The unit was extremely hot, completely unusable, and we could not stay in it. We called immediately and asked to be moved, and were told the new unit was "much better" and "more upscale." We were then moved to Eagle's Nest Retreat, and after spending over an hour and a half trying to get settled, we walked into a unit that was absolutely unacceptable. There were bugs and stains on the ceiling, including a boot print, mildew throughout the tarp ceiling, and bugs/spiders crawling above the bed. We were bitten all night. The shower and bath were exposed on a walking path, offering no privacy or sense of safety. The wind was blowing around 22 mph during the night, causing the tarp ceiling to flap loudly and the entire unit to shake. It was impossible to relax or feel secure. The whole space felt dirty, neglected, and unsafe. I've attached photos from Eagle's Nest Retreat so others can see exactly what we walked into. For the price and the long drive, this was extremely disappointing. This was supposed to be a relaxing birthday retreat, but instead it was stressful, uncomfortable, and nothing like what is advertised. I would not recommend staying here.

Everywhere I looked I saw a previously unseen detail that was hand crafted and worthy of further investigation. *The outside deck: spanned the whole length of the home which overlooks the Colorado River basin & wide open skies. There are 4 separate seating areas which allowed us to spread out in a number of small conversation groups - one space has a lovely gas fire table! Or more of us could gather together in the larger spaces. *Wildlife! - butterflies, birds, humming birds and more - a flurry of activity to watch and enjoy... *There was also a hammock under the beautiful canopy of a tree strung with fairly lights... it called to me and I answered it's call! *Sleeping accommodations : All were unique and well appointed. Each bedroom has it's own cozy covered porch and full bathroom. There are futons in the loft which we also made use of. The loft area also has a space that is set up for working - if you have to log in to work while you are there. *For this particular weekend, the WWR owners had made us a deal for three meals a day at a fair price. It was a wonderful perk to not have to cook, nor leave the property! All the way around, the hosts were amazing! *It was rainy the weekend we were there, so we didn't spend time at the pool / outdoor tiki bar area.... but we will next time! Looking forward to it !

The staff and manager were incredibly friendly and helpful and laid back! I could only find a few issues with the villa. There were hairs in our tub, so I cleaned it myself prior to my wife and I using it (which I didn't mind doing, as I am not snobby or beneath a little cleaning). Also, the bathroom window has no blinds or curtain, so when other guests decide to venture down to our patio, we have to be lucky not to be showering or standing nude at the time that they do. However, these couple little things are not enough to make me lower my rating of the place! Overall, the villa is amazing! A nice place to have that luxury feeling while being the perfect place to relax! I HIGHLY recommend this place for romantic getaways or for relaxation getaways. My wife and I would love to go again sometime for another mini romantic getaway from the kids.

I read previous reviews that they did this! We had to find a hotel to stay in with less than an hour before check-in! We wanted to spend our 10 YEAR anniversary on the lake. Otherwise there are much better hotels in downtown Houston. Don't waste your time, just go ahead and book somewhere else!

We came a little unprepared with no food but the campsite has lots of meal kits that you can cook. We got two steaks, eggs, and some bacon. Everything tastes great cooked by a camp fire! Despite the historically low water levels, we could not have had a better time, as always. The owners have gone to incredible lengths to ensure that The Famous Float House continues to deliver on its reputation as one of the most fun, uniquely situated, spots on all of Lake Travis for all ages. And like we always do, we were totally able to rent a Tri-toon boat from a local marina and motor it into the canal where the Float House is located and then use the awesome motorized dingy the Float House owners provide to run people and coolers out to the Tri-toon for then our usual amazing afternoon on Lake Travis. The whole thing was a breeze. And the new little motorized dingy is so much fun to have at the Float House to cruise around in and fish from. Anyhow, it could not have been a better, more fun weekend and we can't wait to go back later this season.
