My favorite boutique shop in Frederick! This place is so cute! Yet another shop that I had to re-find because unfortunate circumstances forced a relocation. I fell in love with this store years ago. It has lots of gorgeous, vintage finds at great prices perfect for any woman! I first found a gorgeous studded leopard clasped bracelet that I had to have (will have to find a pic), and have adored the boutique since! It's been nearly seven years since I first stepped into Tiara Day, and since that first visit I've been saying that it's simply THE BEST retail store in Frederick. I'm a guy, so except for buying my wife jewelry, I have little business hanging out in the place "Where Girlfriends Shop", but since getting my first whiff of vanilla (from some candles), I have found the experience in the store to be transformative, almost making you feel like you've stepped into Paris itself. And while the atmosphere is fabulous, the quality of goods seems tremendous (again, what do I know? I'm a dude!) the prices reasonable, and the service from Maria and her mom Michelle, incomparable. And I've probably bought 20 pieces of jewelry there for anniversaries, birthdays, and Xmases. But go and see for yourself. "The best store in Frederick", again says me. read more

I couldn't help but take a picture with my bestie Lily under the Tiara Day sign, which tagline reads "The Place Where Girlfriends Shop" In addition to having a random assortment of old tins like every store in Frederick (I Love Dfred), they have large assortment of hands and drawer pulls. Who knew when walking into a boutique shop named Tiara Day that they would have a giant selection of drawer pulls. Why do I love drawer pulls as much as the owner of this little shop. I don't know... but I do. I almost hastily bought a collection of drawer pulls to put in a glass jar as a decoration. I really need a hobby. The burning question... YES: they do sell Tiaras. I saw very unique paper ones, but I'm sure they sell actual ones as well. They sell jewelry, pillows, a lot of gift type items. Oh, is this a cutsie wallet that says something to the effect of "My Shoe Fund." That's like everything in the store. I just made that one up... I really think I could go big with that. Kinda surprised to not see this place already reviewed, but ok. Tiara Day is basically a pretty decent sized vintage shop that sells mostly jewelry. There are a couple of handbags, and some clothes, and some other household items, but the focus seems to be on the many jewelry cases. I happened to find a wedding book from 1936 on display that was pretty fascinating. The flowers from the wedding were still pressed inside. This is one of the most darling shops I've ever been in. It's a little bit of everything marketed to women who love vintage, flowers, glitter, and a little bit of kitsch. There's no one type of item for sale: if it is velvety, sparkly, or just plain adorable you might find it here. It's a great place to shop for gifts that you won't find just anywhere (oversized pink diamond doorknobs anyone? Maybe a vintage hat?) I wouldn't think of going in here, but I stopped in today and was pleasantly surprised- Though the prices are a little high, they have a carefully curated collection of vintage items like frames, gloves, vanity items, clothing and more. They also have some delicious smelling candles and a variety of other new home items, including a drool-worthy selection of glass furniture knobs. No need to go to Anthropologie- Tiara Day's got everything you could need! Though the knobs were tempting, as were the latte flavored candles, my favorite item they carry is a bottle of Australian hibiscus flowers in syrup- perfect for champagne, or with goat cheese as appetizers.For $12, it's a great unique item... and it'll keep me coming back again and again, as it's the decadent item for holiday entertaining and the perfect gift for a few discerning foodies I happen to know. read more

