I was hoping to find something special on the menu. The Peking duck caught my eye at around $70, but then I discovered that almost everything else was extra--lettuce wraps, stir-fried duck meat, fried rice, and soup. By the time you add the extras, the bill is easily another $50 or more, bringing the total to well over $120. We decided to pass, and judging from the dishes we did order, that was probably the right decision. The hot and sour soup had plenty of heat and tang but lacked depth of flavor and was under-seasoned for my taste. Fortunately, we only ordered a small bowl. The deep-fried tofu was bland and forgettable. The stir-fried shrimp was acceptable but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the sweet and sour pork. I specifically asked the server to make sure the pork was crispy, but it arrived soft and lumpy rather than light and crunchy. Even the complimentary red bean dessert soup was watery and lacked flavor. Our bill came to about $104 for two people. For the quality of the food, I didn't feel it offered good value. Sadly, after several disappointing visits, I don't think we'll be returning.

Plenty of seating for different sized groups, and the walls are lined with either wine, cuts of meat or tanks filled with various sea creatures. For dinner, we always have to order the lobster and steak combo. The steak has consistently been a flavourful medium rare (to our preference) and there is so much meat from these lobsters! I can't pick which way I like the lobster cooked more - steamed or wok fried.. both are delicious. For additional dishes, you can't go wrong with the short beef ribs and the pea shoots with king oyster mushrooms are a great option if you're trying to add veggies to a meat-heavy meal. The service staff are always on top of it. They are always coming around to make sure we have enough water at the table and food came out so quickly. I can't wait to come back again soon!

Rather than taking responsibility or working professionally toward a solution, his attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely inappropriate. Fortunately, the lady working with him was kind, professional, and genuinely tried to explain the situation and find a way to accommodate us. She deserves recognition for her efforts. Our group was in town for an eight-day conference with more than 3,000 attendees. Because of this experience, this restaurant has unfortunately been added to the "not recommended" list for this annual event. When restaurants host business travelers, the way guests are treated matters just as much as the quality of the food. Unprofessional treatment of customers and business partners can damage relationships and cost businesses significant opportunities. To anyone considering this restaurant: the food is excellent, but if you're planning an important business dinner or any special occasion, be aware that the wrong interaction at the front desk could ruin your evening. I liked seeing places to sit down and eat at He Bei. Nice! A woman behind the counter came over. I said that I had a Fantuan order. She talked to me in Mandarin. I don't understand it, but we were fine communicating with each other in our languages. She pointed out the blue Fantuan bag on the table behind me. I thanked her and wished her a nice day. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. They have different special offers each day from Monday to Friday. We ordered the special Linyi Style Stir Fried Chicken on Friday. And we also ordered Boiled Basa Fish with pickled Cabbage & Green Pepper. They were pretty traditional Chinese styles. The white rice or brown rice both can have as much as we could. That's good for men. We both like here, but they don't offer specials during the weekends. But they do have other special packages, just a bit different. And they also have the membership that we could collect points and then we could use the points to get drinks or different snacks or dishes.
