Thousand trails Yosemite. It's a beautiful place to stay. We stayed in the RV area. I liked that the campgrounds are kept clean, organized as well as quiet after hours. Beautiful scenery to enjoy and the river as well. The campground has a clubhouse with many amenities to entertain family. The only drawback if you need internet access you won't find it. There is no internet access unless you go to the clubhouse and even there is pretty spotty. But then again you are there to enjoy and relax. So there is a bit of everything. There are different areas RV campground near the river or farther away. There are also options to camp if you bring your tent, cabins or yurts. I really enjoy the scenery, quietness and relaxation of the camp. Definitely looking forward to visiting again. Until next time. Chao!

This is specifically for the RV sites. We absolutely loved this campground. It was peaceful and quiet. The river running through was so amazing. Our campsite was 137 right next to a cabin. Close by the river. I do have to say the sites behind us a bit under the solar panels is an eyesore. Wouldn't have been happy with those at all. This place has an amazing upgraded rec room. And lots of fun family activities. There's a nice liking trail towards the back of the campground

This park is in a great location. The staff is doing the best they can with being short staffed and thousand trails new assigned spots rule. They absolutely need help maintaining the RV spots. We were originally in a spot in sun valley that needed lots of love and then moved to a water spot that had foxtails everywhere. I hope they get it together soon! Their community areas like the office and bathrooms were clean.

This is an excellent alternative if you can't book anything inside Yosemite valley for a last minute trip. It's only about 10-15 drive away from Tioga entrance of Yosemite National Park. There is a Yart stop by the welcome center of the campsite; Which is a public transportation that guarantees your park admission and reservation to the park if it no longer available on the national park website!!! As of July 2024, it's $16 for an adult, cheaper for kids, see picture attached. Keep in mind, reservations do not equal to entrance fees to the park. Highly recommended to check out their official website before your trip. During the summer, reservations are required in addition to the park entrance fee! Restrooms and showers are available throughout the campsite. They are all pretty clean, I would say even better than what was inside our yurt. Sorry no pictures. There's a decent size recreational area with mini golf, basketball court, valley ball court and a playground. Laundry room also available! Our trip was booked within a week this summer, so no campsites were available but the yurts. So it is possible if you want to plan a spontaneously trip to visit Yosemite! There's a gas station and store by the entrance of the campsite. Free WiFi only available by the front office and the lounge area. Their hours are quite unpredictable despite on what's posted on the sign. Don't expect them to open/close at the time they stated. I can see that the campsite has a little age to many of the amenities. The microwave in our yurt had a broken handle. The handle of the sink was installed wrong(not pictured). However, we had a nice experience over all! Eventually we were here for camping, my bar is low. Anything that provides electricity and plumbing is a bonus.

Went camping for memorial weekend at thousand trails Yosemite lakes and it was beautiful. The weather was nice and Sunny, the staff were not only friendly but accommodating, the bathrooms were clean and they had live music one of the nights. There is a beautiful river next to the campsite where you can go take a leap in as well. A couple minutes down the road is Yosemite national park which we woke up bright and early at 4:30 am to get in before 5, there were no lines, no crowds just breathtaking.

    Pot hole - typical road

This park was a mess. From the potholes that made our blinds fall down, to the amenities that are falling apart, to the staff that knows very little about their spots and is rude. They allow extra tents on RV spots so the narrow roads were extra crowded. The lodge was nice but open very limited hours and not at night when you're looking for something to do. The WiFi was very spotty (even at the appointed hotspots) and there is no service of any kind available at the sites. We had better luck getting connected in the park. The river was nice.

Such a gorgeous campground with great proximity to all of the best hikes in Yosemite. We stayed in a river yurt for a few days and it was perfect for our family of four. We did bring an extra air mattress just so we could each have our own bed and it worked out great. The stove kept the yurt nice and warm, we even had to turn it off a few times when it got too warm. Bathroom is nice and spacious and the small kitchen was nice to have. It had a full sized fridge too which was helpful! The new main lodge building is SO nice. Unfortunately it was closed while we were there due to staffing, but we were able to get a quick tour. Hopefully we can utilize it next time we go. Wifi is pretty bad here, so just be prepared to disconnect and enjoy nature and your family. If my teen and tween can survive bad wifi, anyone can! Be sure to check out the little town of Groveland while you're here, especially Mountain Sage Coffee and Iron Door! The Rush Creek Lodge down the street is another great spot to grab a bite as well. Can't wait to go back!