What a cute shop downtown! It was Christmas Eve and all my shopping was done and I was just trying to get out of the house to avoid the chaos; I was just walking downtown and I am glad I stumbled on this lovely shop. I got some great Christmas cards from here, my family thought they were very witty! They also had some very beautiful vintage dresses and hats that I have to go back and check out when I have more time. The lady was very nice and we talked about the vintage store that used to be next door. They have everything from cards, jewelry, ornaments, hats and dresses. It is a very girly mother daughter shop. As someone who knows her vintage clothes & repro vintage pretty darn well.... I was surprised to see a "not even $30 Amazon dress" marked up to $70 and the original designers tags ripped off. (Note: I was able to find the same exact dress on eBay for $11.99) The new tags were labeled "made in the USA" and the stitching was CRAP on the tags. The tags were 1/2 way falling off on EVERY garment. Any designer who is putting either a size label or brand label in their garments would never do such a shitty job. (I'm also a seamstress) I asked the lady who was working that day if she knew who was the designer. She didn't. I guess that's okay. But if you're going to have a designers product on your shelf in mass quantities, you must be an authorized retailer (I would assume) and you would know the name of the brand you're stocking your racks with. Other than that issue, they had a great but overpriced selection of authentic vintage clothes. read more

We were traveling in the area and stoped in Frederick MD and found this absolute gem of a shop. Loved every thing about the shop. The selection was wonderful, so many vintage pieces with had made pieces from New York jewlery artists and great assortment of kitchey pieces from the U.K. I couldnt get enough! I have gone to Tiara Day a handful of times. I like the selection for sale. There is a nice balance between real vintage, modern-made vintage, and local goods. I'm also impressed at how much they've been been able to stick in one small store. It's well organized. My problem with Tiara Day is the staff. Look, I don't always buy something every time I walk through the doors of a shop. Sometimes I need a day to think through an expensive purchase, need a friend's second opinion, or just am enjoying a day walking downtown. I do make sure I buy from my local shops often - at least half the time I visit - so I don't appreciate the attitude that I am wasting the staff's time if I'm not throwing money at them. Case in point, I wanted to show my sister Tiara Day and the women behind the counter had hawk eyes on us the entire time. When my sister tried on clothes and decided not buy said clothes, the woman was very, VERY cold to us. We bought a couple of the handmade candles because they smelled so nice, but we don't plan on going back. read more

Most reviews for Tiara Day are spot-on. The shop has little signs requesting that folks not take pictures, so you probably won't find any, but it's a beautiful little place. Think quaint, antique things, vintage, French, Edith Piaf playing in the background and the smell of caramel. The prices are usually a little high for me (but to be fair, the things are lovely, vintage, hard to find, and not mass-produced,) and the staff is friendly. I prefer to keep to myself in shops, but the person behind the counter did offer some nice advice about the scents they offer and was knowledgeable. I really really wanted to buy something here but the customer service was godawful. My guy friend and I weren't acknowledged when we came in until I picked something up that was on display (and for sale!) and was promptly (and rudely) told to leave it alone and to ask for assistance if I wanted to see something. Their items are not exactly what you'd call precious (paper goods, apothecary items, assorted kitsch, etc.) so I was a little taken aback. Then I was followed around the store by the same woman who proceeded to hover over me and my male company until she ran us out with her uncomfortable glares. 2 stars for having some interesting things. Every time I walk into Tiara Day it is a feast for my eyes. I love how artfully everything is decorated, especially around the holidays! My absolute favorite are the vintage hand bags which I cannot pass up. I have bought them for myself and as birthday gifts for others. I absolutely love the women who work there. They are charming, courteous, and extremely helpful and never pushy. They always have a smile on their face, and unlike big department stores they don't ignore you and are attentive to your needs if you have any questions or need help. This is a MUST stop for me whenever I'm in Frederick. I don't see well and am often ignored in little shops, but the staff is always very attentive and asks if they can help me find something. All the jewelry is great, lots of unique finds, but I think the real treasure is in the vintage clothing in the back! They are obviously very discriminating about what they sell. Found this beautiful navy blue satin dress with a great close cut and a cape style back, too small for me unfortunately and a little too retro for my more conservative teen daughter. I love this shop! There's always something old or new to catch my eye. I didn't at all, and never have had the experience that others mention, and I shop here a few times a year. The prices are exactly as expected for vintage items in excellent shape and condition. Vintage, many dresses from the 50s and older. Of course there may be some issues with tags, these are old, gently loved pieces of clothing . If you want to shop eBay, this isn't the store for you.
