I had a brand new nurse, Harley who took care of me on night shift and she did a great job. I think she is going to make an excellent nurse as she goes along. thank you to all my nurses for doing such good work and special thanks to Jenn for excellent technique with IV's.

Everyone here is super-nice and respectful. 2. My privacy has been respected. I mean, they keep the door shut when you're buck naked in bed, or having a procedure performed. 3. Everyone is genuinely interested in helping you recover your health so you can get back to your life. Cons: 1. Sometimes when you use the call button to summon some help, they might forget about you. (I'll grant that you might be trying to reach someone when it's super-busy, but this happens more often than I'd like to see. Surely there's a solution to this problem.) 2. The menu is BORING! There are only so many days a person can eat overcooked scrambled eggs and tough turkey sausage. Thankfully, you have a little wiggle room if you can get hold of their "Menu at a Glance" which has a few different options you can request by calling down to the dietary office. 3. I use CPAP therapy, but I was only allowed to use a hospital-approved machine. A very loud hospital-approved machine with a very ill-fitting face mask. I mean, it got the job done, and I didn't suffocate in my sleep, but... That's all I can say about that. All in all, it's been a good stay, if you can forget you're in a hospital. I realize that everyone's experience with TriStar Horizon may differ. We've all heard the horror stories about different facilities. As for my experience, it's been pretty good, no horror stories and only a few minor inconveniences. No major complaints. I'm happy I chose to be treated here. And I recommend them.

I was involved in a car accident on Highway 13, north of Erin. Flew through the air, down into a…read moredeep gully, totaling the car. The ambulance arrived, cleaned off the blood and transported me to this place. I cannot imagine a worse level of medical "care". They put me on a bed in the ER, hooked me up to a monitor and took my vitals. And left me. After an indeterminate amount of time (apparently most of the staff were dealing with the woman in the next bed who "fell" and was screaming for demerol because that's what her doctor ALWAYS gives her), a doctor came in, poked me in the ribs a few times and said he would need an x-ray. After more waiting, they rolled me down the hall to radiology, where I was x-rayed. Turns out the ribs were not broken, so they gave me an anti-inflammatory shot and sent me home. Never cleaned or dressed my cuts and abrasions. Never even did a cursory exam for concussion. Told me if the ribs didn't feel better soon, I should follow up with my primary care physician.

Well she lives only about 20 minutes from Erin, so the doctor that did her surgery, wanted her to go to the nearest hospital, and just have a CT scan done, to make sure that she didn't have a blood clot in her lungs. She got there between 4:30 and 5:00 pm. it was 3 hours later that they finally got around to doing anything for her. Then only to tell her that she was dehydrated and that he had to run some fluids in before he could do the CT scan. He ask her why did she come there instead of going to Vanderbilt where she had the surgery, she told him that the doctor just wanted her to go to the closest hospital just to have the CT scan run. This Dr. Lye I think was his name a African American doctor said to her so Vanderbilt wants us to take care of their problems. He was very rude to her. Just about scared her to death he told her that she had something wrong with her artery, and that they will need to call lifefligh. He did not have enough common sense to know that he was looking at where they had repaired her heart. Then he went on to say that he was going to try something else, so after putting fluids in her he started her on Lasix, this was around 11:00 pm. About 12:30 am., he decides to transfer her to Vanderbilt, only after the doctors in Nashville were not getting any feedback from him they requested him to transfer her to Vanderbilt, needless to say at 3:00 am. He finally sent her to Nashville. So would I ever recommended this hospital to anyone, no way, and I will let everyone I know the treatment she got there I have never seen any hospital that a person coming in with known heart problems that they did not see them right away. So I would suggest, if you need anything done go to Dickson, and bypass this Hospital all together. I would like to give this hospital a -star rating.

They could not diagnose an asthma exacerbation OR a case of shingles. I walked back out with nothing but a prescription for some cream. I continued to struggle til Monday when I could see my REAL doctor, the pulmonologist . Then today, my pulmonologist sent me to get a nasal swab ( respiratory viral panel) at this hospital. She said to go in admittance, I did. They sent me to ER , I go to ER and they insist on ADMITTING me. OK. So she get vitals and does the swab then tells me to sit back out in the waiting room. I said what for, I just needed a test done, she said you still have to see a doctor. I wait. We are talking about the hospital....................... She comes and gets me and takes me down to the back hall and sits me on a bed , IN THE HALL. When does a doctor come see you IN THE HALL ??? He told them what I had continued to try to tell them. I didn't need admitted, it was just for a test !!!! So I wait longer for them to un-admit me... and wait. Finally someone comes to tell me the nurse was "working on it". WORKING ON WHAT ??? There was nothing to "work on" except the extra work they caused themselves. This has become a totally incompetent hospital. Oh, you thought that I was done...nope. after I finally walked out, they call me and I answer. She said I needed to come back in TO ADMITTANCE so I wouldn't get charged emergency room visit. I'm sick, struggling to breath with every step , mind you. I go back in ADMITTANCE without my paper orders anymore cause the nurse kept it , so I give my name and the long story. She has to get on the phone to find out what's going on and the AGAIN tells me I need to go....nowhere, I'm done with that run around game , where I'm taking my sick self is HOME !!!!

They have a policy for patients about being late or unable to attend an appointment, but the doctors are constantly running late without apologies or explanations. What I'm hearing from their policies is, their time is important and valuable and our time is not important or valuable. I will have to finish this review with the full report of our doctors visit after and if we get seen at all today. Just to be clear, we were here to check-in 20 minutes early, now they are 10 minutes late with at least calling us back from the waiting room area. Please see Updated Review after our Doctor Visit. ***UPDATE*** Unbelievable, uncaring and unfortunate, MCCH you should be ashamed to have doctors not treating patients and calling that healthcare. No Compassion, none. I understand MCCH is recording doctor patient visits on iPhone as a backup for notes and updating patients records, we've been doing that too, for years. That's the same reason we go to appointments together, to help each other remember, we also still take some hand written notes. This doctor never touched the patient, not a stethoscope to listen to her breathing or checking the feet of a type 1 diabetic, no looking in ears or throat, feeling limp nodes for irregularities. Everyone knows diabetes is an autoimmune disease, so leaving us sitting in a full waiting room most likely wasn't medically prudent. Once again i'm unhappy with MCCH selection of a representative, a patient should never be treated like this, give us our dignity back. Looking at the signs in your lobby, you already know there is a problem. Now, look inward and solve it. Most of your nurses and office staff are fantastic, I feel sorry for them taking the abuse because of the negligence of the doctors and, let's be honest it neglecting your duties as a medical professional establishment.

The emergency room staff was kind and considerate of all my needs. My admitting physician Dr. Kelly and my surgeon Dr. Blalock were excellent. Many thanks for all the care and compassion.