Stayed for the weekend in the tent site after previously staying in a Yurt. We chose the tent site because of the price and not having a good experience with the Yurt last time. The tent site itself next to the river was fine. The river sounds at night we're soothing and the site was clean. The river tent site was also fairly large and you would feel crowded during a busy time with other campers next to you. Although, there is no separation between sites and shade may be an issue during hot summer months. The most disappointing aspect of the tent site were the bathrooms (see photos). At the closest bathroom/showers there was only 1 working toilet for men and 2 for women (this includes the 1 for men that's an all gender restroom). The shower in that restroom was disgusting and probably not meant to be used anyway, but block it off if it's not to be used because yikes! The other showers were fine I guess although we didn't use them. This was disappointing because on a previous trip we had scoped out a bathroom in another area which was actually very nice. I expected with the upcharge for the river tent site we may also be close to one of the nicer bathrooms but that was a let down. They also had a Halloween trunk or treat and costume contest which we were excited to have our kids participate in and brought their costumes on the trip. This may have been the most disappointing thing because there's were only 2 cars "trunks" and that was it. The costume contest was also very bad. When compared to their s'mores event back when we initially had gone and how lively that was we had high hopes but the kids were let down. Lastly, Yosemite Lakes advertises activities such as basketball, mini golf, pick all, shuffleboard etc., but the grounds need some serious upkeep. Equipment was broken or unusable. The mini golf was dirty (see photos). Would it kill you to take a blower to the course once a day? We tried the tents and we tried the Yurts. I think that's it for us when it comes to staying at this place. It's such a great location close to Yosemite, but I've been let down more than I've been thrilled to stay there.

    Stains on the carpet. Shabby.

Overall, a disappointing stay. Not at all as depicted in the pictures. I never did find the bathroom or showers. I'd really like to talk to the guests that rated this place so highly to find out why my experience was less than stellar. The little cabin wasn't dirty, but it wasn't really clean. The sheets, blankets, etc. were a mismatched hodgepodge and I really couldn't tell what was clean and what wasn't. The refrigerator buzzed so loudly, I could hardly sleep. The office hours didn't align with my plans each day so I wasn't able to get or give more information. Plus, with minimal cell service, I couldnt call. I definitely could not recommend and I wonder if the parent organization is aware of this property's condition.

Ask the Community - Thousand Trails Yosemite Lakes

We'll be visiting from the Sacramento/Roseville area with our 41 foot RV. What route would you recommend? Thank you.

What route did you take? Am heading up next week from central coast

Is the WiFi/internet capable of using Google Classroom features?

Only if you are at the lodge and pay for the WiFi. Otherwise the free one is to slow. My cousin had to do online classes while we were there and was able to complete her assignments.

What is the speed of the WiFi available for purchase? Also, what is the cost of it per day/week?

Are the bbq and live music events (specifically the 8/11/19 event) free or is there cost? Thank you!

Have a 40 foot RV class A What's the safest route to get to your resort coming from Los Ángeles?

I booked my camp site. Wondering what are the other fees saying I maybe have to pay?

They say there is a bus to Yosemite on the summer. Any info on that? Cost?

Will a bear get my dog if I leave her kenneled in my tent while going into Yosemite!?

Black bears tend to stay away from camps with dogs. However, for the dogs safety you should NOT leave dog unattended and more importantly it is prohibited by the park. There is a dog kennel inside the park

What is the sleeping arrangements in the Meadow Yurt?

