I received a watch as a gift that had a leather strap with a deployment buckle/clasp that I could not for the life of me figure out how to place it on my wrist. So I took it to Tick Tock Jewelers with the intent to replace the strap with a different one. However, Jeff took one look at it and said I didn't need to replace the strap. He took the time to explain to me how a deployment buckle/clasp works (he had one on his arm too) and he fit it perfectly on my wrist. So upset with Tick Tock jewelers. Really trusted this place but ended up being incredibly disappointed and having wasted 2 months waiting for an engagement ring to be resized. Was misled (they told me it could be resized and then 3 weeks later, said it could not). They didn't call me or inform me of where my ring was (it was somehow in New York?) when they promised they would, and I ended up having to call them repeatedly instead. I lost all trust in their customer service. If I could give a place 0 stars, I would. Update: Based on the response below, it seems they did not understand the problem was customer service - if you pride yourself in "do no harm," why say yes to a job you cannot do? Why assure the customer multiple times and THEN make them wait several weeks to say no? I should have been told this from the beginning, not misled by the lady with black hair assuring me "we can do it" multiple times. In addition, I believe one should inform customers that jewelry will be sent out of state (to NY), something that was also not communicated to me. My recommendation from personal experience is to go somewhere else. I went here to get a link of my watch chain taken out. They did good work. However, I was not impressed with the customer service. I felt that removing the link was a little overpriced but I didn't say anything because I just wanted to get out of there. The older woman, I believe is the owner, I found to be extremely unpleasant although I did not interact with her directly. She raised her voice several times and just created a very tense atmosphere. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. From my point of view, it's very no frills and very to the point. I don't think that really works today in this kind of environment but they keep getting business. I just think it is a little overpriced for what I was asking to do. read more

Great experience with ring resizing and cleaning I went in on my lunch break with a ring that needed to be stretched out a bit. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and all the staff I spoke with were kind and courteous. Not only did they help me right then and there, but they cleaned my engagement ring while my other ring was being stretched. Their service was very fast, and I'll definitely be back. I've been going to this jewelry shop since I was a little kid, I grew up not too far from it. It is such a great place to check when you're in Burlington, their vintage/estate jewelry is always so great! Today I was in town and needed a new watch resized. The woman that works in the back of the store doing watch fixing was so rude to me and insisted she was right to something I had investigated myself beforehand. She did not help solve the problem but instead told me to return the watch and buy one from their shop. I was going to get a ring fixed after my watch but I was so annoyed I had to leave. The only good part about the trip was seeing Cindy. Very upset to ever have a bad experience at such a great spot. read more

I was in the shop yesterday to look around as I had never been in before. The lady standing behind the counter asked me if I was looking for anything in particular and I said not really... She looked at my rings and asked if I wanted them cleaned. I did not as I only let my jeweler touch my rings. She then said did you know we sell men's tie bars? I said, no (with a confused look on my face. I wasn't wearing a tie and that's an odd thing to look for especially as a 28 year old.) She said, Well you do now! In a snarky attitude. I always go here to get my watch batteries replaced - they always last at least 2 years, if not longer, and the people really know what they're doing. When I tried other places, like one place in the University Mall because of convenience, it died within 9 months. No thanks, I'll make the extra effort to go to downtown to these folks, as I have for the last 30+ years! The Tick Tock Shop (as it is affectionately called locally) has been around for a long time, and that's not by sheer chance or by being a bad business. One thing I love about them is their Estate Case. You can find beautiful, old (read: quality!) jewelry pieces of ALL kinds for very good prices. Often there are pieces that you just could not find among new jewelry, because they just don't make them like that anymore! And...I think this is a plus...there is a beautiful patina of age, of having been worn and loved, and having some history, and yes, some mystery. We've been customers for many years and have always been pleased with the selection of jewelry/watches available as well as the quality of service provided. Most recently I brought two watches in for battery replacements and I when I picked them up, I was cautioned that one of the watches (purchased out-of-state many years ago) still didn't tick properly. I said I'd give it a try for awhile and bring it back if it needed additional repair. When I returned, my watch was cleaned at no charge while I waited and returned to me in working order. We will continue to make Tick Tock our first stop when purchasing jewelry or having it repaired. read more

