    Spicy beef flatbread
    Ricky E.

I'm visiting from Los Angeles and came in to try this place. I ordered the spicy beef flatbread. I thought it was going to be like a pizza but turns out its like a wrap. The flavor profile was amazing. I loved the meal. Some nuances I think could be better is, I was at the counter waiting to be tended to and no one came or acknowledged me for a while. It was awkward. They were there but not saying anything. And they served the wrap on a sheet of paper on top of the plastic tray thats used to carry food. I think a plate would be a nice touch. Otherwise delicious food.

    Desserts, including baklava.

My husband and I have occasional appointments with physicians associated with the University of Virginia -- and enjoy trying out new (to us!) restaurants while in Charlottesville. This visit was to Thyme & Company, a Lebanese restaurant. SERVICE (rating: 5/5). Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the gentleman at the counter, who directed our attention to the menu board on the wall, and offered his assistance if we weren't familiar with Lebanese food. We already knew most of the items, but there were a few new things (freekeh; fattoush salad) for us to try. We put in our order, grabbed some (free) water from a container on the counter, and sat at one of the large picnic-style tables. The food arrived quickly, and the server was friendly. FOOD, which we shared (4/5, on average). My husband ordered a Lamb Gyro ($12.99) from the Manousheh (Flatbread) menu. This featured lamb meat, lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, onions, and tzatziki sauce on a homemade flatbread. We'd rate this 3/5. The bread was very tasty, but the fillings were rather skimpy at the $13 price point, and it didn't come with any sides. I ordered a Chicken Sharwarma Bowl ($10.99) from the Mezzanine Bowl menu. This was excellent, both in terms of taste and value (5/5). There was a lot of food -- the chicken sharwarma, your choice of rice or freekeh (a grain made from green durum wheat), your choice of fattoush salad or tabbouleh salad (or half and half of both salads), hummus, Lebanese pickles, pickled turnips, and a homemade garlic sauce. It was also served with a wedge of homemade bread (about 1/4 of the size of a full flatbread). Overall, we especially enjoyed the hummus, the homemade bread, and the freekeh. AMBIANCE. (3/5). The restaurant is relatively small, with a few oversized "picnic" tables with bench seating, and some stools along the window. My husband first sat at the EDGE of one of the benches -- to make it easier for others to share our table -- but the bench was unstable at the edge and he almost fell. The restaurant was clean, and a restroom was available. We would eat here again.

DDD (Daddy Daughter Date) with great food -- specialize in flatbreads, salads, and bowls. Friendly owner assured us most of the menu was gluten free (no flatbread, no Taboulli). Plenty of indoor/outdoor spots to dine with complimentary wifi and restrooms if needed. Our food took a while but worth the wait. Lamb bowl was better than chicken bowl. Especially enjoyed the basmati rice which has hints of cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. So good! Falafel was pretty good, though finished behind Mr Schwarma's in Norfolk, VA!

I came here for lunch and got the lamb plate which came with a variety of delicious, healthy and filling items like hummus, brown rice, salad, pita cucumber sauce and lamb. I spoiled myself and got an assorted baklava for dessert. I loved how there were different shapes and filing. The customer service was amazing. The staff as very helpful, and kind. The seating inside is limited, with two large beaches, but there is also beaches for our door seating. Parking is very limited, however, there is a $3 parking structure right next door. Overall, the plate was a hearty, healthy portion that was very well priced, Customer Service amazing, and park at the parking structure.

Wasn't sure what I was craving for dinner so I looked up "healthy food" and Thyme & Co popped up. Went in and got the Chicken Shawarma bowl.... Pros: - all the veggies in the bowl tasted fresh. - lots of good flavors in each bite. Cons: - for the price I'd hope for more food. I'm still hungry as I type this. - chicken was pretty dry. Overall: I think this place was good. Would I go back? I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but if I was nearby and wanted Lebanese food then I'd go and try their gyro bowl next.

Lamb Gyro Bowl: Not sure why more UVA students talk about this place in the corner because it definitely deserves some hype (might be because of its hidden-ish location). When my friend and I came in we were kinda browsing the menu and one of the workers asked us if it was our first time. He then kindly explained the menu to us and later gave us complementary lentil soups. I really enjoyed all the flavors in the lamb gyro bowl (you have the options of choosing fattoush or tabbouleh salad or half-n-half and the bowl is served with basmati rice. There was a good ratio of veggies to rice to meat. I wish they cut the meat than just giving it in slices, but the meat was good quality. Definitely will become a go-to lunch/causal place on the corner!

