While visiting the area on a road trip for the UTBS music festival, my husband and I needed a place to safely board our dogs for the day and overnight. We had never boarded our dogs before, so I was very apprehensive, but after reading several positive reviews, decided to make a reservation with Three Dog Ranch. We have two large great Pyrenees mixes so I requested that they be boarded in their own double bunkhouse. The staff were very kind and attentive and took the time to get to know our dogs and their unique personalities. I was able to enjoy the concert with my husband and when we picked our dogs up the following morning, they seemed happy and healthy. They did not appear distressed, and I am assuming they had a wonderful sleepover full of excitement because they slept hard the next day. This was our first time using Three Dog Ranch, and also our dog's first time boarding. I feel fortunate that he didn't have any injuries or accidents requiring a vet visit for now. I do believe their staff work to keep the dogs safe. However, when we picked up our dog, his whole body still smelled strongly of urine, and parts of him were still not dry. I could even see his paw prints in it. We dropped him off clean, so it's concerning to think he might have been sitting in urine during the days of boarding. Another issue was their internal communication. We arranged via email with Steph to drop off medication that needed to be given the morning after our pickup day (my email was titled "Aug. 11 for our dog"). But when we picked him up, a staff member at the Whitefish location said he read "Aug. 14" on the note and didn't administer the medication. They never called or checked with us to clarify. While these may seem like small details, I had higher expectations before choosing this place. I wouldn't say they neglected the dogs, but there are definitely areas--like communication and cleanliness--that could be improved. read more

The guys at Three Dog Ranch took amazing care of our pup, she's super energetic and never runs out of energy but she must've got to play her heart out at the ranch because when she got in the car she was napping almost immediately. The guy at the front desk was so kind and reassured us our pup would be in great hands for the day, we were able to call and check in if we needed and everything. They were amazingly kind good at their jobs. They truly care about each pup! 10/10 would recommend if you're in the area or just passing through for travels. read more

My dog plays hard and is a great candidate for doggie play groups but needs proper introduction to groups and care regarding her leash aggression and anxiety. They nailed it. My dog LOVES this place so much!! I've been taking her there once a week since she was a puppy (over a year now) to help her with socialization and much needed "energy burn-off". She gets super excited as soon as we turn into the driveway and can barely contain herself! The staff is very friendly and always calm with the dogs. We have boarded her there now a few times too and she STILL loves going, so boarding was obviously not a bad experience for her (or us). She always has a good time, and I've never had any issues. I thought I would stop taking her there after a while but now the weekly few hours of day-care has become a treat she looks forward to so much, I've decided to continue. We used to take our previous dog there many years ago before she passed, and despite some changes in staff since then, the experience is still always a very good one. We boarded our two dogs at Three Dog Ranch for two nights while we explored Glacier. We didn't realize (due to our own lack of reading) that their Sunday hours are different from their regular hours. We were out of service so couldn't double check until we got into town, and so we just assumed we'd be able to pick them up mid-morning. When we arrived to pick up the dogs, they were closed and not reopening for another 6hrs. We have an 8hr drive ahead of us, and couldn't leave at 3pm. Ken, the owner, pulled up to do some maintenance and was incredibly understanding and helpful. He helped complete our checkout and get the dogs, even though they were technically closed, which allowed us to leave on time. He was understanding and explained how they work hard to improve and see things from a customer's perspective. The dogs are in great condition and got a nail trim while they were there. Our dog has stayed here multiple times and it has been "ok" and only ok. However, we had a stay booked which we cancelled due to a death in the family and 3 dog chose to hold our $300 deposit and not refund or apply it to a future stay in spite of us telling them we had a death in our immediate family. They stole our deposit and refuse to refund or speak with us regarding it. When we call, there is no answer. They choose to communicate-via text. How can we be penalized for a death in the family? This in unbelievable. Their refusal to speak with us via phone(manager Sam is a crook) along with holding our deposit in spite of the stay being cancelled is beyond belief. Her exact words "I am sorry to hear about your loss. However, we do have a cancellation policy in place which we follow in order to be consistent with all of our clients". Seriously? As if we can plan for that??? Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. They don't care about your dog or your family. We will be disputing the charge and reporting to BBB. Stay away! I worked at Three Dog Ranch for over a year. For the most part I really enjoyed this job, but unfortunately bad management will make any good employee leave eventually. Three dog does a very good job of making you think your dogs are in the best quality care, but that is not true. They lie about putting personal belongings like beds and toys in the kennels, leaving dogs on a cold hard plastic bed. They also advertise heated flooring and AC in the summer, however that is a lie as well. The "bunkhouse" has no air conditioning in the summer, and I've seen it get dangerously warm in there with the pups. For dogs that join the daycare program while boarding, keep in mind even if your fur baby was only in daycare for an hour that day, they will still charge you for a full day. Small town daycare is completely unattended, leaving the possibility for dogs to get into fights and cause injury. And lastly, management has a very bad habit of talking poorly about their clients behind closed doors. Throughout my time working there, I was promised multiple raises that I never saw, as well as had my hard earned tips revoked from me due to being sick 1 day in that month. They treat their employees like pawns in a chess game, moving them wherever benefits them best. These owners are selfish, and do not truly care about your dogs or your family. Please consider taking your pups and your business elsewhere. read more

