My BF recommended this moving company. I had anxiety getting everything out and situated. Spoke to the boss, Herb. He was friendly, easy going and thorough in obtaining my information and explaining next steps. Received a confirmation call the day before my move, also when they were on the way. More like thumbs down moving :/ they seemed nice at first.. Was quoted one price and then the owner, Herb, was "tired" so he brought a third man to move just me from Berkley to a high rise in Detroit. They broke, chipped, misplaced and dirtied several pieces. Tried blaming me. Threatened to sue for harassment when I simply asked about a bin they lost that had all of my makeup, skincare products and some of my deceased grandmother's jewelry.. I'm so upset. Keep it all just give me my grandmas things! He blamed me for packing improperly, told me I only care about makeup because i must need it, called me a spoiled brat, blamed it on me being a woman.. is he serious? He chipped a vanity, and a mirrored console. He set my mattress on a dirty floor on the loading docks not expecting me to see. Broke my couch that I paid to get repaired.. I will be posting some of the texts and damage tomorrow with good lighting. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Their trucks smell like cigarettes and garbage. Herb and his crew showed up on time and worked tirelessly on our large move from the Mount Clemens Public Library for renovations. The quoted price was fair and accurate and they moved our items quickly and carefully. They were pleasant and friendly and hardly took a break over the two days they were moving for us. Worst movers anywhere. herb the owner change the amount of man in the price at the last minute. They lost a bin that held all of my personal effects and all of my good jewelry after several conversations with Herb the owner he said he was going to block me and call the police. Why are these people insured and bonded when they don't want to cover anything that they've lost. They spent most of the time smoking cigarettes at my expense! I'm paying an hourly rate. Many broken items, including an antique desk they dropped on floor. Scratched & gouged walls. The 2 workers came and told me it would be exactly 3 hours, gave me a quote and it was exactly what they said it would be...they did everything I had asked of them and were careful with my furniture. Alot of these bad reviews are false information over exaggerating and lies. Unfortunately people only get one side of the story from the customer but were not allowed to give reason or explain why things go bad on moves. For example blaming us for lost items that aren't packed properly or damage that was already on furniture that customers weren't aware of but thought we did it . There is reasons behind things . About 4 yrs ago my wife and moved my sister out of her apartment to across 2 counties. Most of her items were moved into storage near my home. My sister then stayed at my home as she had terminal cancer. To say we were under stress in the family was an understatement. Thumbs Up Moving did a great job and did exactly as I asked in putting certain items towards the front of the storage unit so I could access. Thumbs Up Moving was on time, handled numerous items with care and stayed at the agreed price. I have given friends their name and they have used them. I used this company in the past, everything was fine. Until this last time, the crew was arguing to the point they were about to fist fight. I made mention about one of the men ( nothing bad) just wanted to know where the one person had went, the leader told me to go and check on where he went/see what the person was up to. SMH. Then upon our move in later that evening we were setting up our electronics. My son noticed that my 55 inch tv had a 5 inch scratched on it with multiple fingerprints. Called owner he refused to do anything wanted me to send pictures and video showing the damage. Also no apology or ownership about the way his crew conducted there selves. read more

No stars whatsoever except for walking off the job without notification. Two men arrived on time, argued with me right away about how to load the van ( this is NOT my first move), refused to follow instructions, did not move the heavy items that I really needed moved instead picking up small boxes such as a vase in its own box, and then left without notice. My mother and I were moving in and wanted to hire movers to move to big stuff(couch,beds, etc.) and it was time to move our futon. We were moving into a two story condo and they claimed the ceilings were too low to move it up the stairs. After they left and took $300 of my mother's hard earned money with them, we took it up the stairs easily. A middle aged woman and a TEENAGER did work that two men who move others for a living could have easily done. For this money our whole house could have been moved, but only half of our furniture was moved because of two lazy quacks. I have moved multiple times in my life and I haven't come across movers this horrible at their jobs. I will NEVER and I mean NEVER recommend Thumbs Up Moving to any family, friends, or evenstrangers I come across on the street. This company is a joke and I hope whoever is reading this review won't use them. read more

I have used Thumbs Up Moving Twice in the same month to move me to a storage unit and then to my new home three weeks later. The first move did not go so well but I hadn't realized it until I started unpacking. Most of my China had been broken even though everything Was packed in a plastic storage containers and wrapped with bubble wrap. My heirloom pictures were cracked to a million pieces. Furniture was scratched and chipped. In the middle of the first move the guys had an attitude because they didn't want to finish the job until the next day. I refused stating it had to be completed because the keys needed to be turned in. They finished but conveniently didn't have room in their truck to take several boxes even after 2 trips. The next move from the storage unit went better but the damage Was done. They were able to fit everything in a truck and a half this time. The pictures were broke, furniture damaged, the owner Herb seemed very understanding and apologetic coming back to try and repair things but like I said the damage Was done. My pictures were handed down from my deceased mother and Can't be replaced were gone. Herb super glued the furniture but the chips are apparent. The shelves from the book shelf are missing. My chair screws are gone. My bed railing and several other items never made it to my house even though they were taken out of the old house. I had A yard statue that was cracked during the move. The cracked pieces were on the ground next to the statue. Herb moved this item and never said a word about it. Joe from the first move had an attitude and yelled at me when I told him there were still items to take and that the agreement was to move in one day. Even with their hour lunch it took six and one half hours as most of the furniture got tossed. The majority of the move were boxes. When Herb finished the second move he said he felt bad but still charged me for the 6 hours the move took. Him Feeling bad will not get me stuff back and he Didn't feel bad enough to reimburses me for the broken items. As I was unpacking there were more items broke. China set that is no longer available is no longer a set. Cups vases niknacs all gone. Herb seen they were all wrapped in bubble wrap. His only explanation was they must have broken from the movement or vibration of the truck. Whether it was the truck vibration or the disgruntled employee attitude this should never have happened in the first place and after it did feeling bad wasn't enough. They should have discounted my bill or offered replacement cost. Definitely in the wrong business. You get what you pay for. I Thought I was paying less for The move which cost me almost $1300 but it cost me much more to replace the damage and items that never made it to my home not to mention the sentimental items that can never be replace. I struggled with writing this review as I general just accept things and move on but this was all wrong and Very much regretful . read more

Scheduled a moving date with Herb last week that included disposal of a bed set and he told me that it wouldn't be an issue at all. Movers arrived on time but the driver appeared to have an attitude from the start. I directed both movers to the bedroom and the driver told me that they don't dispose of furniture. I explained to him Herb already agreed to take the furniture to Salvation Army. Driver told me that Herb already told him that they will not take the bed set because they don't have room on the truck. Of course I called Herb and he told me they weren't prepared for the move and offered to come back another day for the bed set but for an additional expense. During mid conversation my wife told me that the movers just packed up and drove off. I couldn't believe it and Herb hung up on me after I told him that his movers left without any notice. #VERY UNPROFESSIONAL #DONT USE THUMBS UP MOVING!!!!! read more

They were timely and had a good price that is all I will positive. They damaged four pieces of furniture. The top surface of the kitchen table was worn down to bare wood. One of the guys used the bathroom and we did not discover until the evening that he clogged up the toilet. We could not clear it with a plunger or the dish soup method and it cost us $95 plumber charge. They left items on their truck and delivered them a few days later.
