This is the O.G. boba tea cafe in the area. I used to come here all the time and over the years, new cafes opened up and naturally we had to try. With that being said my family and I haven't been here in a long time. We finally had the opportunity to come back here since we were dining in the same plaza. I ordered a fruit tea and sugar cane drink to share with the kids. Lovely taste. Not overly sweet (which we love) and comparable prices to other cafes. My family also loved that they carry the bean dessert (Sweet Beans) so they ordered that and enjoyed it. We did see that they added food options to their menu since we last visited, which obviously has been a long time since the last visit they only had banh mi! Our favorite Vietnamese Coffee shop was closed today for renovations. So we tried Thuy Cafe & overall it was a good experience. The cafe is super authentic and cozy inside. The workers were very friendly & helpful. We ordered coffees & they were reasonably priced. They could have used a bit more sweetened condensed milk, which we've learned is the signature of Vietnamese coffee. But the friendliness of the workers made up for the lack of full flavor. Thuy Cafe has been my favorite restaurant for lunch pickup for many years. The food (Vietnamese) is always flavorful and prices are extremely reasonable - a ban mi & regular boba usually cost me $11-12. I really like the ban mi sandwiches and have at least three that are my favorite, served on a crusty French baguette. I also like to treat myself to a boba drink. Taro & coconut are my favorites - they have at least 50 flavors. The staff are always really friendly and your order is ready quickly for me to pick up. I dropped by Thuy Cafe after work around 530pm. It was peaceful and quiet inside. Two customers entered in the time I was there, and the two ladies working were amiable. I tried ordering a Raspberry Tea and a Pineapple Green Tea, but they were out of stock-- disappointing, but not the end of the world. I haven't been here more than once, so I can't say if this is a regular occurrence or not. I ended up with a Hazelnut Milk Tea with Tapioca Boba and a Lychee Green Tea with Lychee Jelly. I have a proclivity for enjoying sweet flavors, but wow the Hazelnut was VERY sweet, even for me. It actually reminded me of a melted ice cream or something. Just be wary of this flavor if that is not your taste. The Tapioca, however, was fresh with the perfect consistency and taste in my opinion. The Lychee Tea was very refreshing and tasty. It was more of a normal sweetness. The jelly add-ins were good too. I preferred this drink to the other. I saw some really delicious looking options on the menu in terms of noodles/rolls, so I will have to be back to try food options and different drinks. read more

We live in Tallahassee but visit St Pete often. And every time we do we stop at the Thuy Cafe to pick up lunch to eat on our ride back home. We are in a rut, but it's a good rut: we always get the Vietnamese Specialty Banh Mi. It's a traditional Banh mi made with pork sausage (cha lua), pâté, a combo of pickled daikon and carrot, cilantro, cucumber and jalapeño. And it's served on an absolutely perfect French baguette. It makes for a wonderful sandwich to eat while driving. If you want to eat it later, ask them to put the veggies in the side; they'll put them in a plastic bag so the bread won't get soggy and you can put them on the sandwich when you are ready to eat. I also always get a Vietnamese iced coffee (caphe sua da). I know they have an extensive list of boba drinks, but the humble Vietnamese coffee (which does not include tapioca pearls), is the perfect accompaniment to the Banh Mi. This time we also tried an appetizer that looked amazing: soft dough rounds are topped with combo of pork and dried shrimp, sprinkled with egg yolk powder, with a small container of nuoc cham, the quintessential Vietnamese condiment that's sweet and salty. It was a little tough trying to eat them in the car (grabbed a bite at the frequent red lights on 34th street), but so well worth it. Can't wait to go back again! read more

This place has the best Sugarcane juice hands down. I spent 2 days driving around Tampa and Orlando to find the best sugarcane juice. I believe they add kumquats in it but to me, gives it a nice citrus twist to the delicious sugarcane. I didn't really try anything else but what I observed while waiting looked fantastic. I have been coming here since around 2001 ish and this place used to be SUPER good. Like I would rave about it to everyone. They legit at the time only had bahn mi's and a select few boba options and throughout the years they expanded their boba list and their bahn mi's were the best in town! It was perfectly made, perfect amount of ingredients, jalapeños were really spicy and delicious. But I am not quite sure when it changed - it's been quite a few years - idk if they got new owners or management or something but the sandwiches are still good but they're different sized than what they used to be and the jalapeños are rarely ever spicy and the boba quality has gone down. They used to be my favorite and original boba spot back when you could only get boba here or at seasons. Also they have added a few other things to their menus besides bahn mi and boba such as fried rice and vermicelli but I've not tried anything else besides the bahn mi's. I'm ashamed that I have enjoyed more than a hundred of their grilled shrimp banh mi and have never shared just how amazingly delicious it truly is. It is tiny not too many seats. But we were able to get a seat at the weekend after the Love of Tango. I try their Bun Rieu Cua - Crab Cake Noodle Soup. This noodle soup have white crab cake, fried crab cake. Very nice soup base. The accompanying veggie is very well decorated with arrangement. This is my first time to have this soup. I have empty the whole bowl. We also have other items such as the lemongrass grilled beef sandwich, wonton noodle soup, shrimp chip. By the way, they have 20 different sandwich to try. I am really surprised that more people have still not reviewed Thuy Café, considering how busy they are whenever I come by for a visit. They have recently expanded in the same shopping center to a space that is double the size. There are always music videos or live conerts playing on the widescreen TV and they have really cool tables and wrap around sofas. Their bubble tea is excellent, but now they have expanded their food options. I joke around and call it a Banh Mi Subway, because it gets so crowded in there and their new counters to make Banh Mi are like the sandwich counters at Subway. Their Sugar Cane juice is also excellent. It is right over by Halong Bay, so it is great to get some bubble tea for dessert and a Banh Mi for dinner later. I highly recommend their grilled pork Banh Mi, delicious! For St. Petersburg, this is as good as it gets!!! read more

So I really give this place a 3 3/4 stars, so I rounded up to 4. I love coming to Thuy's Cafe when I can. The only thing I usually order because it's so darn good is the Banh Canh Tom Cua. From the choice of noodles to broth flavor to price - it's perfect! However, I went yesterday to find they changed the bigger hollowed noodles to smaller typical udon noodles. Not a big deal but I was a huge fan of the old style of noodles they used. I went toThuy cafe for boba tea so I cannot speak to the quality of the food available. It looks delicious but unfortunately I did not get a chance to try it for myself this time around. They had a bunch of pre-made snacks that were available by the register for a quick grab and go snack. There were also other meals that you could order, like bun bo hue. What I can say about this place is that the staff was super friendly and fast. We did not wait more than five minutes for our drinks. Their boba is a little softer than I am used to but delicious nonetheless. The dining area is full of small tables so it is not the best place for large groups to hang out. There is a little lounge area in the corner with a couch that could accommodate a larger group, but still not more than 7 or so people. read more

This is a cute Little Vietnamese café located in a modest plaza right off of US 19. They sell various Vietnamese dishes and milk teas with Boba of different flavors. The facilities is small with a few seating inside and outside, but incredibly cute! You have to order at the counter first and then seat yourself. They'll deliver the food/drink to your table once it's ready. I like their rice vermicelli with lemongrass beef. Their Boba milk tea consistency is a little bit different from others that I've tried before. There's is more of a slushy consistency instead of just a milky one. If you happen to be on that side of town, I would recommend taking a stop if your hungry for that type of cuisine for a quick little lunch.
