This is a good, chill bar with great grass fed burgers. They have a stellar happy hour special, burger and beer for $12.... and it's quality food! This bar is frequented by families so be warned, if you come for the happy hour special you might see a stroller or two; however since it is pretty spacious there is no reason to fret. My fiancé and I threw our engagement party in their private room, and we could not have been happier with it. I'm the type of person that has to look into every single event space before I decide on one, but I was passing by one day, checked it out, and decided in that moment that we would do it there. The staff was so accommodating to our every desire, and just kind/welcoming throughout the process. There was no rental fee for the room and we doubled the beverage minimum. We also had the event on a weekday so it wasn't too busy, and we were able to spill out onto the main floor. I highly suggest having any kind of party there. Many of our guests asked how they could host an event there as well. From the decorations, the hospitality, and the food/drinks, look no further. read more

I felt this place was confusing. Simple setup, but I understand this is a pop up. Felt like we were at a picnic in a city park complete with a giant stroller at the table next to us with the new mom walking around the whole place with her baby singing and dancing to it. To the left of us there was a table set up as a farm stand with a man selling potatoes and radishes to people walking in. There is no wait service. To place a drink or food order, or pick up the drinks you have to walk up to the bar. What is ballsy though is that they have tip suggestions on the check ranging from 15 to 20 percent. What am I tipping for?? We ordered the lamb meatballs which came with polenta which were good and the chicken schnitzel which was atrocious - just a paper thin dry chicken cutlet on a bed of chopped lettuce. Was tasked with throwing an extremely last minute wrap party for 200 cast and crew for the TV show I work for. Cannot stress how taken care of I felt in the planning process and how easy it was. As someone who had never planned anything like this and only really had like 5 days to do it, Angie answered all of my questions and helped me pick out the menu and figure out the timing. Not to mention it was by far the most affordable option we looked at. Music, food, decor, and all that jazz was a quick check, check, check. Angie and the whole team were so kind and relaxed and on top of it. The vibes were truly off the chart, food was incredible (shout out to Greenpoint Fish and Lobster chefs, their catering partner), atmosphere was so cozy and gorgeous without feeling cramped. Our bartenders were incredibly kind, fun, and on top of their games, which really added to the fun of the night. People were drinking, eating, laughing, dancing and all around having a grand 'ol time. It was a massive success, and I fully owe it to the Three's team. Major love for them! read more

I had my birthday party at Threes@Franklin & Kent and it couldn't have gone smoother. Alyssa from the beginning made things so simple to plan. She answered all my questions and gave me suggestions that worked perfectly with theme I was using. Alyssa followed up with me right up to the day of the party. I knew from the beginning I was in good hands. The day if the party Alise was there to help me with anything I needed. She and the staff there were amazing!! It is a week after my party and my guests are still raving about Threes, staff, the food and drinks. They were so impressed with everyone, there customer service was outstanding!! Needless to say my guests and I enjoyed the party with no worries. Everyone from servers to bartenders made sure we were all well taken care of and everyone was having a good time!! Well, it happened. They failed to pay their musicians and they have stopped doing gigs here. For a minute they were a terrific live music and comedy venue. They could have kept it going with a nominal live entertainment door charge. Now,Threes is just another big dark bar selling a nice selection of beer with some light bites on the side. Those locals who remember the Binky Griptite shows here look sadly upon the place these days. I guess they figured the beer tourists wouldn't notice. read more

After months of looking for the perfect spot for our wedding, we are so lucky to have found Three's beautiful location in Greenpoint. Our main goal was to have an intimate, beautiful, stress-free wedding with delicious food that we would forever remember as a wonderful celebration. Thanks to the friendly, fun, and professional staff, our wedding was everything we had envisioned, and we had a great time. Alyssa, the events coordinator, is a rare gem who managed to make the dreaded wedding planning fun. We are eternally grateful Alyssa! Huge thank you to Grayson, Billy Bob, Arber, Athena, and Mike for making the whole event go so smoothly and the kitchen crew for making the most delicious food - That seafood tower! We were really blown away by the level of professionalism and attention to detail at every step of the way, and it was by far the best price of any venue we considered. If you are looking for a venue for any event, I can't recommend this place enough. The decor is cozy and beautiful with candlelight, exposed beams, stained glass, and lots of plants. I recently held a 30th birthday party here in the semi-private room (which is basically private) and it turned out to be a great success! The room was very nicely decorated, had a good amount of mixed tables (low and high tops) as well as an area to bring desserts/food and hang up any decorations. We were also able to play our own music in the room. Our designated server was very attentive and brought drinks out quickly. Overall, Threes @Franklin+Kent was a great place to hold a birthday party especially if you want a private space but don't want to spend a ton of money to reserve one. We were able to reserve the room for free just had to hit a minimum spend. read more

The porter is fantastic, and the rest of the beers are decent. But the food, the food is atrocious! I ordered a salad that sounded typical but tasty. The ingredients were supposed to be arugula, caramelized pears, parmesan cheese, and something else; maybe walnuts? The price was around $9-$12. I received a cardboard fry basket containing arugula and some slimy but crunch pears that had been tossed around in a frying pan. The worst part was that this concoction was drowning in that Kraft phony parmesan cheese powder you can pick up at any corner store. It was inedible. read more

