Despite being severely ill and normally completely bedridden while going through a drug trial, I went to this guy every month for about three years. You never know what you'll get with him, sometimes he's paying attention and a nice guy and sometimes he's a completely different person. He pushed and pushed for me to do all day Ketamine treatments that didn't do anything. When the time came to move from Reno to a major university hospital in another state for treatment, he cancelled my very last appointment and when my father went in to pick up my prescriptions he realized that my prescription for the Fentanyl Patch (which I had been on for years) wasn't there. My father was told that this was the doctor's decision and when my father asked if he could speak to the doctor, he was rudely told NO and that THIS WAS THE DOCTORS DECISION! Then my mother called and asked "why aren't you titrating him down slower?" But she was told the same thing, NO! So, not only was I being transported by car to another state (which caused me incredible pain and suffering) I was also going through withdrawals at the same time...thanks to this cruel, vile man. This Dr. Thunder is a total bozo! I wasted 2 hours of my life that I can never get back... He obviously doesn't understand someone that has a perky personality. He was a cold fish! Dull doesn't understand sparkling :) My time is money so I get extremely annoyed when it's wasted on poor doctors. I guess Reno is Not Stanford! The best doc's here are orthopedic surgeons and I do adore my shrink and GP. The pain docs are just awful it's very unfortunate that there is not a test to determine levels of pain. One can only hope that one day such a test will come to pass... I would definitely NOT recommend this place, save your time and money. Zero compassion and zero clue about patient care. I made an appointment 3 months ago and was told they take my insurance. My appointment was scheduled for tomorrow. They called me this morning and said the insurance won't cover because Dr. Thunder isn't a pain management doctor. He is a family practice doctor. Beware if your insurance will only cover a pain management doctor. I wish they would have told me up front that he wasn't. Dr Thunder doesn't give a damn about my pain. This pain management clinic is a joke. My neurologist wanted a nerve study done. He said I could get it done at any pain Dr. I was told at Thunder Pain that they don't have the testing equipment it's to much trouble, really. My latest MRI shows I have something called arachnoiditis. What symptoms can arachnoiditis cause? The predominant symptom of arachnoiditis is chronic and persistent pain in the lower back, lower limbs or, in severe cases, throughout the entire body. Other symptoms may include: Tingling, numbness, or weakness in the legs Bizarre sensations such as insects crawling on the skin or water trickling down the leg Severe shooting pain (which some liken to an electric shock sensation) Muscle cramps, spasms, and uncontrollable twitching Bladder, bowel, and/or sexual dysfunction If the disease progresses, symptoms may become more severe or even permanent. This disorder can be very debilitating, as the pain is constant and intractable. Most people with arachnoiditis are unable to work and have significant disability. I have it all. I got absolute NO HELP from Thunder Pain Clinic. read more

Outstanding from start to finish. I initially went in with a lower back problem, the previous doctor I seen wanted to immediately treat me with drugs and was quick to get to the next patient. I found Dr. Thunder and I could not be happier. I scheduled a visit which went very smooth, the receptionist was really friendly and the staff are all great. When I met Dr. Thunder he looked at my records, listened intently to my explanation, completed a thorough exam, and explained to me on the wall diagram my problem. He set me up with PT for several weeks and a follow up appointment for some trigger point injections. My PT was through Align PT which did a great job, I just received the injection and I am feeling great. In a few weeks I should be running again, thank you. I've been seeing Dr. Thunder for CRPS since 2018. He's been the only doctor that's been able to keep me walking without having to use a cane or crutches. He understands my condition well and stays abreast of the best treatments. He's also receptive to patient suggestions. I'm on an off-label medication that's helped me tremendously because he was willing to be educated on it and try it out. Dr. Thunder also figured out that my migraines are caused by muscle issues, and his therapist Trina has been able to keep me migraine free. Lastly, the nurses and administrative staff are amazing. They're caring, listen to your concerns, and try to help in any way they can. Hands down, Thunder Pain Management is the BEST pain clinic in Reno. I say this as someone who suffers from the most painful, least treatment chronic pain condition. read more