I needed a watch strap replaced, and didn't bother asking for the original clasp from the original band to be placed on the new band. I was delightfully surprised to see that the original clasp was placed on the new band without me even having to ask, and was told "they pay attention to the details." I had 3 batteries replaced recently 1 lasted less than a month. I always send my very expensive watch to factory for battery. They did not want to send it. Told me a needed a new watch for thousands! I insisted that they send it which they finally did. The quote came back for hundreds and I refused repair. I asked for the documentation when I picked the watch up and "I don't think we kept it" was the answer I got. I sent it on my own guess what watch needed a battery total $100 which included a complete diagnosis of watch. Interesting. Being new to area I know 1 place I will never shop again. read more

Years ago I went to Tick Tock for a simple watch battery change. I was so unimpressed by the service, I haven't been back in a long time. Today we went to shop for a new watch that my better half was buying me for a milestone birthday. After a stop at another local jeweler - with some disappointing service - it was both a relief and a surprise to get treated so incredibly well by the Tick Tock staff member. Cindy was amazingly helpful, endlessly patient, genuinely attentive, and tons of fun. I must have tried on 20 watches - and no matter the price point we were in at any given time, she was honest and willing to entertain our questions and my indecision. In the end, we left with a spectacular watch at a great price and feeling supremely taken care of. Can't say enough about Cindy and how gracious and friendly she was. Ask for her by name (and, before you wonder, they don't work on commission there - nothing about it was a pitch, which made it all the more pleasant an experience.) read more

I did end up buying a watch here, but it felt like one of the staff persons whom I talked with would say anything to get me to buy a watch. He seems all over the place and discouraged me me from looking at what I wanted to buy, which seems to contradict that adage, 'The customer is always right.' He has a very good aesthetic sense and has selected from their "modern" choices - each piece has been unique, tasteful, and lovely. He really hasn't found items that meet his standards in other stores. I'm sure the items weren't inexpensive, but that isn't what determined their quality. So, I've been very pleased with their inventory! I was rather disheartened, pretty annoyed actually, to see on their webpage that the modern jewelry was chosen by the seven "girls" at the shop. The Tick Top Shop recently repaired the watch I gave my husband for our 25th anniversary. Shortly after he picked it up, it stopped working. It appears that the stem had broken. Although the watch was more than 15 years old, the shop was able to find a replacement stem from a watch that had been traded in and repaired his watch at no charge. My husband is extremely happy to have his watch back in working order as it is irreplaceable. The employees were very understanding and went out of their way to make the repair possible. I recently brought a Michael Kors watch into Tick Tock after one of the screws has become loose and fallen out. After reading many positive reviews, I was hopeful that they could help replace the screw and bring my watch back to wearing condition, boy was I wrong. This was perhaps THE WORST customer service experience I have ever had. First the counter attendant said "sorry, can't help you here. We don't have this part or carry this brand of watch". Ok, no problem. She then went on to say that the watch was "actually a pretty cheap quality" and "not built well" and "would most likely break again in the near future". All while the person who gave it to me as a thoughtful gift was standing right next to me. I'm sorry, whether cheap or not, have some decency for people who can't afford a $1,000+ watch! She finished her ridicule by suggesting that "I should really consider buying local because then they would have fixed it for me".....well, isn't that what I was doing? I would not recommend this place in the past it has served me well. I now can say I no longer will consider them. I brought my watch to them and the face of the watch was fine my husband and I both looked at it and the reason he would have looked at it because we thought the hands were stuck together. I took it down to the tick tock shop and the older lady looked at it and thought the same. The watch evidently was missing a hand well they replace the hand and dropped the tool on it and scratched the gold on it and has a small dent as I had a qualified person look at it today. The manager of the store worked on it and I went to pick it up yesterday walked out of the store and realized it wasn't right went back into confront her and she said it was there when I brought it in and it wasn't. She said it was on the stub we got both stubs and no where did it say that we argued back and forth and I told her 1st she lied and then she defaced the value of my watch. Please people out there if you are taking anything of great value take a picture before you bring it in to them. She offered to try and color it in with a pen and the people I talked today never heard of such a thing. They are not to be trusted and I feel sad because not only is my watch ruined but this place has been around every since I was a kid. The money my Father left me I bought this watch so it means a lot to me. I will consider all my outlets to have this matter taken care of. Sue for the value of the watch,court cost and filing fees.
