The good about this place is the awesome variety of coral to select from. The bad: they're more pricey with the fish I've seen there compared to other nearby stores. Still I asked if he would match the price and he said yeah so that's good. Also they sell RO/DI water which is good for me. The owner, John, is also very willing to give me advice about everything when I asked like I could just go there and hang out instead of rush or make me feel like I'm being annoying. Which I felt like that at south shore tropicals when I spoke on the phone with them. Another thing I think is good is that this place is strictly dedicated towards saltwater tanks whereas others are more divided in their interests and this guy is very knowledgeable. So that's that. P.s. my friend told me not to buy fish there because he saw that some of them had ick. This friend I'm speaking of is more advanced in the hobby of reef tank keeping than I am so I took his advice. But he did say it was okay to buy hardy fish there like clown fish. read more

Went with my 13 year old daughter (she also has her own reef tank), after a few minutes she decided to go back to the car. The place has some nice coral and fish for sale. But even though we were the only ones there the employee(?) seemed more interested in whatever he was looking at to even ask if we needed anything. He gave a quick one or two word answers... Not that I expect conversation, but I expect to at least be asked if I needed help, etc. Was off putting. I saw a few things I would have bought but decided to leave. When I got back to the car my daughter said she left because she felt as if she wasn't welcome. My 13 year old sensed that so I guess I wasn't wrong? read more

Great selection of fish. Corals are decent. There is plenty to choose from. Unfortunately price tags on everything is much higher than other local reef stores. A ruby red pulsing xenia frag is $89. The easiest coral in the hobby to grow lol. I'm not gonna lie, I might go back and get it. My fiance likes it. Other than pricing, they are a great spot. Disclaimer, I only buy fish from one reef store. Corals are open game lol. read more

Awesome local gem and great staff! Stopped by yesterday after having the gumption to try setting up my first saltwater tank. They have a lot of beautiful fish, corals, etc and prices are reasonable. The gent who helped us was also very reasonable and was informative explaining the basics. We left less than an hour later with sea sand, live rocks, filtration system, aeration, Heater and aquatic life water. Can't wait to be back to pick up some corals and fish 2 weeks from now! read more

Best fish store on Long Island! They have the best selection of healthy fish and coral I have seen. I buy all of my fish and coral here and have never had any issues. John is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He's so good that I fired the company who was servicing my reef tank for years and hired John. Although I loved my tank before, it now looks better than ever! My son and I look forward to visiting the store every weekend to check out the new selections. Went here the other day to start the stocking of my saltwater tank. All the fish looked extremely healthy. There was a large selection of fish and corals. Mike was very helpful with giving info on the fish and what fish would get along together. Very happy and I will return to buy some more good stuff soon. Update Just picked up some more fish. I honestly don't even know where to start with this..... Me and my dear friend Maya wanted to go to an aquarium. We live 45 minutes away from the Long Island Aquarium and we were looking for a closer aquarium to go to. I looked up aquariums on maps on the iPhone and I found the Tropical Island Aquarium which was 20 minutes away from my house (way better)........ I had to wait till Tuesday to call to just make sure it was an legit aquarium / big enough for me and Mayer's needs. Apparently this isn't an aquarium. Best Fish store around! Staff is very knowledgeable especially John and all fish and corals are vibrant and healthy.

This place is located inside a strip mall. The store itself was very small. The fish selection was lacking. Could probably count how many saltwater fish the store had during the last last visit. read more

I called twice, a few hours prior and 30 minutes prior, to confirm they had specific food for my fish I cannot find elsewhere, they confirm. I travel over 30 min to get to the store to be told they are SOLD OUT. Waste my F-ing time. Very disrespectful. Not to be trusted. read more

Great place. They have a huge variety of coral frags at attractive prices. The owners are super helpful and they are always getting new things in stock. Their livestock look healthy and you don't see dead fish like in other stores in the area. Definitely one of my favorite aquarium stores. read more

I wanted to write a review of this place since there isn't much about it on here. I came here to inquire about a fish tank, seems logical that they would sell fish tanks. I met the owner outside while he was smoking a cigarette. I inquired about a fish tank with an employee inside, seeing if they would be willing to order a fish tank for me. The owner wasn't very helpful at all and slightly rude. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, there are far better aquarium supply stores in Long Island. read more

The owner Mike ,seemed nice enough but sold us something that was unsafe not UL approved and passed it off as a Reef Bright light. Then would not deal with us. Not a good guy. Do yourself a favor find another quality shop to spend your hard earned money. read more

The owner, Mike, of this establishment is dishonest. I was sold two tank raised clowns and WAS NOT told that there was a 50/50 chance that they would host my anemones and of course they did not. He only offered 20 bucks for the original clowns. He said there was a chance of disease! So he profited on the two sales but lost a customer that already spent hundreds in his store. Doesn't make sense! read more
