The first thing I noticed when I entered this facility is the spaciousness and cleanliness. There's a lot of room to move and breathe. But when you've suffered an unexpected physical injury that left you with a lot of pain, and you've lost your mobility and the freedom you once knew you had, no amount of space or room to breathe will take away the feelings of irritability, annoyance, and that everything just seems "wrong" for me. This place somehow found a way to make it "right", one-day-at-a-time, starting with my first night when I was welcomed in my suite by the Hospitality Director, Marilyn, who gave me hope that I will get better here. I had no idea why I was here until I met the Physical and Occupational therapy team who, in a manner of speaking, built my body back to where I feel confident that I have the strength to walk again. Every day I woke up with a new ability to move - from being able to get out of bed on my own, manage my activities of daily living to taking that first difficult step since the accident. I worked with almost every PT/OT while I was there, and I can say that they are all very competent, caring, kind and compassionate. They all know what they're doing and they did a great job with me!!!! I very much appreciated that everyone in this facility honored and respected my desire for autonomy and independence. The admin staff were all available to help you in any way they can, from whatever you need while you're in the facility or whatever you need when you are no longer in the facility such as home care and equipment. The nursing staff are always there 24/7 when you need them and the CNA's are dedicated and tirelessly being of service. There are staff members that stood out for their exceptional service, warmth and kindness (you know who you are) but in fairness to everyone - you all made a difference to me while I was there, no exception. Special thanks to Dr. Yousuf for his kindness, compassion and care, and to Antoinette for her unwavering commitment to keep each guest engaged with her creative activities. On June 27,2026, I rang for a tech assistant at 3 am. She came to my room and I told her that I needed to get a brief change. She says that I just changed you. Mind you, I fell asleep at 9pm-3am. She works at 11 pm to 7am . I'm taking 2 antibiotics every 6hrs daily. 1 of the side effects are using the bathroom frequently. I get infections very easily and I can't stay soiled because of my pressure sores. Now,I can get up, transfer to the chair and go to the bathroom and change my self during the day. Some of these girls just don't want to be bothered with. My husband came to Thrive after 3 weeks in the hospital for an esophagectomy. The place is pretty and clean and very open. A few of the staff are really nice, but by far we were disappointed with his care and treatment while there. As other people have mentioned, call lights went ignored for over 30mins. We had to ask for sheets to be changed when they were obviously dirty, My husband was told he was driving the staff crazy one night by asking to go to the bathroom too frequently. He was given a urine catcher to use in the bed instead. The only reason my husband needed help to go to the bathroom was that he had a feeding tube which needed to be unplugged. He was also on laxatives and diuretics. Residents are only offered a shower 2x per week despite the doctor ordering that he shower daily. We had to bring our own towels because they would only give him 1 on the days he was assigned for showers. Other orders from our doctors were also routinely ignored in regard to wound care and drainage outputs. We had a nurse argue with us over how his meds should be administered. She told us that she'd read the chart and that's the way medicine worked. We asked her to look at the chart again because he took his meds orally despite otherwise being NPO. She went back and looked again. We were right. No apology was offered. The final straw was that he developed a bed sore. At that point we said he was going home. The day he was discharged his nurse was showing me how to check the drains and such. There was a problem with one of them. She supposedly fixed it but when we got home the drain literally fell out less than an hour later. I called Thrive and they said it wasn't their problem since he was discharged. read more

The promise of a clean environment, good food, and a private room were all true. The day nurses, Janice and Preti were excellent and the CNA Jasmine was helpful. The Dialysis team was outstanding. From there things went downhill fast. The 1st day they were totally out of face cloths. We had to ask for the bedsheets to be changed. The night shift needs more staff on duty and better training on how to care for a patient suffering from chronic pain. No nurse should argue with loud voices about pain meds. Every night I had to drive to the facility to deal with a nurse issue. Little to no empathy or concern was provided after my sister waited for an hour for her pain meds one night. Not because it wasn't the right time, but when she finally answered the request button, the night nurse Merci stated, I was busy with a new patient intake. Do you really think someone in intense pain cares? The physical therapy or lack of I should say, was a joke. During the 1 planning meeting that was held with the team, I pushed back and stated it sounds like you are trying to discharge her and how could that be with the minimal physical therapy received? I was assured that was not the case. Guess what? The next day we received a non medical insurance coverage notice! After a 9 day stay, the discharge paperwork stated she was observed 1 day where she walked 50 feet with little assistance. At no time did my sister practice going up and down stairs, which was a mandatory requirement for her to return home. When appealing the discharge because my sister was so weak, the insurance company stated the facility never requested additional days, which is the standard practice when a patient clearly needs more rehabilitation. The final straw was upon discharge on 6/6 I discovered the discharge nurse helped my sister get dressed and sent her home with nothing on the bottom but blue jeans! No diaper! Think long and hard before sending a family member there. read more

