I wanted to give an updated review of my experience at Goeun Beauty spa. Today, I renewed my package because my skin not only looks amazing, but has gradually been improving. As I have been coming to my monthly spa appointments, each appointment was a slightly different face and neck treatment. And I really appreciated Joy using different techniques and also the package was really worth it because she used different devices on my face, hands, and neck and I felt that because of those devices that hit different types of treatments really improved the quality of my skin. Also, the spa products that Joy used on my skin smells so fresh and the ingredients are most likely better than the over the counter products that I purchase. read more

This rating could have easily been 1 star solely based on my esthetician, Joy. To make it clearer = this rating has nothing to do with the business, just the esthetician alone. I love supporting good local businesses like this but today was not good. Mind you, I'm a very easy going and simple gal, I don't expect much from people but this was very upsetting for me because I didn't understand the hostile energy from her. I understand the majority of people in the comments section raving about how great she was with them etc, but I find myself agreeing with the person who wrote about her (under the 1 star review on her face being burned) saying she's unwelcoming -- it's unfortunately true. No exaggerations. I came in genuinely excited to get a Korean facial since I haven't had one for a couple years... but the moment my name was called by Joy to go into the room, her facial expression did not show any friendliness or even a smile at me when I was walking toward her. I didn't want to assume anything until it was time for her to get started on my face. When she came back in the room to get everything going, honest to God I felt some serious fakeness in her tonality/politeness when she tried to make small talk with me lol. I will spare the rest of the details because it's too long to type, but I will finish off by saying that the treatment itself was not relaxing or as gentle either. I intentionally chose to remain silent throughout the entire service because I wanted to trust that she would somehow make it better with what she was doing but she didn't. It didn't feel like she cared, it felt like she was doing it just to get it done if that makes sense. Wasn't sure if I wanted to leave a review about this but I wanted to let people know about my experience specifically with Joy, just in case in ends up happening to someone else (hope it doesn't). I wish it didn't go this way but it did. It is what it is tho. I've made it known to the owner Gina immediately after getting out from the room that it was "interesting." I then decided to give Gina a call soon after getting back into my car to fully share exactly what happened, and Gina decided to show care in that moment and have apologized on Joy's behalf. She then texted me to make things a little better and I appreciated it... therefore I've decided to give this place one more try in the next couple months, and Gina will be working on my face from there on. This 3 stars rating will change to a higher rating *after* seeing how it goes with Gina in the next couple months to make sure everything goes more smoothly. And I'm sure it will, but won't change it until that day comes. read more

Me and my girlfriends have been coming for a facial once a month for the past 3 month! We have been researching about Korean Beauty treatments for awhile and was so excited to find a place close to us. We all had a consultation with Gina, who was very knowledgeable and realistic in her recommendations based on our skin types. She didn't try to upsell, for the sake of getting us to get an expensive package and encouraged us to pace ourselves on the type of treatments we were interested in. For my 40 yr old skin, She recommended that Rejuvenate LDM treatment for 6 months to first get my skin into a good consistently mIntained condition that is ready for more intense skin treatments. And she was realistic in explaining we get the best results from consistent multiple treatments (which is cheaper if you prepay upfront) versus just trying one time. I've worked with Cindy and Joy and Gina. The clinic is small and private and clean and well maintained not intimidatingly fancy. It can sometimes get hot in the rooms, just communicate so they can setup a fan. Its a treat my girlfriend and I look forward to monthly and so far we are satisfied everytime we go. read more