Dr. Thunder has the mindset of today's Technology with the attitude of yesterday's approach to treating patients. I can't recommend Dr. Kenneth Thunder highly and his fantastic staff enough! I've fought for nine years for a hip replacement. As I've posted before it was disaster and I've paid a horrible price from Tahoe Forest Hospital and Dr. Jefferey Dodd. I found Dr. Thunder(yes his real last name) online was very curious because of good reviews and man I am happy I followed my instinct. He's tried a lot to help me very careful and conservative. Most of all HE LISTENS to his patients and asks us to remind him because he's so busy he's that good. He finds ways to treat his patients and continues new ways and some work and some don't however he keeps trying. He understands busy lives and people travel and works with schedules. His staff Jaid is an extremely smart and knows P.T. and she speaks in way I understand. Andrea is great out front and Perla is very good with trigger point injections. They hurt like a mother. Michelle Dr. Thunder's P.A. is very good. Joanna up front is a sweetheart. What's really sad this man could to help me Stanford couldn't and were lazy and plain didn't care. I will never go back there. This Dr. is compassionate, caring, ethical and above works with you financially as well. As long as willing to try I willing to take it. I have suffered from chronic pain for over 20 years as a result of a pretty serious car accident. In that time span, I have seen many doctors, many specialists, been to a ridiculous amount of appointments for physical therapy, and tried all kinds of alternative treatments. My goal was to never get on opioids as I know the dangers of addiction, and I'm also of the mindset that while pain killers are great for managing immediate pain, they do nothing to treat the underlying cause of the pain. For over 20 years I've been treated like my pain isn't real because nothing serious shows up on x-rays (I'm not an MRI candidate). When I came to see Dr. Thunder, I was at my wit's end in trying to deal with the pain and avoid drugs to cover it up. And to my surprise, unlike most doc's that I've seen over the years, Dr. Thunder not only showed compassion, he believed me! He took an entire 20 year history of my past and developed a plan of care that was tailored specifically to me. A year later I was mostly pain free. It was amazing. I was able to reduce the number of appointments as I improved over time, and I was on my way to being completely pain free. Unfortunately I had to move out of Nevada, and it's not practical for me to see Dr. Thunder and his team anymore. And after trying about six different doctor's in my new city this last year, not one compares to the care I was receiving at Thunder Pain Management. I'm right back to being told that it's all in my head because it's not on an x-ray, or being told I need to see a chiropractor three times a week (who can afford that?). If you live in/near Reno, NV and suffer from chronic pain, you won't be disappointed with the level of care you will receive. Cautiously optimistic.I have only been in once so far extremely impressed. Dr. Kenneth Thunder is one of the most compassionate,common sense, understanding.One of the most impressive things he doesn't wear a white coat. Most doctors I have seen have either misdiagnosed, sluffed me off and basically thought I was in hysterics.I have a hip injury it's dragged on now for years.I have seen some of the best and I mean best doctors in N.V and C.A. Stanford being one,they have either been confused with no answers and when I further asked these doctors questions they got angry and tried to place the blame back on me. My right hip is now clicking and causing me to fall three to four times a week! An A.P.R.N. in Carson City N.V. hear the click,shocked why no doctor had addressed this. Now twice given out so badly my left leg and hip that I've had no issue is now in pain and caused a fall down a staircase at my mother's house 19 stairs head first. My right hip failed and I fell, I went unconscious my family thought I had died. For almost two minutes my eyes were open with no response.When I came to I had to push myself off my neck.My dad was at the top of the stairs he actually pulled me backwards had I gone forward my neck would have snapped.I blame these other doctors negligence,ignorance and lack of listening to the patient pure and simple.When they had no answers ignored it the hip was worsened by this and caused more falls. I had even lost a substantial amount of weight suggested by these doctors,did nothing because the damage is structural proven by M.R.I. Due to the stair fall I now need back surgery.It's all been a terrible domino effect.It's caused me to spend a week in bed at times and loss of my business. Dr. Thunder listened to all this and looked somewhat astonished, but actually has suggestions and a plan of action depending on what type of surgery I will receive.He's straight forward and extremely intelligent and as I stated before COMMON SENSE he has in droves. It's becoming a rarity especially among some doctors they have simply stopped listening and addressing a patients legitimate physical pain it's not mental in the least.If a patient doesn't fit into typically thought condition they should heavily consider seeing Dr. Thunder.Thank you. read more