The nightly flashing of Thrive of Fox Valley sign and ambulance lights are triggering haunting memories of how they abused my mom and left her for dead. In the middle of a night like this, they forcefully removed my mom from her bed to their rickety, bumpy, painful vehicle. They abandoned her in Rush Copley's cold deserted garage and left her for dead. My mom spent the night-alone and sick-on a stretcher in the hospital's freezing cold garage in only her gown and socks. Nobody cared about the daughter who would be looking for my brutally displaced mom. Someone at Rush Copley hospital finally noticed my mom in the garage, and got an ambulance for her at sunrise to bring her back to Thrive. When I visited her, my mom told me of the abusive night she endured. When I tried to get justice for my mom's suffering, I was denied, dismissed, gaslighted and ghosted by everyone involved. Nobody believed us and nobody cared. For the last year of her life, My late mom suffered post traumatic stress from the abuse she survived that night, then she died alone from lack of care. SEVERE NEGLECT!!! Takes hours for them to come assist once requested. Patients are not checked on more than 1-2 times per day.

Thrive of fox valley should be shut down. They do not provide any care or therapy for their patients. My father was there for 5 days for physical therapy, and I had to call an ambulance for him to get transported to Rush Copley and admitted to ICU. Thrive was not able to provide any medical (medicine administration) records to the hospital, which is why he ultimately DIED! Thrive NEVER administered ANY of his medications. During the 5 day stay, he received therapy one time, when it was scheduled daily. Administration refused to talk face to face with the family once he was taken to the hospital, and legal action was discussed until medical records were provided. Nursing staff can never be found and if someone is around, they always have to seek out additional staff and never reappear. The bed-side call button takes about 45 minutes to be answered and thr same song-and-dance occurs. After the 45 minutes, someone will come to ask what is going on, leaves to find someone, and never returns. You never see the same person more than once in a day. When my father arrived at the facility, which was approved 2-days earlier, no one knew he was arriving. The next day when breakfast was being distributed, there was no record of him and was given the next patients food, causing a domino effect in all the rooms getting the wrong food. When it was determined, 4 rooms down, the now unwrapped trays, were then picked up and delivered to the correct rooms. All those meals should have been thrown out as they had been touched by other patients. Do not let your loved ones be admitted to Thrive of fox valley. Even with family oversight 16 hours a day, starting on admission day, it doesn't get anyone's attention. I have never had such a horrible experience with a medical facility. read more

