While waiting, I was greeted by Tammy and Janet, both very nice ladies. I immediately felt "at home". I learned that they have been working together for years! The facility was clean (I checked the corners!), though a bit dated, but that doesn't bother me if it's clean and I receive great service, which I did! Mayra arrived and was very friendly and "warm". She made me feel at ease right away. I explained that my former hairdresser had retired, and this was my first cut since then. I had gotten Mayra's contact info from a customer at my job who had a mature pixie cut that looked lovely! Mayra then listened very carefully and respectfully to all my issues I shared with having fine, thin, gray hair that has been in a pixie for many years. She asked a few questions, which helped me feel that she was really interested in my needs. She then gave me a wonderful shampoo with an intense rinsing that was quite pampering! As soon as she started cutting, I felt at ease! She handled the cut with confidence and I didn't feel like I needed to remind her once about what I had already explained. Mayra shared that she was willing to cut and recut, because you can "cut more off, but you can't put it back ". After the first cut, the back was still a bit long, so she happily recut and reshaped, and even asked me about a couple more areas that I might want adjusted. After styling, I had a pixie that I knew was "perfect". Normally, I have a complaint or two about my cuts (I'm just super picky, as my family would attest to!), but this time... none! Even the one side of my hair that everyone cuts too short, was cut to my liking! Extra bonus, Mayra's price for a cut is very competitive! Pros: - Traci was sweet and personable - Salon had movies on to keep clients entertained - ombré ash tone turned out nice (but only lasted 4-5 days) Cons: - hair was extremely damaged after session. I've Had ombré done before and other services but never experienced such damage like this! - bad hair cut/ trim - brass color came back less than 7 days later - let Traci know how damaged my hair was as I was in Shock but never received an apology. Instead she expressed to me how the process used a lightning and bleaching agent which like any coloring service , hair follicles will be damaged. I understand that but what I'd rather have was an explanation of that before the damage had been done. It wouldn't feel regretful if she was honest about the integrity of my hair if going through the process. Traci offered a $10 discount on olaplex treatment or 20%off Brazilian blowout. But at this point the last thing I wanted was to spend more money to fix something that I shouldn't have had to.

She did an amazing job on color correction on my hair. One colorist at a different salon literally broke off the entire top part of my hair down to 1cm with some longer strands. I looked like Gollum from the Lord of the Rings. Cindy managed to make my poor hair look great again. People in my building started to compliment my hair as if I meant to style it and color it that way. I found Cindy thanks to my coworker who lives in Long Beach and swears by Cindy's work. I don't exactly live close by - far from it! But I make the trip because she is so amazing. One of her specialties is extensions too.

Lastly, I get my nails done by Linh at Pieces Nail Salon! Linh is the best! I keep my nails super short and do the gel builder in natural nail for $55. It's $20 more than a regular nail salon which charges $35, but the $20 is worth it! She is appointment only and you must pay a $20 deposit to reserve your appointment. She is always on time and I never have to wait! This is huge for me as a mom. She applies gel builder the correct way, with a paint brush and jar of the builder. Unlike other nail salons that I go to that brush it on like nail polish and it chips with it a few days. With Linh, my nails have never been stronger! Highly recommend!
