It was too early to attempt a check-in there, and we had remembered how much we enjoyed doing the same here a couple years ago. It worked out perfectly. We arrived from Hope in the still 'early' morning, and enjoyed some self-made sandwiches and beverages for a sort of breakfast/brunch, and absorbed all the natural sights and sounds. The latter included many birds (several ravens, hawks, and various ground birds), and the Lake itself -- for a couple of hours. The whole, main picnic area in the Park was ours for the entire stay. A morning, very pleasant, and much-enjoyed stop. Would I like it there when crowded with families - no - but for us, on this early, weekday morning, it was a lovely, natural treat to a portion of our time away from home last week.

This water is unlike anything I have ever seen before - so green and clear and so unique to North Cascades. We just enjoyed the lake from the overlook, but we saw many more people also going down to the lake. We had a really upsetting experience at Camperland RV Resort this past weekend. My partner booked…read morethree sites under her name--a cabin, a trailer, and a tent site--for our family and two others. After hours of travel with six kids, we arrived only to find out she had lost her wallet somewhere en route. She had a photo of her ID, all reservation details, and two adults staying with us who had valid ID and credit card or a visa debit ready to cover the deposit. We also stayed several times that we would pay whatever processing fee to switch the booking to another name in our group. We were told that is was "abnormal" that the adults in our group had different last names and addresses by the owner. Despite the fact that we had three different campsites booked. The front desk staff actually started processing the check-in with one of the adults in our group, but after speaking with the owner, we were told the booking couldn't be transferred, no deposit could be taken from anyone else, and that we had to leave. No flexibility, no understanding--just a flat refusal. And despite not staying a single night or receiving any service, they kept $500 of our money. On Mother's Day weekend. After lots of back and forth the owner offered a credit minus $150 for a future stay. Given the experience we just had we obviously declined the offer as we have no desire to bring our family there again. What's worse is that we've since seen several other reviews with the same story: this owner refusing accommodations or refunds over minor issues and pocketing hundreds under the guise of "policy." These aren't just rules--they're predatory policies created by the owner, and it's clear this is how the owner profits: by charging families full price for nothing regularly. If you've experienced the same, I strongly urge you to report it to the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection BC like we did. Businesses like this rely on customers giving up. Don't let them get away with it. This is supposed to be a family-friendly campground--but there is nothing family-oriented about how they treat people. We'll never return, and we hope others think twice before booking. There are SO many other campgrounds in the area that actually value and care about their customers and wouldn't take advantage of unexpected circumstances. We called another campground at 7:00pm they were shocked and couldn't believe the treatment we received. They offered our family a free trailer site, waived our damage deposit, gave us a discount, and offered us late check out for free. That is how a business owner that cares about their community acts. Not like this greedy company.

Ice is $5 and wood is $15 for a pallet. The campsite was clean. We had a great time. We ate hotdog and smores over the campfire. The campground came with picnic table. Also there is free internet at the campground. We had a really relaxing time. This is the first time B and I camped together without anyone else. We got some alone time that gave us a chance to learn about each other. Staff were super friendly. The campground is gated. The gate closes at 10pm.

The campground is nicely laid out providing lots of all sorts. Yes your neighbors are close, but we still found it very personable in our own space as everyone keeps to themselves unless you go looking for connections :) The campground is tidy, the staff is profoundly helpful and being pet friendly is a huge bonus! The facilities are clean and stocked daily, garbage bins are everywhere and there are porta potties spread throughout as well. Quite time at 10PM is a huge relief for us early birds, everyone respected it! I fully support this campground and will happily be back!

We are a third generation Camp Firwood and The Firs Day Camp family. It's wonderful to have such a fun-filled environment in a beautiful setting on Lake Whatcom. One time the door on our travel trailer somehow wasn't properly secured when we left it... so during a breezy rainstorm while we were not there, the door physically opened. Scott, Cedars maintenance manager, was first to notice the problem and shut the door, but it could not be locked without the key, so Yvette, operations manager, was so kind to call me to make me aware of the situation, out of concern that the door might open on its own again and our camper might be subjected to water damage. Yvette went out of her way to let me know what happened in case I wanted to lock the door, and I thought this really speaks to the high level of customer care at Cedars. With all of her other responsibilities as manager of operations at Cedars, this kind of concern by Yvette and her staff for those at the property was really wonderful, and points to why Cedars is such a beautiful, well-maintained and popular vacation spot. There were mosquitoes around, due to the high levels of the Fraser, but managed to keep them away with smoke, insect repellent spray and citronella candles. The campground has nice spacious sites, water and electricity hook ups and everyone kept it quiet and respectful. There are train tracks across the river, and trains are passing throughout the day, but is far enough to not be too loud and just give a nice picturesque touch. We already booked to go back in a couple of weeks.
