With our first game at 10:00 a.m., coffee was a must, so we found a little place called Coal River Coffee Company. The coffee was outstanding, and the welcoming atmosphere immediately reminded us of our hometown of London, Ohio. As we were leaving, we noticed Shuckers Seafood & Italian Fare just down the street and decided we'd give it a try after our games. We went with another baseball family, and between all of us, just about every part of the menu was represented. Seafood, Italian dishes, appetizers, desserts--you name it. Every single meal was incredible. In fact, it was so good that we came back the very next evening! I'm not sure who was happier when we walked in for round two--our waitress, Reagan, who greeted us like old friends, or our group knowing we were about to have another amazing meal. Her service was exceptional, and the entire staff made us feel right at home. From the incredible food to the friendly service and hometown atmosphere, Shuckers exceeded every expectation. If your travels ever take you through the Charleston or St. Albans area, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't regret it. My husband's jambalaya was the same way. The flavors were good, but the temperature made the dishes unenjoyable. We ended up asking for to‑go containers and decided they'd probably be better reheated for lunch the next day. Overall, the flavor of the food was on point, and the ambience is clearly something the owners have put thought into. I would happily come back again and again for the appetizers alone.
