I was recommend by a friend to come here and I enjoyed my experience. Helen paid a lot of attention to detail and marked my brows with white crayon to show me what shape she will be doing before actually threading. After showing me the shape she went to work and honestly it wasn't as painful like a lot of other places. I could tell she cared a lot about her customers and had a lot of attention to details and tried to pluck every hair she could get as she would go back and overlook the brows multiple times. She also had a magnify glass which made it easier for her to see all the hairs up close. The price for my brows costed 25 bucks without tip. This is the most I've paid for brows and It is a bit expensive in my opinion but I think her attention to detail and not rushing really makes up for the cost because you know she will clean you up very well and get all the hair she can. She is the first person I've liked in the Bay Area since I usually always get my brows done in SoCal but would recommend! She also takes walk ins and can text her to make an appt! read more

I've been going to Helen for maybe 4 times already and not going to lie....this place is a little expensive for eyebrows...or maybe I'm just broke. Lol I still choose to get my eyebrows threaded my Helen because I KNOW my brows will look bomb at the end of the visit. Helen herself is super nice and will listen to your needs and wants. I've had Helen thread my brows twice now and I have only wonderful things to say about her. She's careful, thoughtful, and great at eyebrows. She sketches out where she'll thread first, gets your okay, and then gets to work. Her threading is fast and accurate and as painless as threading can be. She uses a nice aloe at the end to calm/cool your brows, and you leave looking fresh and well shaped. She is cash only, but there's a Chase ATM right across the street. I paid $25 for brows, plus a $5 tip for $30 total in August of 2022. She's worth it! I just text her to make an appointment and it's easy to find free parking in the area in the mornings, just a short walk away. I will definitely be back! read more

I loved getting my eyebrows threaded here! Helen did a great job. I've only had treading done in a salon before, where it was more of a side gig. This was much more thorough, and the end result was worth it. I felt like I had taken my eyebrows to the spa. If you've never had your eyebrows threaded before, yes, it hurts a bit, but in my opinion it's hurts less than waxing, and the results are a lot cleaner. There is more detail in the shaping that can be done. Tweezing might be less painful, but it takes so long, and you miss out on the other eyebrow sculpting that takes place when you get them done professionally. Five stars for doing a great job and being really nice--and for all the COVID precautions that made me feel comfortable. read more

I love coming here. Threading is never going to be completely painless but Helen's technique makes it almost painless. She's very meticulous and takes her time shaping your brows to perfection. Wow! I've never had a better eyebrow threader, and I used to manage a threading salon. Helen really takes her time to give your eyebrows the attention to detail they deserve. Unlike other shops, she really creates a relaxing environment with a soft, padded chair that allows you to lay down. You're left looking up at her beautiful skylight. She even wears magnifying goggles to ensure she gets every hair! Once she's through, she gets any missed hairs with tweezers. Then, she finishes you off with an incredible lymphatic drainage massage. I have been threading my eyebrows for 18 years now. and back in Jakarta, after getting my eyebrows done by close to a dozen people, there was only one person who I felt did a consistently good job. She's still on my WhatsApp and I STILL see her every single time I go home. Well.. when I moved to the East Bay, I wasn't sure if I was going to find someone I really trusted to do my eyebrows. See, in the past 3 years or so upon becoming a Mom, I've stopped going as regularly. This only makes it harder for whomever I thread with to do a consistent job at styling my eyebrows because every visit means another reshaping as opposed to a touch-up/cleaning. Eyebrows aren't all alike. Some like it thin, others thick. Some like a distinct arch, while others like a barely noticeable arch. And regardless of your personal preference, your natural eyebrows will determine if its even realistic. Well, I've visited Helen a few times over the past 2 years (look up Montclair Threading Lounge for her previous location) and she has ALWAYS done a great job. My eyebrows aren't naturally symmetrical and my left eyebrow even has a bald spot. Yet Helen always does a good job making both appear identical. She usually uses a chalk-like pen to draw the final shape over your eyebrows to check if it meets your personal style preference and ensure accuracy, which I appreciate. While my previous threadists have taken 5-10 minutes to get the job done, with Helen it usually takes 20-30 minutes... and it SHOWS. Somehow, she manages to turn something that's akin to Medieval torture into a short visit to the spa. She's sweet, gentle, thoughtful, and sensitive to your twitches and tears (literally, because if you've never tried it before, it is ALWAYS some degree of painful), and she gives your a very short but sweet rub of a cooling and gentle lotion at the end of it all. For the last 8 years, I've been seeing the same person for my eyebrows in SF. I recently moved to Montclair and had been out of town for the last few weeks. Instead of making the trek to SF (just for my eyebrows), I decided to Yelp someone local to Montclair and nearby. I was shocked to find someone who did eyebrow threading walking distance from my home and had all 5 star reviews. I gave her a call immediately and she scheduled me the same day. Helen was careful and made the experience delightful. Since it was my first time visiting her, I think she noticed I was a little nervous. She drew the shape and outline first via powder pen before plucking away. I felt much more at ease that she was thoughtful to make sure it would turn out the way I want them. Helen was fantastic and her prices are reasonable, especially given the time and detail she puts in to make her work looking the best. I will definitely be visiting Helen again soon. read more

I moved from San Francisco to Montclair two years ago -- and I was so happy to find Helen to do my threading -- actually I was somewhat Shocked to find this wonderful woman in Montclair, as I didn't yet know the many wonderful people and businesses here at that time. So I have been seeing Helen about once a month for threading for two years, and she is the best I have worked with, hands down! Threading is far superior to waxing, especially for women as we get older -- it's just more gentle on the skin. Helen is lovely, patient, sweet, and very skillful. I feel so lucky to have found her! One other nice thing about Helen is that she uses text messaging to book appointments -- easy. But she also takes phone calls too.
