The two young girls that worked there were super nice. I didn't get to catch their names one had orange curly hair. As soon as I walked in they kindly asked if I needed any help or had any questions. I was absolutely flabbergasted at the vast selection of flowers that were available here! They even wrapped my flowers in a beautiful paper and cut the stems for me. Great place! I went in the morning I was scheduled for a major surgery. I went to the counter and told the young woman who was working, Adelia, I wanted to come home to something happy and bright after my surgery. I was amazed at what Adelia created for my small budget. It was bold, beautiful and bright! Exactly what I wanted and I could tell how much care and love she put into it. The customer service was superb. Adelia was able to create my arrangement and help other customers with the same care and attention she gave to me. The selection looked good in the flower coolers and there are nice cards and nick knacks also. This is my new go to florist. read more

Store location instructed to call corporate and corporate refused to refund order. Corporate associate who answered call on was rude, lacked customer service and understanding. Not a great place to pick up flowers as a walk-in. What prompted my stop in was that I wanted something for my mothers birthday that would last longer than Grocery-store flowers. Thrifty Flowers had VERY little selection of flowers. The main part of the store was mostly accessories - flower pots, wind chimes, stuffed animals, etc. I give Thrifty 2 stars as, for a flower shop, they had an extremely limited selection of flowers ready to go; but I did end up choosing a selection of spring-time flower packages that were rather affordable, and they have lasted much longer than grocery-store bought ones typically do. Also, all I received when I first walked through the door was a "hello," and the sales person stood behind the cash register staring at me while I browsed. Felt very odd. "Flowers are for the living," my father's sister said many times throughout my life. It was a lesson well learned and a rule I've practiced since. Now, at 90 years old, Aunt Alice, who raised me from birth to about six years old while my mom had health issues, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She's still sharp as a tack, but this cancer thing got her down. It was time for some flowers. The Internet being a wondrous thing, I Googled flower shops close to her retirement condo in Livonia, Michigan, and found THRIFTY FLORIST on Five Mile Road. I called long-distance from Dallas and spoke to Duncan, who initially seemed a little brusque and rather business-like on a Wednesday morning as he filled out an order form. But as we spoke his tone softened (or he had finished the paperwork) and we discussed the actual flowers needed, the colors, the card, etc. Turns out Duncan is a charming young man with a great eye for flowers. We decided on a budget of $70 (with delivery & tax bringing it to about $85). An all pink arrangement seemed in order, in reference to her diagnosis, and delivery was planned for the morning of the next day, after fresh(er) flowers were delivered to his shop and he could cull enough pink ones. I got a call from my aunt immediately following the surprise delivery and she was THRILLED! She went on and on about the huge size of the arrangement and how very fresh and beautifully designed they were. These sincere compliments were from a woman who wouldn't know what a "discount florist" is and who thinks that "sparse" really means Zen-like and oriental-designed within the "less is more" art concept. In other words, in her world, EVERY glass is half-full. She's never been a whiner. So, considering how very pleased I am with Duncan's service and she is with the flowers, why didn't I give THRIFTY FLORIST a 5-Star rating? Because those beautiful flowers were "delivered" only to the tiny entrance foyer of her condo building, requiring her to come down to the unmanned lobby (on her walker) and struggle the big arrangement up to her apartment by herself. Then she had to remove it from the stablizing "delivery box" by herself. Did I mention she's NINETY?! I must report that the physical strain was debilitating on her and diminished her pure joy of receiving them. Will I call Duncan at THRIFTY FLORIST again for flowers for my Aunt Alice? Yes I will. The service prior to delivery and the flowers were OUTSTANDING. Now if we can only work out a true delivery to the door of her condo everything would be FIVE STARS! read more

They were also able to get me 9 dozen beautiful long stem roses with very short notice after my original plans fell through. competitively priced and beautiful work. Terrible service. Went in and picked out a specific planter and cross for a funeral, hand wrote a card. Went to funeral next day, no card, cheap, terrible looking planter nothing like what I picked out. Went back to the shop, they wouldn't do anything. After receiving quotes for my bridal bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets from other shops I convinced myself that I didn't really need them because they were so expensive and I had already gone over budget by 5 figures. At the last minute (About a week before) my fiancee suggested I run in here real quick just to check since we were at the Mcdonalds next door. I am so happy I did, I knew exactly what I wanted (Large Calla Lily bouquet with Black wrap) and also wanted an opinion on the bridesmaids to match, I told her my price range and BAM! I was ordering bouquets. I arrived the morning of the wedding as soon as they opened and they had them all ready to go with no issues. I highly recommend them to anyone! read more

Having been lured in by the Thrifty name, I have been in and out of this store several times hoping to find something I like at a reasonable price. I have never actually bought anything. The store is not thrifty. The flowers are just as expensive as regular florists; they appear to just put fewer flowers in the arrangements. The selection is also rather sparse. I usually end up buying loose flowers at other stores and arranging them myself to save money. read more

I got the flowers for my wedding party here. My now husband and I wanted tulips, which are not in their traditional wedding packages. I went in to meet with Victor, one of the floral designers. He was fantastic and very helpful. He gave many suggestions for what to add to my tulip bouquet to give it some extra flair, and suggested other flowers for the boutonnieres because tulips can get crushed from hugs. The flowers were also extremely affordable. For my bouquet, four bridesmaids bouquets, 11 boutonnieres, and three corsages it was less than $300. At other places just the brides bouquet alone can be up to that amount. My dad picked up the flowers the day of the wedding and they were beautiful. I went in to ask if they can make an arrangement for me for a party and I was told that the manager will get back with me the next day. The manager never called me, which I figured after two days passed and I went to another florist.