Dangerously short staffed, the few real nurses include some agency temps. You absolutely have to have someone with your patient for every meal and shift change. They don't communicate between shifts like in the old days with paper charts, hours after you were there explaining who the patient is, what they need, what they can and can't do, it will all be forgotten and you have to start over. The physicians, social workers, any professional visiting will not communicate with the nurses, techs, LPNs, CNAs, or orderlies (well never actually saw any orderlies) who will also not communicate with each other. My father was a cardiologist, a year ago he had a couple of strokes and then recently was in the hospital for gallstones. He ended up here for rehab. When he was working, he would spend hours visiting patients not just in the hospital, but at rehab facilities and nursing homes. He did this instead of coming home to his family which explains in part why he didn't have any adult children at his side here. I tried to tell the nurses here to please call him "Dr. de Silva," because he needs just that modicum of respect but they refused and instead just butchered his Sri Lankan first name or gave him another first name, or sometimes just called him "honey." The whole time he was here I asked, then begged them to give him a shave and trim his nails because he asked and it would make him feel better. This is the sort of thing he would make sure happened for his patients back in his day, I saw that when I went with him to work. The circle of life isn't really a circle in American healthcare. Physicians and physical therapists who visit places like this don't care enough to make sure patients are being taken care of humanely after they visit. I tried to get the stuff I needed to do it myself, but couldn't find anyone who could help me. When I would ask who his nurse was, I would get sent around in circles. When they dropped off food they would leave it out of his reach, no one noticed he would only eat when I visited during meal time. He needed a little assistance, and he was worried about choking (he had a little trouble swallowing after the hospital procedure). They also tried giving him anti depressants and anti anxiety drugs that he absolutely didn't need, but he spotted that and refused to take them. His room mate was drugged into a zombie state, there was no medical need for these drugs that also would have added to problems swallowing. One time he did start choking. I used to be a paramedic, I still teach CPR, so I knew what to do...I cleared his airway relatively easily but nobody working here noticed. I tried to find a nurse to tell them that my father had a full airway obstruction (resolved) but I couldn't find anyone. He would have just died. One day as I was in my car trying to stop crying before driving home, an ambulance rolled in lights and sirens. I double checked, it wasn't my father, but I continue to wonder if some patient choked to death. I am surprised someone noticed, probably not a worker. read more

Thrive of Fox Valley - Rehabilitation Center Near Me - Aurora, Illinois

My father stayed at Thrive of Fox Valley from February 27, 2026- March 23,2026 after cervical spine surgery. The care is terrible. Shortly after my dad's arrival he contracted COVID from his roommate who was coughing his head off; the roommate eventually had to be hospitalized. Dad spent 10 days isolated in his room with 10 minutes of PT sporadically. Six hours would elapse and not one staff person checked on him when he was sick, I had to ask they check his vitals. There were inadequate PPE supplies for visitors over the weekend. The call button went unanswered for over 30 minutes repeatedly. My dad then got a second roommate who was a high fall risk. The roommate repeatedly tried to get out of bed; thus, he kept my father up all night because dad had to call the staff. I spoke with administration and relayed that it was not my dad's responsibility to watch his roommate and that he was there to recover not be awake all night. A few days after the Covid recovery he became sick again with vomiting and diarrhea. He ended up in the hospital for a week with Noro virus which is contagious. Two days later I went to pick up his belongings and the room including his feces on the floor has not been cleaned. Daily the meal he ordered was not the meal delivered. Dad required feeding assistance and had I not been there all day he would not have been fed or he would have had to wait an hour for assistance. Voice mail messages to supervisors/administrator regarding concerns went unreturned. This facility is understaffed and poorly managed. Patients do not Thrive there. read more

This weekend is the two year anniversary of the night that my late mom was brutalized and endangered by the staff at Thrive of Fox Valley Rehabilitation. My mom arrived at Thrive Fox Valley on Friday night December 9th 2022. It was a very cold night, and my mom was a heart patient in fragile condition. The staff took my mom to a cold room, did not turn on the heat, and abandoned her there. My mom was freezing in her hospital gown with no blanket. She waited for help and no one came. When she finally managed to get the attention of a worker, the woman was cruel and argued with her over her need for blankets and socks. My mom got scared and upset, as she was shivering and dying from the cold. She said she wanted to call her daughter or her doctor or the police. The staff seized her room phone. Then the staff removed my mom from her room and took her back to Rush Copley Hospital in an unknown vehicle. There is no documentation of Thrive's illegal eviction transport. As they forcibly removed my mom from her room in the middle of the night, nobody cared about the daughter that would be looking for the now brutalized missing patient the next morning. The vehicle abandoned my mom in Rush Copley's garage. It was about midnight now. My mom was left alone in the garage, sick and cold in a stretcher for a couple hours. Nobody knew she was there. Finally, Rush Copley staff were surprised to discover my mom alone in the "emergency room" garage. My mom was told that she was not a Rush Copley patient now, and could only be sent back to Thrive, the place that did this to her. An ambulance was not available until sunrise, so my mom had to spend the night in Rush Copley's garage. On Saturday morning, December 10th, Ridge Ambulance retrieved my mom from this "emergency room" and drove her back to Thrive. I was ready to go meet my mom at Thrive on her arrival Friday night. I spoke with her on her room phone. She said she was tired and did not want me to visit that night, then she hung up. After our conversation, all this abuse and endangerment happened to her while I thought she was sleeping and taken care of. My Mom arrived back to Thrive the next morning just in time for my visit. I found her disheveled and traumatized, as she told me what happened to her overnight. For the remaining year of her life, my late mom suffered flashbacks and post traumatic stress from the abuse and endangerment. While Thrive staff was hurting her that night, she kept me away to spare me. But now the memory of what she told me will stay with me. read more

