the room much except for some naps and lunches and playtime in the evening. This place would probably be -okay- if you didn't have young kids who happen to be licking the end table at any given random moment. Not much to do right here but the bay is nice and the facilities adequate. A good place to relax and explore Bellingham or Lynden. We enjoyed day trips to Fairhaven Historical District and the Pioneer Museum in Lynden. Avoid the timeshare sales "presentation" like the plague! Hard sell and uncomfortable. A good chance to practice boundary setting skills and saying no. read more

There are 2 Worldmarks side by side. One is old and one is newer. The newer complex is much better. If you get one of the top floor suites in the newer complex, realize you need to walk outside (as in... exposed to the weather) to access your unit door. read more

Owners beware. They hound you to take the owner workshop. I did learn so new things but the other shoe did drop.... They worked really hard to sell me more credits. Sales lady Kirsten was very nice and thanked me for coming in but before I could leave office manager Tracy did her best to make a sale. Tracy told me to cancel my cable- Which I don't have and to cash out my 401K. I got pissoff & walk out. I was followed by office staff trying to get me to come back in. 99.9% never coming back and for Tracy. Get some BBQ sauce on your way to HELL! read more

My hubby brought me here for our Valentine's Day weekend this past February. We got a studio room and it was huge. Like all Worldmark properties, it had a full kitchen, washer/dryer unit, and fireplace. It had a couple of pools and other amenities in the clubhouse (pool table, arcade games, etc). but we mostly stayed in the room hanging out and also went to nearby Semiahmoo Resort for dinner. On-site parking was free but the closest spot we found was on the other side of where our room was. If you're a Worldmark owner I would recommend that you check this place out for a day - it's in a cute town but I don't imagine there's not enough to do for an extended stay. read more

We stopped here for one night on the way to the Victoria Worldmark (That one is recommended). The building is across the street from water (not a beach) and since we were there for only the night, we did not explore the surrounding area. The units are typical Worldmark with inexpensive but serviceable materials and stocking of supplies was Worldmark standard. The complex is a single building which could be mistaken for a budget motel, particularly since the grounds were covered with as many parking spaces as could be squeezed in. There was one open space which was open because it would be a tight fit for a Mini which would have to back out while turning to avoid adjacent cars. The opposite side of the building had lots of parking as it is the parking lot for the mostly vacant businesses on the first floor of the Worldmark facility and for businesses on the other side of the parking lot. There is a bar very close and they offered country karaoke if you are into that kind of thing (a few members of our party enjoyed it). The unit we were in was stinky with no air-conditioning, probably since it was near the water, and because the units were packed in so tightly, noise from adjacent units (just talking which echoed) was irritating until pretty late. The common areas smelled of an old motel and the elevator area was particularly dank off a old poorly maintained breezeway. I would rate this complex almost as welcome as a Motel 6, but not quite. As other reviewers mention, the high pressure "concierge" pushing a timeshare "workshop" (they apparently want to get away from calling it a "presentation" kills it. It is a serviceable place to stay if you want to catch the Tsawwassan ferry with each access to I-5 and CA 99 and 17 (Gas up in Birmingham - it is cheaper although Blaine has a few cheap gas stations before entering pricey Canada. As a place to sleep for the night while going somewhere else, it works, but as a place to stay on vacation - I don't think so! read more

I stayed 11/9 through 11/11 for a board retreat. We had a pleasant time due to each others' company and the beautiful location. Unfortunately, the building is cheaply put together, as we could constantly hear the footsteps of the people above at all hours of the day/night. On the plus side, the rooms have been renovated and have pleasing colors and comfortable furniture, but the fixtures and appliances are all low-quality and there was already moisture damage in the bathrooms on the ceiling and around the baseboard. The lighting is by compact florescent bulbs and is really not sufficient. At check-in we were told to fill out a "mandatory" survey and then received a phone call from the sales center within 10 minutes. This was extremely off-putting and the entire experience simply reinforced my negative view of the timeshare industry (primarily new and cheaply-constructed units, inescapable sales pitches). Would not return. read more

It's a very decent stay! The apartment is absolutely gorgeous. It's fully stocked with dishes, pans, laundry detergent- little household items that definitely come in handy. I was unaware of this and we stopped by a Fred Meyer on our way to check in and we purchased groceries and a little pan which we ended up taking home anyway. The staff was courteous. Parking is scarce and the rolling carts that help with luggage were not available at the time of arrival. Although, they do have umbrellas by the exit doors which is nice. It's right off the coast of the bay and less than 5 miles from Canada. Will certainly stay here if we're back in this area. read more

Some friends and I stayed for a girls weekend. The rooms were extremely clean and the decorations were modern and tasteful. The customer service was exceptional, with staff calling to see how our rooms were after check-in, and responding quickly and efficiently to any requests that we had. The indoor/outdoor pool and outdoor hot tub were open in the middle of a snow storm, so we were happy. Overall, I was very happy with the accommodations, and I am quite picky about hotel rooms. read more