They reward return membership, so you can purchase "packs" of facials and receive a discount. Parking - there is ample street parking as it's right by a plaza Costs - This place is not inexpensive, so it's a commitment for sure. But that's how it goes with spas/skincare - you get what you pay for, and sometimes you pay in other ways for cutting cost corners! I recommend Goeun if you want a high quality Korean beauty experience. I have been coming to Goeun for about a year. My skin is not the easiest to manage - it's acne prone, sensitive, combination (oily T zone, dry patches on cheeks). I ordered a package of their Recovery facials, which is essentially "buy 5 facials, get 1 free". I have had my facials done by a few different staff members and have enjoyed each one. I usually have a pretty bad "purging" period when trying different facials or products. However, I didn't experience that here. I even came to Goeun as part of my pre-wedding skincare. I unfortunately had some forehead acne (due to stress and diet) a couple months before my wedding. They soothed my skin and gave me tips to improve the bumps. I went in for a follow-up facial a couple weeks later as they recommended. My skin was glowing on my wedding day. My makeup artist even pointed out how smooth and hydrated it was. I'm Korean, so I'm super picky about the a lot of "Korean" spas in the Bay. Many of them are not actually Korean-owned and -operated, but this one is! Goeun Beauty's offerings are very comparable to the facials I get in Korea. The technology and products they use are exactly the same. I will admit, it's definitely not somewhere you come to cheap out; I come here once a month as a "treat myself." I definitely notice a huge difference in my skin right away and after 2 weeks. I've tried the Hifu Lifting Therapy and the High & Goal Facial, and both were incredible! Hannah was lovely and walked me through all the steps I would be going through and also provided some recommendations on products I could use to keep my skin looking healthy. I also appreciated that even though I was the last client, Hannah went overtime to make sure she didn't rush my session which I appreciated given this was a $280 service. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about skincare. Upon consultation with Gina, I ended up doing the deep layer resurfacing RF fractional therapy and the recovery facial. I loved how she was thorough with the numbing cream (there was still pain but endurable) and she even cleaned up my eyebrows. Staff recommended the Regeneration facial because I don't regularly get facials. Includes cleansing, exfoliating, extraction, several masks/ vitamin ampoule, LED, and sunscreen application. Slight brow trim, brief head, neck massage, & arm massage is included in the service. Areas of improvement: I asked the staff but did not receive insight about my skin quality/texture, etc. on dehydration & oily areas; also, did not receive suggestions on skincare products for my current regimen & skin needs. I was searching for a spa that specializes in Korean facials and found Goeun here on Yelp. I booked the High & Goal and it ranks up there as one of the best facials I've ever had. Hannah took really good care of me. After she took my makeup off and triple cleansed my skin, Gina came in to take a look to customize next steps and Hannah took it from there. There was a nice leg massager on the bed throughout the service. She used a handheld electronic device for extractions. I've always had manual extractions before and this was way way more gentle - I was pleasantly surprised. The face, neck and shoulder massage was very relaxing. They gave me a collagen mask and then put me under the LED light. During that time, I received a nice arm and hand massage, and then she put my hands inside individual air pressured hand massagers until the timer was up for my mask and LED. Gina came back in to finish my service with sunscreen, moisturizer and lip balm, and a brief warm towel massage on my back to wipe the massage oil off. The initial results look great - my face has that "glass skin" glow. Hopefully the results stick. Gina recommended some additional services for next time based on what she observed about my skin and face, which I think she got spot on. I do think the Korean style facial targets the particular concerns that I focus on most so I definitely plan on returning. I'm really happy that Goeun exists in the bay area, and that I can get a Korean style facial in the US. I bought package deals for Rejuran and HighGlow Facial (separately), and the price is very reasonable and comparable to Korea. I'm dealing with deep scars (around my temple and cheeks), extremely uneven texture, and discoloration due to having acne during all of my teenage years and 20s, and I'm happy with the results thus far from getting facials from Goeun. They provide the kind of service that actually makes difference and yields long-term benefit (rather than temporary glows). I'm in my late 30s, so it will take some time to reach where I want to be after having deep scars for all of my life, but so far I'm satisfied with the results I'm already seeing after only a couple of visits at Goeun. It took me a long time to decide whether or not to write this review... but I wanted to warn people. I bought a package (5 sessions) of the deep tissue facial treatment, which cost me $1,000+ since each session was around $250 + tip. After all those sessions, starting from Feb of this year, my skin got worse, not better. In fact, the worst thing is, I think it altered my skin type. I used to get hormonal acne around that time of month but would otherwise not have other skin problems. I got the treatment in hopes that it would fade some past acne scars and overall give me clearer skin (since I did have blackheads/whiteheads etc). The treatment did the opposite. I now get acne regularly, and some of the acne is cystic acne (whereas before, it would be pretty surface-level and gone within a few days). Honestly, the treatment was quite abrasive: They used laser to basically burn off a layer of tissue, leaving your face super raw after the facial. It would take about a week for new tissue to resurface. I trusted in the process, thinking it would improve my skin in the long-term. And now I know that the long-term effect was that it got worse. I'm so disappointed with my experience and regretful of doing it. Overall my experience was not great; the owner, who recommended the treatment, didn't offer much explanation about it at all -- I didn't even know it involved a laser. Not only that, one time my aesthetician forgot to give me extractions, and I asked the owner. She said that the treatments "don't come with extractions"; except all 4 previous times, I got them (and for $250, I would hope the facials come with extractions). But the service is not really the main issue. The main issue is that my skin is now worse than it was when I started, and I'm probably going to have to consult a dermatologist on how to treat my new acne-prone skin. I'm sure some people had positive experiences here, but be wary of the reviews - they offer discounts if you submit a positive review, so not all of them are accurate. read more

I saw this place was having a soft opening and since Korean skincare products have been really kind and compatible with my skin, I decided I had to give it a try. The space has two entrances, one from the plaza and one off the main street (Magnolia). While I was there there was a bit of construction, so parking in the plaza was definitely more convenient. The high & goal facial was great - it was a bit more "stimulating" with tapping and upwards sweeping motions than your standard rub your face around motions. She also used a ton of tools, temperatures, and techniques that I had never experienced before. It was awesome! I usually wait a day or two before writing reviews on facials because I want to see how my face reacts afterwards. My skin has never felt better!! It was so great I got the package so I can come here every month and commit to feeling a bit better about my face because I'm doing something good for my skin.