Day 1: We hiked 7.2 miles exploring several smaller trails. We also took the train ride for about an hour, which was so relaxing. The highlight of the day was seeing a black bear. Day 2: We hiked Half Dome all the way to the cables a total of 17 miles. It was by far the hardest hike we've ever done, but every step was worth it. Along the way we passed Vernal Fall and Nevada Fall, both absolutely breathtaking. The hike back was tough on our knees, but we kept a positive attitude and finished strong. Day 3: We hiked Tuolumne Grove Trail and then Glacier Point to Union Point. The round trip was 8 miles, with plenty of uphill climbing on the way back. That night we stayed to watch the shooting stars around 10 p.m., and it was magical. We also saw an adorable baby bear cub. Day 4: We hiked Mariposa Grove Trail to Wawona Point, completing 8 miles. Walking among the giant sequoia trees was an incredible experience that I highly recommend. The trail is moderate and absolutely beautiful. We also spotted a deer. By the end of our trip, we had hiked 40.2 miles in four days. Our legs were exhausted, but our hearts were full. Every mile, every view, and every wildlife encounter made this adventure unforgettable. Yosemite reminded us why we love hiking nature has a way of bringing out the best in us.

The distance from this campsite is pretty far from the main entrance to Yosemite. The drive itself from the gate is about 10-15 minutes, and if you get stuck behind a slow car, you can pretty much double that driving time. The actual camping site sizes are large with a ton of parking spaces and enough space to really spread out. There is also enough space between the campsites so that you don't have to worry about loud neighbors. While everything sounds all good - this campsite lacks alot of trees for shade in the camp sites. In the morning when you have the sun blazing down on your face, it's worse after a night drinking by the fire. You just wake up hot and sweaty - it's not the bizz; it's quite miserable...waking up hot and sweaty. Let's talk bathrooms, because that's really what is important when it comes to being away from home and being clean. So this campsite has OUTHOUSES, yes you read that right! Basically a small outhouse with a huge hole in the ground for number 1 and number 2. These outhouses smell, they are infested with flies ... did I say them smell? They are no running showers, so be sure to pack a lot of baby wipes and anti-bacterial cleaning supplies. We saw a couple baby bears during our stay here so be sure to use the bear cabins for your foods. Everything needs to be locked in so it doesn't attract the bears.

On top of our pricey stay, we paid a $50 fee to stay in the community. This is fine, but everytime we came back, we still needed to wait in the long visitor line only to be waved in once they see our pass. There's got to be a better way. 2. Visitors also don't have electronic passes, so there's a strict path that you can drive or else you'll hit a gate that you can't go through and is owner only. This means often a 10m drive to your house. It also meant driving around the entire lake to get to Fisherman's Cove because the closer paths are owners only. (Fisherman's Cove and Marina Beach are very pretty though!) 3. To play pickleball, you'd think it'd be covered under the $50 fee? But no, it's another $8pp/day. So for a 4 person game, it'll cost $32. This is more expensive than renting a court in Santa Monica!

This is in no way the owners fault but we had to wait in line every single time to enter the cmty. There are over 3k units in the community, many of them rentals -but only 1 guest line for registered and unregistered guests--on busy weekends, multiple cars in front of you are registering so you have to wait even when you are already registered. On our arrival day we waited over 30 mins. The next day tired from a full day in Yosemite-over 20 mins. The third day we almost didn't leave bc of the hassle, but I ran out for groceries and it was still over 20 mins. It was honestly infuriating after paying the $50 parking fee for the stay. The Homeowners Association is making a killing off the fee -so they should at least create a 3rd line for already registered guests. We stayed on a Thursday night in the summer and had to share our site which ended up being fine as there is plenty of room. The guys that shared our site were cool and we stayed up and drank a few beers and chatted until about 10 pm. There definitely aren't enough sites for everyone to have their own, but considering how difficult it is to make reservations, the backpacker's site was great. There are porta-potty style bathrooms in there, and potable water is located in the upper pines campground which is only a five minute walk away. One great feature about the backpacker's campground is that the parking lot for backpacker's is about a 10 to 15 minute walk away, so if you want to bring some stuff to use and leave in your car before heading out on the trail you can. Curry village is about a 10 to 15 minute walk away which provides many dining and shopping opportunities. We filled up at the buffet and grabbed a six pack to enjoy the night before heading out to the high country. 4 stars for no water in the campground and primitive bathrooms. However, I will definitely stay here next time I go backpacking in Yosemite and I recommend it to any other backpackers.