This place is appalling. My brother was admitted there over a week ago. I've been there several times when he buzzes for a nurse and 30 minutes will pass and no one will come to his room and he is not supposed to stand up alone today He waited over 30 minutes and no one came to help him to the restroom. He called me and I had to call the nurses station to get someone to go help him.the place is nice and clean but that's the only good thing it has going. read more

RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THRIVE OF FOX VALLEY:( The facility is beautiful but the care is HORRIBLE!!! Not good rating is insufficient; I rate this facility with a zero!! It has taken me 6 months after the death of my husband to write a review about this place. My husband passed away from Sepsis. I filed a complaint with the Illinois Department of Public Health; Office of Health Care Regulation; Long-Term Care Ombudsman Office Senior Services, and Medicare. The facility was citied with some patient care violations. My husband was under the unfortunate care of this facility from April 15th to May 7, 2024. My husband was only at this facility for rehabilitation recovering from surgery. He had a temporary ileostomy bag which many of the nurse were unskilled in how to properly change the ileostomy bag and provide properly seal around the bag; resulting in leaks and severe skin burns from leaking feces and the nurses not using the cream to protect his skin. Often times my husband would have to use several Kleenex of towels to catch feces that was leaking from the bag waiting for a nurse to respond to his call button. He waited hours for nurses to respond to his call to change or empty the ileostomy bag or me or my daughter would have to track down a nurse to come and address my husband needs. Rarely was information updated on the patient room board so it was difficult knowing who was his nurse or CNA for the day. They worked the heck out of the CNA's who often tried to assist as best their skills allowed which often went beyond changing bed linens, removing rubbish etc. The lack of care became so serious that I or my daughter would share round the clock shifts with my husband to ensure some proper care for him. There was an instance where I walked in my husband room and notice ants everywhere and his room was unclean. I alerted the nurse who said she would send in a CNA. I asked where was the housekeeping staff and the nurse stated that everyone had left for the night. I ask for a broom and no one could locate a broom. Finally the CNA came to the room and used wipes to to pick up the ants. Every time I requested to see the facility administrator I was told the she was not in the facility or had left for the day. I met with the so call Director of Nursing and the so call Director of Hospitality who wrote down my complaints, apologized but nothing changed. I began documenting and taking pictures of daily of the lack of care to my husband. My husband big toe began to darken and he was unable to keep food on his stomach; vomiting for several days. During his ordeal he developed sepsis and a portion of his big toes was amputated. Overall, the staff at this facility was negligent with paying attention to my husband's overall care from head to toe; lack of patient centered care from the nurses and other staff; lack of adequate amount of ileostomy bags, lack of proper medical care from the physicians. My family and I put my 89 year old mother in there facility to get stronger. There customer service is terrible. I called 8 times one night and NOBODY answers. I left a message to check on my mother because I couldn't be there and no return calls. They told my mom when she has to use the bathroom to let them know just hit the button well NOBODY came again and luckily I was there to get her out of bed and put on the portable potty. They never. I did it ALL. This is unacceptable. I should have been put on thrive of fox valley payroll. They are terrible don't send your love ones there. Very bad communication skills. read more

