Being in town for the next couple of days, it's time to check out the local fair. Stop number 2 was coming here for a take out order this afternoon. I was not asked for a vaccination card nor were the servers wearing masks. Again, what pandemic? I ordered the following: their Turkey Sandwich - Brie, bacon jam, lettuce, tomato, sage aioli, cranberry chutney, on toasted white bread. Their Tuna Poke Bowl and a Chicken Farmhouse salad. While I can't say much about the salad or Tuna Poke (although I did not see much Tuna), I'll mention my order of the Turkey Sandwich. I wish this was served warm but with the Brie either on the side or added while it was cold. Not only was the turkey dry but it was severed cold. This sandwich has the potential to be amazing and it was far from it. The accompanying tots were good. Their is a parking lot for your connivence and plenty of spaces to boot! It's disappointing we normally enjoyed our dining experience. This time was not happy. I made reservations for 6 people for 11:30 dining. They put us in the very dark corner and there were other table open. We can hear kids running around above us very loud. We couldn't read our menu. WHISKEY lovers paradise. They had an extensive list of bourbon that you could chose and order as flights. Since this was a work dinner I didn't get any (maybe next time). The restaurant had a great vibe and you could definitely tell it was newer. Our waitress had somebody shadowing her because she was new to the role. She was a natural and did a great job for us. The cheese curds were amazing. They had a crunchy outer layer and the cheese melts in your mouth. The chicken sandwich was okay, it lacked flavor for me. Partook in the upstairs area. Many animal heads and a couple of sharks viewing us from the walls. Nonetheless the meatloaf sandwich was very good and the chicken salad was commented to be excellent. Tots were also found to be enjoyable. The deep fried steak and cheese appetizer was also good. Staff was friendly but pretty overworked with the entire upstairs with only one server. Was driving thru the riverfront area of Peoria , we wanted to get the full effect. We passed all the busy places on that strip and headed off the slightly less-beaten path. We discovered people enjoying brunch at the tables outside and saw the name Thyme and were intrigued. We opted for street side seating for two. Drink menu is diverse, and looking at menu photos it appears to change regularly. We opted for the Pinkies Up, a rum-based drink and Thyme on Thyme, with bourbon, spiked pear, pineapple and lemon. Fantastic for both! For an appetizer we ordered the fried cauliflower. Slam Dunk! The coating was lightly fried and tasted delicious. Dipping sauce was an avocado ranch. For dinner we shared the meatloaf entree and again a delight for the taste. Meatloaf was good to support the main item, with blanched green beans with a small dose of pork belly. Overall, we are very satisfied with this choice and would visit again in our next adventures here. Service was fast and friendly, with no sense of being rushed. Our server, Nova, was very knowledgeable as we asked questions about different choices, and she didn't sound like she was just saying everything was good to move things along. We stopped on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch while dropping our son off at Bradley. We had a lot of running around to do so we didn't want to spend an unnecessarily long time there. We were sat and given two rounds of drinks by our server and we put in an appetizer order with our main entree order. It took about 20 minutes to get our appetizer. We had been there 55 minutes before I asked another waitress about our order. She said she go get our waitress. She (not our waitress) came back and apologized and said our order would be out momentarily. We finally got our meal and I had to ask a different waitress for drinks. And then had to ask another different waitress for our check. We only saw our original waitress as we were ready to walk out. We were there for an hour and 11 minutes, inhaled our meals in 11 minutes, and saw 4 different waitstaff before we saw our server again. First time, last time. Fool me once, never again. read more

I love the fun decor of this restaurant, old suitcases, painted tires, plenty of outdoor seating. Service was good! There were a ton of good unique options on their menu. We all said for the price it wasn't great. We decided to try it again recently. We decided to give it another shot as it has been around for years now and the sister restaurants and companies are all good. we arrive with a reservation and were quickly seated in a busy evening. 30 minutes later without any attention we were ready to leave. The waitress who wasn't covering our table took over for the MIA waiter. She was very nice. the food was generally over cooked. The calamari had excessive batter, The philly cheesesteak egg rolls were ok but paired with nacho cheese. i'd expect a white cheese. The shrimp salad was generous. the chicken sandwich was slightly burnt and dry. One night trip to Peoria so we ended up here. The food was good, the service was great, and I'd go back. That being said, they only get 4 stars because nothing stood out as "best ever" but it was all good. We tried multiple drinks including both pear cocktails and a blackberry one. All were pretty good but the pear martini had something odd that didn't work for me. Our app was the bacon jam which I enjoyed but I wanted more Brie! Meals were prime rib which was as expected and good, but the Star was the side of creamed corn. So good! HORRIBLE. Started off rough with a rude hostess. After being seated in the bar area we ordered the Tater Tot app. It took 30 minutes before the bartender came and and informed us that they had to remake the gravy. The app finally came out and it was mediocre at best. Our food finally arrived after about 50 minutes and my chicken and waffles was not edible. The breading was burnt to a crisp and the chicken was so dry and tough. The manager came out and informed us he would take it off the bill. He offered to make me another meal but the first one was so bad, I declined. The kids menu stated the meals were $8.50 and I was charged $10 each. The manager fixed the bill but still paid $71 for the worst meal I've had in a long time. I do not recommend this restaurant. The only good thing is the building is pretty cool. read more

We were in town to see the famous Henry Phillips do some stand-up and had dinner before the show. Our entire table ordered fish, be it Fish and Chips, or the Fish Po' Boy sandwich. The food was really good and the beer was fine, with one minor exception! We ordered a standard local lager and it was good. I ordered a second from a different brewery and it came out looking more like an off-color milkshake!!! Really strange and the waitress said that's "how it came out". I'm embarrassed to say how many beers I've probably consumed in my life, but something was really off with this one!! The waitress was happy to take it off the tab, but I really looked forward to checking out the local beers we can't get in Chicago. You also couldn't look up what beers were available via a menu online. An online beer menu would have been nice to check out prior to our visit. Keep your eyes on your drink! I have been to Thyme multiple times, but my recent experience was not a good one and is probably my last. The service was generally slow but the bar service was terrible and slow. I ordered a pour of a rare and expensive bourbon that I was excited to try for the first time. When the drink came I immediately recognized the smell as standard Buffalo Trace (before you think "snob," while at our table wondering if our drinks were ever coming, I noticed the bartender pour a BT but I did not pay attention and didn't see the glass - I of course assumed it was a different drink). I told the waitress that I thought I received the wrong pour. She came back and told me that the bartender said there was not enough of what I ordered for a full pour so he "topped it off" with Buffalo Trace. While I value the honesty once he was caught, it is inexcusable that a place like this would try pull something like this. Ridiculous!! read more