Not good for grooming. I have a dog with an undercoat and he should not be shaved. They shaved my dog when I wanted a trim. I thought it was just an inexperienced groomer which they should have not had grooming but I figured oh well I just will not go back but then I learned they have done this to other dogs without being asked. So I would not take my dog there for grooming because obviously they are not trained groomers. read more

Our three dogs Bodhi, Eire, and Daisy love coming to Three Dog Ranch. This is unusual, since they used to be afraid of going to boarding facilities. We know that they are very well cared for and given LOTS of recreational time. The grooming services are exceptional. I love picking them up after their baths, even when they seem reluctant to leave :) Three Dog Ranch goes above and beyond for their people customers too. A few months ago, my husban and I received their prescription dog food at our house when we were both out of town. I could have driven back from East Glacier to take it to The Ranch, but they happily offered to go and pick it up at our home in Whitefish and bring it over for our dogs, before they ran out. This place is amazing!! The owners put so much time and effort into creating a safe and loving environment. They have many different options of boarding/daycare and grooming needs. They also sanitize the kennels every day in between letting the dogs out to play. They have huge yards for your dogs to play and have employees that hang out in the boarding area to accommodate your dogs needs and make sure they get lots of love and attention. This is such a hidden gem for dog owners. We initially were day boarding our dog, Dudley, but had them keep him overnight so we could do more hiking in Glacier. They gladly accommodated our last minute change. The staff is friendly and clearly cares for the pets. We just had a terrific experience boarding our three Portuguese Water Dogs at Three Dog Ranch. The staff are friendly, informative and clearly love dogs. It is very easy to reserve boarding or daycare on the Three Dog user-friendly website and any inquires we made via phone or email were answered promptly. Their comprehensive pre-boarding questionaire indicates that they are truly concerned about addressing our dogs' needs and that they care about their safety. One of our dogs is older (he is approaching 16 years old) and they were happy to give him his vitamins and the extra attention he needs. The other two have tons of energy and loved the facility and playing with the other dogs. We appreciate the option to have the three dogs stay together during the night and to have them bathed before we picked them up. Would give zero stars if possible!!! We took our dog Roux here last week in hopes of finding a great place to board our dog while vacationing in Whitefish Montana. Unfortunately, the place we were staying with our families was not dog friendly so, after some research decided Three Dogs Ranch would a be suitable place for our puppy of 9 months. This was the first, and last time we will be boarding our dog Roux as it ended in a trip to the vets office. To start, upon arriving we were greeted by an extremely unpleasant man who seemed to be more interested in hurrying through the check in process than actually greeting my dog and I. After getting through the check in process roux was taken by a nice girl who seemed to really care about the dogs which was the only reason I left her in the first place. If it wasn't for this young lady we would have left right then and there with our dog. Roux was supposed to stay Monday through Friday, but her stay ended abruptly as Roux was found on the second morning with her harness in pieces. She had chewed the harness off, and they were unaware if she had consumed any of it. Three Dog Ranch left our 9 month old puppy in her harness for the entire stay!!!!!! Two days and two nights! Of course she chewed it off!! THANKFULLY, we were still in Whitefish and drove immediately to Roux to retrieve her so that we could take her to the vet to make sure she wasn't in danger, as eating collars and harnesses can be deadly to dogs. When we arrived my boyfriend went in to get Roux, from Alan ( I was an emotional wreck thinking that she could be seriously hurt) and things went south quickly from there. Alan, the owner of three dog ranch, ended our interaction by threatening my boyfriend, swearing at him, and then stood directly in his face as if he were going to initiate a physical altercation. Alan even said "f*** you" to my boyfriend under his breath, and "you don't want to start a pissing match with me" while trying to defend Three Dog Ranch. After x-rays, and a 300$ vet bill we found out that our beloved pet was okay, and will never be returning to that ranch. If you would like your dog to be left in uncomfortable conditions for its entire stay with extremely unprofessional and rude people, three dog ranch is the place for your dog! P.s. They also had another dog that was staying there in the vets office for the same reason (eating it's collar off) If you do happen to board your dog here, remind Alan and the rest of his crew to remove your pets collars and harnesses to insure your pets safety. read more