My brother suffered a massive stroke and had a heart attack within the space of two weeks. After spending 8 weeks at Northwestern Memorial, he was transferred to Thrive to begin rehabilitation. To be clear, his is a difficult case. His memory and cognition are now impaired, and he is almost completely paralyzed on his left side. Last night my brother was taken to the ER for chest pain thanks to one of the few caring nurses at the facility recognizing he was in distress. He was admitted overnight for observation. I received a call today saying he was going to be transferred back to Thrive. Later, I got a call from Thrive saying they needed his bed so please come pick up his things. I called the hospital and learned that my brother was still there. Thrive had refused to take him back because he was refusing to participate in therapy. At least one family member visited every single day my brother was in the facility. Two of the siblings were in contact with the transition coordinator and care-givers. NOT ONCE did anyone mention him refusing to participate in therapy. As I sat with my brother in the emergency room last night he begged me not to send him back. He was genuinely afraid. I thought it was a function of the damage done by the stroke, but it is clear to me now he had reason to be afraid. The care was terrible and wanting to for my 80 year old grandmother to move when she repeatedly said she was not feeling well enough to do so. It seems like the people don't care about the job and simply are here for a paycheck. The staff was rude to me (the guest) and they were impatient. The male physical therapist is a grumpy ass, simply rude and not able to tolerate being told no and found out his name is Steve so cation if you are stuck here, Steve sucks. I would recommend taking your love one somewhere better even if it's farther. This is not a place to put someone you love and would recommend either firing half the staff or shutting the building down. The only consolation were the few nurses who were nice. I had my mother here. It was pretty and clean but that is all. They never hardly came to see my mom. She layed in feces for 2 hours and then one time I came in she was in the wheelchair with no feet extensions almost falling on floor! They had no set schedule for rehab. If she was sleeping they would leave and not come back. There was no communication between nurses and family members..They checked my mom out and never let us know. They called and ask where we were. I told them no one had ever said a time or for sure it was that day. Yes it was on the board, but it was there on day one. We/She would press the light button and no one would come. Maybe they need a buzzer when help is needed. Zada was the only one who cared when she was there. I would not recommend this place at all! read more

Care quality, type of care was not good, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. My husband was not cared for after only being there for two days. They have a call button at the patient's bed side but no intercom in the room, to answer the call, the nurse nor the cna responded to him 30 mins to an hr. Later, he stoll on himself in bed by the time they responded and the cna half cleaned him up. I believe the 2nd and 3rd shifts staffing are lazy or just don't care about the patient due to there is no supervision on those shifts. I'm filling a formal complaint. read more

My mother was a patient at Thrive Rehabilitation at Fox Valley following a hospitalization to regain her strength. She left the place worse then she entered. The physical and occupational therapists were good however the rest of the staff was not. I went there daily and the nurses never encouraged my mom to get out of bed and get dressed. Her bathroom toilet was soiled for three days without being cleaned. The social services department promised they would get her lined up with a wheelchair for her when she was released which they did not follow up on. I was there when the conversations happened and my mom was looking forward to it because the wheelchair was very comfortable and easy to use. I called today to see about when it was getting delivered and they told me that since she was no longer a patient there they couldn't order one. The level of disappointment in the level of care she received is indescribable. I feel they just kept her there for the length of stay to get the money from medicare read more

My wife was at thrive after an extended hospitalization. The facility is very nice and clean with areas for seating outside of the rooms for both dining and visiting. Her nurses Janice and Grayson got to know her quickly and did a great job of taking care of her. Steve, Josh, Makala and all the other therapist really helped with her PT and OT to help her get moving again. Our discharge coordinator Amy was very helpful and did a wonderful job guiding us thru the process keeping us informed and helping transition to the next step. The whole staff a Fox valley was great. At times it took a long time for someone to come when call light was pushed. I was there 4-6 hours a day and the staff was always busy and working. I pretty sure this is a corporate issue and not a Thieve at fox valley issue, all the folks at fox valley where great. read more