They sure do make some nice flatbreads! This is a great little local place that will satisfy most of your Middle Eastern food cravings for a decent price. I ordered the labneh yogurt dip side, the lahmeh bi ajjine (lamb flatbread), Nutella manousheh (flatbread), and the baklava. They seem to get the baklava from a different place (Yara's Gourmet Mediterranean or something like that). The quality was okay. Price wise, it was good for the portion. But, I definitely would have liked more syrup and flavor to this baklava. 2.5/5 The labneh yogurt was my least favorite thing out of everything I ordered. It tasted a bit strange, unlike any other yogurt I have ever had. Almost like a plastic flavor to it. There was far too much oil in this as well. Portion was fine, but nothing exceptional. It was served with some complimentary pita bread. 2/5 The Nutella flatbread was unique and I'm definitely glad I tried it. The flavor was good, but there wasn't nearly enough Nutella stuffed inside. It was just a small spreading, and for the most expensive dessert they offer, I did expect more. The flatbread was fresh, though. 2.5/5 The lahmeh bi ajjine, though, was actuskly quite good. They had a decent amount of lamb stuffed inside this flatbread, which was quite tasty. However, I keep wanting to compare this to Samovar in Pittsburgh, which made less bready and more flavorful lamb ajjine for a cheaper price. So a solid 3.5/5. All in all, it's definitely nice to have this place in Charlottesville. It seems pretty new, so many they just have to work out the operations a little. Some items were a bit underwhelming, but nothing was bad (except maybe the labneh, that was just strange).

Very delicious Lebanese food. Great for a quick bite between classes or visiting town! Friendly staff and they offer indoor and outdoor seating.

Was on the Corner and decided to stop by Thyme & Co for a quick lunch and ordered the Kafta Bowl. Overall the bowl was good but not great. The bowl was a good portion and I liked the variety of toppings that came with it. Definitely a light and healthy meal. I got half and half and enjoyed the freshness of the two salads. I will say that I would have liked the pita bread better if it was warmed up as it was a bit dry to eat. My kafta balls were good but one of the beef balls was still pink inside so I unfortunately wasn't able to eat that piece.

Positive review, but I was as little disappointed to see the chicken portion of the mezah classic. I bought the felafel classic and the mezah classic, and to make sure the main proteins (felafel and chicken) were proper, I purchased the boost option for both bowls. So should have been double chicken and felafel. I wouldn't have felt justified complaining about the felafel bowl or the portion (was true double and what was expected), but the chicken portions were pretty sad in my fair opinion. The additional chicken was placed in a separate container. At first glance, just looking at said container, I thought it was light, considering I paid about $33 for two bowls (same price each). When I sat down to eat the mezah classic (with the double meat) at the end of the day, I noticed that the amount of meat in the bowl, was about a 4th of the amount of chicken that was in the separate container that I thought was light. I could see my self purchasing the felafel bowl again at some point, and maybe explore some of their other options. We need places like this as alternatives to less healthy options, but I would like to be able to rely a little more on reasonable expectations of portions (excluding felafel bowl - no complaints, and haven't explored other dishes). I think this review is fair considering the said price I paid, but maybe I should be a little lighter with my constructive criticism considering the variety of micronutrients as a convenience purchase without breaking the bank, as that's something worth appreciating. Best of luck.

I tend to go here with family when we visit Charlottesville and have other things to do in town…read more(catch a UVA game, movie, etc.). Even when they were very busy, the wait for a seat is rather short. It's mainly four-top seats but they can push together tables as needed. There's music always playing and not a lot of padding to soften noise so I'd call the location "average" loud. Downtown Charlottesville doesn't really do free parking. You can park at the next corner in open parking to the left or paid parking to the right. But we're talking $2 or so, not a bank-breaking experience and with lots of shopping across the street it's worth staking out a spot and then walking the area. What I like: The food is tasty. The appetizers are solid. There's a large enough menu that you can always try something new. And the portions are ample enough to share. What I'm not so fond of: The waitstaff spend a lot of time at the front scrolling on their phones. They aren't too keen on refilling your drinks either. I say this as someone who has eaten here about a dozen times. Also, I don't normally mind cameras, but there are enough blinking lights on cameras to make it feel more like a jewelry store than a restaurant. That said, if you are not in a hurry, want some good food in solid portions, and plan to do some shopping or window shopping downtown, this has been my go-to place for years.

It's largely cold items and salads and was ready almost immediately. There were one or two things in there I didn't like, but with a sampler this size you've got options. Their spiced mashed potatoes and white bean salad were notably flavorful. A pomegranate tea tasted a bit too much like juice and not enough like tea for me. I'd just get a plain tea if I had to choose again. Having said that, I needed some variety in my diet and I was happy to have received it here.

One of the gentlemen heard me telling my friends how they make the Saj bread, within minutes he brought out a large fresh Saj for them to try. It was hot and amazing. All the meat on the platter had great flavor. The rice was delicious, flavorful, and extremely plentiful. The hummus was good. The tabbouli was very fresh with a nice citrus flavor. The platter came with falafel, Saj, sauces, small cups of lentil soup, plates of pickled veggies (2 types of cabbage, jalapeños), along with olives, onion, cucumbers, and lettuce. The fresh baklava was absolutely amazing. To cut the sweetness they gave us some delicious black tea to finish the meal. We all loved Babylon and will be going back whenever we're in the area.
