Outdated Payment Terminals: At pickup, their ancient card reader wouldn't swipe my Chase Sapphire card, and they don't offer tap-to-pay. Because of their broken tech, I couldn't use the card that provides my primary car rental insurance and was forced to use an alternative payment method, losing my coverage. 2. The Pet Policy Bait-and-Switch: When I picked up the car, I was explicitly told pets were allowed and I would only be charged if there was excessive hair. The car was returned perfectly clean (maybe 10 stray hairs on the floormat). Yet, when I returned it on Friday, May 22nd, the attendant took my keys, disappeared for 10 minutes, and came back completely changing the rules. He claimed they have a strict "no pet policy" and slapped me with a $100 fee. When I called out the contradiction, the conversation got heated. He aggressively told me I should have gotten the car detailed, and then condescendingly claimed he was "doing me a favor" by charging $100 instead of $250. The staff here is argumentative, the communication is terrible, and they will nickel-and-dime you with surprise fees based on whatever mood the attendant is in. Take your business elsewhere.

When the Budget representative realized he screwed up because the reservation was guaranteed through Costco, he completely changed everything without telling me and gave me a Chrysler Pacifica Minivan for the $200 extra he was charging me for the extra insurance. I asked if I could rent a vehicle at the airport, and was told yes--but at a cost of $230, plus an additional $25 fee if I returned it to the Rainbow location. This was despite the fact that my original reservation was confirmed at $100. The airport location attempted to contact the Rainbow location multiple times but received no response. As a result of the misinformation and lack of coordination from the Rainbow location, I was left without a vehicle. Due to the clear incompetence and mishandling of my reservation, I have filed a formal complaint with Avis.