Izzy V., the cna at Thrive of Fox Valley in Aurora, IL. she is a horrible person. She neglected me by halfway doing everything when it came to assisting me. She was also extremely rude to me and had a bad attitude when it came to assisting me. Lelinda and Rhea are good nurses(Thanks ladies for everything) . Bri J., Liz, Noelle, and Daola are good cna's( Thanks ladies for everything).The overnight cna's on July 17, 2023, were not so great. Kayla M. woke me up in the middle of the night around 4 am. When I DID NOT press the call light, asking me if I needed anything. But when I woke up later that morning, neither Bonnie nor Kayla M. could be found. Not to mention, I asked Bonnie for ice, and she took my cup out of my room. Then, about 1-2 minutes later, Bonnie brought my empty cup back into my room and said, " I'll just bring you a couple of cups of ice back to you." She never came back( I'm guessing because it was close to the end of her shift) . Now, I don't know what sense that makes. To leave my room with my cup for ice, but bring my cup back without any ice. Then to say that she "was going to just bring, a couple of cups of ice back." Also, they both Bonnie and Kayla M. were complaining about how much work they did during their shift, and that they are really ready to go home. It's really inappropriate to state that "you will sleep good after this" while assisting me (the patient ).That is not professional to say in front of a patient. Especially when you are in my room assisting me. On a better note Mrs. Pat was extremely helpful in getting everything. Such as the equipment I needed for my stay in the room ( bed, wheelchair & etc) .Mrs. CJ was great at her job for responding so quickly to my concerns and needs.The therapy staff are awesome in what they do (PT and OT). Except for the one OT name Mansoor, he really didn't pay attention to me with the excise activities that he gave me to do. So how can he make a report on my progress? And their sistering location "Ignite medical resort hanover park" agrees with the wrongful doing of patients. By not allowing people to stay at their location. Due to a review, that was not to their liking. Instead of fixing the problems/ situations. read more

This place is a joke, I have been here and I am still here. I have been here over 3weeks and I have had to beg just so I can shower. And in that time 1cna took me into the bathroom and washed me up. I asked the staff what the shower schedule was and the nurse supervisor said it was Wednesday and Saturday. Now Wednesday came and went and I wasn't offered a shower, I had to use wet wipes that are pretty much useless. Now it's Saturday and I have been telling the staff that I want a shower. First I told the nurse because she was going to change my dressing on my left foot. Now my Ortho doctor said I can shower as long as I'm not standing and the facility has a shower chair so I can sit down to shower. As I said I asked the nurse this was around 2 in the afternoon when she was going to change my dressing she said just a minute and disappeared never came back. Then a CNA came when I pressed the call light that took more than 30 minutes. I told him the same thing and he said just a minute and disappeared, he said he was going to find the nurse but never came back. So I pressed the call light yet again and waited after awhile another CNA came and I explained it to him. He went away but eventually came back. He told me that he told the nurse and that they're going to give me a shower that the nurse will take care of my foot undress it so I could take a shower then after the shower put a new dressing on. All he said was I'd have to wait 15 minutes and then someone to be in there to help me shower. Then at 7:00 after 5 hours of waiting still no one and I pressed the call light again and the CNA came in the room and I told him to get the wheelchair that I'm going to undress my leg go take the wheelchair and go in the shower shower up come out and redo the dressing on my leg myself saying is no one in this place is going to do it because I'm tired of asking to take a shower when all they have to do is do it they're lazy they run around and they come up with excuses not to do their job. You impress a call light and it takes anywhere for a half hour to an hour and a half for them to come answer it then it takes another half hour to an hour before you get a result if there's a result I'm tired of this place I'm in pain they don't listen all they do is come up with excuses of one way or another I'm tired of it this place is a hole in the ground the food sucks the people in here there are good few eggs in here especially Deborah in at night she's a CNA she's fantastic there was a girl that's a CNA Cassandra or Cassandra she was the one that gave me my first wash up she's great so there are a couple good apples in here but there's a lot of bad ones they suck you do not want to come in here there are no private rooms you share rooms it lies in the bio of this place you do not want to come here stay away from this place if you're smart the only thing that looks nice is the outside and the entrance to this place they may have clean beds once in awhile but that's about it read more

If I could give less than one star I would. They left my Dad without a diaper sitting in stool, and also with vomit all over him got hours. Very bad attitudes , also, going back later to look for my Dad's medicines and glasses, most of the nurses from the nurses stations were unhelpful, one extremely rude. One did look in the fridge for me to find the medicine. The other one became hostile with me and said you keep asking the same questions. Finally someone was honest with me and said the medicines left would be sent to the pharmacy and they would choose whether to destroy them are not. If only someone said that from th3 beginning I wouldn't have asked every nurse at every station. Also, when my Dad was staying here, it was clear that he needed to go back to the hospital my Mom had to argue with them and finally someone called the ambulance when they tested his blood pressure to see how bad it was.
