Worst service imaginable when trying to order party trays. While all of the staff were pleasant, no one knows what is available, what size they sell,and what they can do. Someone is always checking in with someone else and no one seems to agree with anyone else as to how things work. Even worse, their website doesn't match what is actually available. Again, the manager I spoke to was very nice, but she couldn't explain why I was able to order items online in one size that they don't actually make it in that size. This is the manager that couldn't explain it. Getting frustrated, I just cancelled the order and decided to buy all the ingredients and make it all myself. Sadly I left myself too little time to place an order elsewhere. Now I've wrecked my weekend playing deli clerk to make things that Thriftys website says they sell... but doesn't. I bought lamb shoulder to make a stew with. It was very good fatty and bone in. Not much meat on it at all. Today I went to a butcher just down the street and got nicely cut up lamb, no fat, no bones. Thriftys has gone seriously downhill and is now selling poor quality produce and meats. Shop local businesses and you will be better off. read more

Terrible and overpriced! Bought a small striploin steak (organic, grassfed) for $16.35. It was terrible- only about 30-40% was edible because it was so tough. So disappointing. More expensive than other grocery stores, AND the quality was shockingly bad. read more

We are new to Victoria and the prices at Thrifty's is eqvilent to a quality food store but there is no quality. The produce is good and some sections such as the baking departmet with its that taste mass factory made and finished in the store, tasteless with chemical flavours.. The pastries are not food. eg. the Blueberry Lemon Strausel Tart is a gelatinous gunk scoped out of a plastic pail with blueberry colouring and flavouring and zero blueberries. We threw them out into the Green Food composting bin with my apologies to the compost. Will keep looking for a real food store that can nurture my body and excite my taste buds. read more

If Sprouts back in NorCal had a Canadian cousin, Thrifty food would be it. Not as big as a Safeway, but not as small as a Trader Joe's, but still has the small-ish jumbo-type Supermarket feel (if THAT made any sense at all). Cheaper prices than Whole Foods back home (but then again, isn't anything cheaper than Whole Foods?) and they have some cute selection of local goods. Bummers you need a card to get the discount on their sale items. The card had to be present with you (you can't punch in your phone number like you can at Safeway or most grocery stores back in the states) so everything we bought that wasn't on sale we couldn't get it 'cuz my friend forgot her card at home. Bum deal. Service was nice and the butcher at the meat counter was friendly.They had cute lil' reusable grocery bags for 25 cents that were made of better durability then most reusable bags from Marshalls or TJ Maxx (just give a quick tug on the edges and you'll see). read more

Ordered a Share Me Size Woodstone Thin Crust Pizza. According to their menu it should be approx. 11-12" round. This one made me feel ripped off. It was not round, more oval at 8" by 10". Looking at the picture it's 2/3 of full size. Looks closer to the Personal size. Went back 2 days later for a partial refund with picture on phone. The manager didn't see a problem with it and was also rude too. We order pizzas here once a week and never complain when it's burnt or the order is incorrect. We shop here 3 times a week and the staff are friendly for the most part. read more

Thifty foods used to be my go to store. Especially because I'm a minute walk away from this location. But now I just walk on by to a different store. Ever since Thrifty foods was bought out it has been slowly declining in quality and service. Prices are ridiculous as well. When ever I step into the Tuscany Thriftys I find that their shelves are usually never stalked. I've asked someone to look in the back to see if they had more bean sprouts and I ended up needing to ask 3 different people. One person said he would find someone to help me and he didn't. He just stood there for 5 minutes until I left to find someone else to help me. It is so unfortunate that this store has fallen so low so fast. Until the current owner (sobies?) fixes they're huge mistakes or gtfo I will not be shopping at any thriftys location. read more

Very disappointed I used to love their cakes they had two layers of custard in them and real buttercream cake not anymore as I found out today after a chocolate and a vanilla just one layeR of fake icing. Then I went over to deli to get flatbread pizzas pepperoni one was okay they had this New Mexican corn one and no ingredients listed on it. I asked the lady doing pizzas weather there was meat on in and she was to busy glance at the recipe for me. The staff is rude the quality has gone down very disappointing. Morgan creek your thrifty suck. I did enjoy the sandwich I made within deli meat that guy was nice and pleasant the pizza lady was rude and too busy to quickly check an ingredient list. And your bakery which I would drive half a hour there to get a decent cake was the biggest disappointment to my whole entire day. What a joke that place is wish I went anywhere but there. read more

Not good for a regular shopping trip because there is a very limited selection of staples, but ok if you are looking for a specific item that you know they have. But if you want "mainstream" groceries, go to Save-On. If you want a better selection of higher end goods, go to Whole Foods. read more

Although the staff was great as always the store manager was surprisingly rude and dismissive. I honestly do not know what to say, I have never been treated with such blatent disrespect. I was a Thrifty Foods shopper since the beginning; excellent service, good variety, competitive prices etc. Since the Sobey takeover my experience leaves a lot to be desired. The Thrifty Foods label is gone; replaced by the very medicore Compliments stuff. Prices have risen; they are no different than Safeway now. The variety of products, in particular vegetables and international stuff is getting smaller by the week. Fairway is smaller but now more competitive. Safeway's bakery is superior in almost every way. It's hard to believe that after 20+ years of loyalty I move it from #1 to a low #2 and verging on #3. read more