When It comes to kennels how much is there really to say? From the dogs perspective, they have a warm place to sleep, someone feeds them, and they can go to the bathroom, all while being safe. So long as these needs are being addressed in a kind and nurturing way, they are happy or as happy as they can be while being separated form the pack. Have kenneled our dogs here over the past few years. Never had an issue. That is saying a lot. The operators here have staff that are familiar with handing boarder patrol dogs, which routinely makes stays there. This was important to us because it let us know the handlers would be able to keep our dogs in check or at least not be afraid to be lovingly stern with them. It also gave us a sense of peace knowing that a group of toy dogs would not be staying in the same kennel as ours. If you have smaller or toy dogs, there is definitely a place for them. Most likely in the office or in one of the luxury suites. But someone else will need to do that review. Only big dogs here. Our dogs come back tired from barking at the neighbor dogs in the larger communal kennels which is exactly how we like them. The kennels are clean but when you pack a bunch of large animals in a room together for an extended stay they just need a bath afterwards. The staff has always been great. The hired staff who actually work in the kennels do an especially great job interacting with the critters. We trust them and like them. Book in advance, because this place fills out quick outside shoulder season. They take calls in the early morning and again later in the afternoon. read more

I came out to Glacier from Maryland and wanted to have my dog play for the day while I went and explored. They were super easy to work with online when I had to set up for dog camp. As soon as he went in, he felt comfortable and was ready to play. I was not worried about him all day and when I picked him up, he was exhausted from his day. I would highly recommend them and if I come back again with my dog, I wouldn't hesitate to bring him back! read more

I have been taking my 2 poodle-mixed dogs to Three Dog Ranch for over five years. My dogs thrive there. They share an executive suite but sometimes the owners, Allen and Lisa Durand, let them hang out with them in the kitchen. Both my dogs need daily medications, but one has been recovering from a deadly disease -IMT, which requires extra special attention. I have been hesitant to travel due to this, but recently boarded them for 10 days. The sick one had her blood work done the day after I returned and her numbers were normal for the first time in four months!! I will not leave my dogs anywhere else in the Flathead Valley. read more