Strollers and babies everywhere! Extremely baby friendly, to the point of offputting if you're not a parent. Nice space but kind of a weird vibe; we went around 3:30 on a Sunday and the music felt too loud for the crowd and time of day. I did not care for either beer I tried. Had the most amazing sandwich last night. It was the avocado with rocket and cotija. The boyfriend had the burger and loved it. Really simple dishes -- no fries or chips to fill you up, but that was okay with me. Portions in the US are insane. If you're into El Gordo size meals this isn't the place for you. This review is mainly for the meathook burger, which I had been looking forward to trying. I had the Lil Burger Buddy Basket and it was a complete disappointment. The patty was thin, tasteless and textured more like the ground beef had been substituted with ground cartilage. The sauced, much too generously lathered on the lettuce to mask that epic meat failure, did not mask the epic meat failure. The bun held up the tasteless mess that was inside of it and so did the French fries which made me momentarily forget how bad the burger was. Am I still a fan on Meathook (the butcher)? Maybe. But I would suggest divorcing their name from that attempt at a burger. My dinning companion compared it to a sporting event burger you'd get only because that's the only choice for hours. Not even the one star on this review was earned by that sorry excuse of a burger but rather by the place, the staff, and the Greenpoint clientele and people watching which took our minds off the bad after taste in our mouths. I cannot say enough great things about having my 30th birthday party at this incredible spot in Greenpoint. I initially wanted to host my party at the original Threes Brewing in Gowanus, but due to another party having booked the space the same night, we were going to have to be out by 1030 and knowing my crowd, that wasn't going to work. Luckily, the wonderful event coordinators I was dealing with at Threes suggested a new, blank space they were trying out where I could truly make the party of my dreams come to life. And that we did. From the bistro lights hanging outside to the restaurant decor to the plants lining the space and a (very tastefully placed) DISCO BALL, all it took was a couple fresh flower arrangements, a DJ and some table re-arranging to make this space dance-party-ready. Not to mention the delicious Threes beer/wine and food spread from Purslane that I was able to customize to my tastes. Gretchen, Alyssa and the entire staff were so professional, helpful, NICE and really went above and beyond to make sure me and my party of sixty of all ages had the best night. This was my first time throwing a big party on my own, and I definitely couldn't have done it without their expertise. It felt like I was planning and hosting a party with my friends and by the end of the night we basically were begging the awesome bartenders to join us on the dance floor. I am still hearing how much fun the party was and how nice it was to go to a party in New York City and have everything taken care of. And that was all I wanted for my 30th. I hosted a surprise party in the Parlor at this location and Alise and Alyssa were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They received our balloon and cake deliveries earlier in the day from an uber driver, which was a life saver. They set up the room beautifully and our server Athena was also awesome. Had my thirtieth birthday here and couldn't have asked for a better experience. I originally chose threes because they have one of my favorite beers. Threes on franklin is overall a gorgeous taproom. The ambiance and decorations in their private room is perfect. Alise and Alyssa assisted with coordination of my party which was seamless. Working with alise was super easy. They allow you to bring additional decorations and bring in outside desserts. They also have great package options that allow you to offer your guest more than just beer. We chose snacks from their menu to serve and they were great. Rachel was our server and she was amazing. I had about 40 guests and Rachel never left anyone empty handed. Her service was quick and efficient. Overall loved my exercise VS with threes and highly recommend throwing your next event there. read more

A friend and I went here for some food and drink this past weekend. I've lived in the neighborhood for years and was excited to try this new place out, as the location is great - but we ended up disappointed and left abruptly. I want to like this place more - the ambiance is warm, and the beers are certainly tasty - but the food and the service were a total disappointment. We both ordered burgers, which at $14 were tiny, and did not come with any fries. A $14 burger is not difficult to come by in this town, and at that price I would (and have come to) expect a much larger portion (this was like an english muffin-sized patty), and coming with fries - or SOMETHING on the side! This had nothing. We spoke very politely with the servers about this, just to register with them that we think this is a rip-off (and that others may likely feel the same) -- and the server got defensive and hostile with us. Like we were the ones at fault. Come on! At this point we quickly finished the food (which didn't take long at all) and left, feeling robbed. Soon after, we were still hungry and got more food at another establishment nearby. As I wrote earlier, I want to like this place, but as long as they are doing this, I can't support them. read more

This is a frustrating review to write, especially since it's their first for this location. I'm a big fan of most of Threes' beers, and though I was sad to see Cassette go, I was excited to have a new potential hangout in the hood (I live five minutes from the Franklin/Greenpoint intersection). What's leading me to leave a one-star review is my experience ordering food yesterday and feeling totally ripped off (as did the rest of my party). I met up with friends to hang out and have some drinks, and since I was hungry, I ordered a grilled cheese. The SIZE of the sandwich was a complete joke--two minuscule triangles that I polished off in about five bites. My friend ordered a burger for $14. It was the size of a slider and didn't come with any sides (if your burgers are that tiny, at least throw in some fries so it's slightly more satiating). The people at the table next to ours were also befuddled by the size of their portions. My friend made a comment to the server about the size of her burger, but he just shrugged. We were all still famished, but didn't want to drop more money at that point, so we got pizza slices on the way home. Normally, I wouldn't leave a one-star review purely on the basis of the food, but I really think it's important for them to get this right, and I'm hoping someone will see this and make the necessary adjustments (in which case I'll be only too happy to revise my review). I've lived in Greenpoint for five years and am always proud to bring friends from other neighborhoods to check out Greenpoint's many wonderful bars and restaurants, but there are few things that frustrate people more when they're drinking than feeling ripped off and hungry. It makes your establishment look miserly, and then everyone starts talking about the unfortunate rise of hipster establishments that don't care about their customers. Please fix this so I can come back and not leave hangry. read more