We had a reservation for our two dogs for the night and had such an unpleasant and frankly concerning check in experience just now that we took our dogs, left, and had to give up our hotel reservation for the night (at our expense because of the late notice). The woman at the office--believe her name is Lisa--claimed to have not gotten our vet's fax with their health info and not to have gotten our phone call this morning to be sure everything was in order before we dropped them off this afternoon. She was rude and defensive, saying she had received no faxes and no phone calls and that we had not called this morning or she would have known it. In the meantime, some guy who obviously worked there walked right by our dogs without any acknowledgement that they were there--not a good sign in a boarding facility. She told us we could leave them or not and then started ignoring us and talking to someone else who came in. We made the call to leave, despite the disruption to our plans and the money we would lose on the hotel. When we left, we called the vet and the office informed that they had faxed the info last Tuesday and had the time stamp to prove that it had been received. At the very least, they are disorganized (which does not bode well for pet care), and at the most, they are untruthful, arrogant, and not to be trusted. Our pets will never be left there again. If they treat customers this way (especially surprising for new clients), then there is no telling how they treat the pets. Update: Alan called and left a message (surely in response to this review) and reiterated that they never received the fax and we should check without vet. As mentioned earlier, we did check and have the time stamp for the receiving of it at the correct number. Here's the deal--1). If they had not received the info before we got there, they had days to contact us and tell us that before we came in. They did not do that. 2). Their insistence that there was never a call from us to check whether the info had arrived is just plain untrue. We have two calls on one of our phones to that number the morning of the reservation and no calls back from them. The time record of the calls from our phone show that they were long enough to have left a message. They never returned the call. Overall, besides their rudeness and insistence that it was OUR fault--evidence to the contrary--they continue to double down and blame us and defend themselves. A bad business practice to be sure. How one does anything is how he or she does everything. Another tip for anyone considering using this facility--they will charge you a second night if you do not pick up your pet during the morning window, yet when we called initially to inquire about prices, they did not explain that and just told us the charge per day/night and gave us two windows for picking up the dogs. When we got there, we were given a piece of paper saying that we would be charged another night if they were not picked up by 11AM. So, basically, we got there around 4pm and they would have charged us another night if we had picked them up in the afternoon window. In other words, their definition of a day is not 24 hours. We would have been charged for TWO nights if they were not picked up by 11, which by our math is well less than a full day. Beware people with this sort of attitude and these sorts of practices! read more

I have used several different boarding kennels for my German shepherd in the past, for short overnight stays and longer trips. Just moved the the area so I am trying to find a good place to board. After speaking with the person working at 3 dog ranch about how much time my dog would be able to "play" and socialize while at the kennel (I don't like leaving him at a place that just sticks them in a kennel and leaves them to bark all day), I was assured that he would have lots of play time and would be incorporated into "play care" with the other dogs since we moved to the area and he would become a regular. This being the more expensive kennel in the area, I thought maybe that meant their care would be quality! I left my dog for one night, dropped him off in the morning and was going to pick up the next day. We picked him up the next afternoon, and he was more wound up than I have ever seen him. I have a super low energy German shepherd and I've never seen him so hyper after coming home from boarding! My assumption was that he was not allowed to play and basically sat in a kennel getting antsy all day listening to other dogs bark (and barking himself I'm sure). Secondly, I was aware that picking up after 11 am would cost you and extra day, but I didn't realize they meant an extra "overnight" charge. So I payed for 2 full nights even though I picked up my dog before the end of their "day care" hours. Not too fair if you ask me, especially because it doesn't require any energy on their part to leave my dog sat sitting around the whole time in a kennel, and send him home still needing a whole days worth of exercise. Not really impressed with this place, as other kennels I have used send my dog home nice and tired from playing and socializing all day. I'll will definitely try out a different kennels in the area for next time. read more

This is not a response to the boarding. I brought my poodles here for grooming. I talked to them to see if they do poodle cuts and they led me to believe they could. I normally pay a total of 85 bucks for grooming in the city. They charged me 126 for both after quoting me 116. It became painfully obvious after getting dogs home they had no idea about grooming poodles. The hair was not evenly cut. There were patches of matted hair. Very ugly. I was embarrassed for my dog. I called and they said they would fit her in for a cut in a couple of weeks, but I had to leave town. They offered no refund or apology. It's amateur hour up there as far as poodle cuts. I'm sure they are good for other breeds, but they were not honest in regard to their grooming knowledge for poodles. Hilarey B read more

The Three Dog Ranch was a great place for our 9 month old puppy while we were visiting Glacier National Park (Dogs are not allowed anywhere except the campgrounds). Lisa the owner was very excited to match our playful puppy up with other boarding dog friends for playtime throughout the day. Clean spaces for the dogs, both indoor and outdoor space, with larger outdoor space to play during playtime. The dogs even have TVs to watch animal planet while in the kennels. This place made me feel really good about enjoying my time hiking through the beautiful National Park knowing my puppy was having fun, and being well taken care of. Would use Three Dog Ranch again if in the Area. read more
