Awesome store on Church street, lots of variety and prices are very reasonable given the location.

Frenetic and eclectic. There's your TL;DR…read more But Barge Canal Market deserves a deeper dive, because this warehouse of a one-seller flea market has consigned goods, salvaged treasures and a full comic book nook! Where else will a CRT screen air VHS-quality reruns of I Dream Of Jeannie beside a love(and death)seat gothic tableau. Magically scary is right! I can't say there are a ton of practical goods to outfit your complete home, unless you're like Elvira or Pee-Wee Herman or an eccentric millionaire that wants to recreate nuclear family households through the decades. That practical disclosure disclosed, you're bound to find an accent piece or three that gives that IKEA aesthetic you've been glomming on to for years a little break in the ordinary. The wife snagged a cool little countertop cloche for $12. Bullseye. Finally, the name Barge Canal Market just looks like it should be rearranged to spell a code phrase. Maybe by an alt rocker or someone quirky. But not right now or anything. I don't know; I guess we can just "ANAGRAM LATER, BECK" Success!

There are toys, books, desks, chairs, lamps, appliances, etc. The most interesting part was probably the toys, many of which were new or with their original boxes, which is not something you see frequently in antique stores. Also check out the used book/record shop right behind this store (it's called "Speaking Volumes").

NOT to be TRUSTED. I paid him $15 to change my watch battery. When I returned to pick it up, he…read moresaid, "I set the 'Time' but not the 'Month' or the 'Date'." Honestly I rarely use these, so trying to be kind, I told him, "NBD, I use my phone for that" .... But, then it stopped ticking 2 days later. When I returned to the store, I requested he place a new battery in & asked that he show me the package (so I could check the expiration date). He walked out from the back with just the expired battery he removed from my watch to show me. So, I said, "No, I want to see the package of the NEW battery you're putting in, so I know it's NOT EXPIRED." He returned with his supply (i.e., 2 batteries: both expired 2020). I asked him for my $15 back, and he REFUSED because he said I did not have my receipt. Then, to make matters worse! ... on my Google 1-STAR Review of LIPPA's he lied, saying he "could not find my name anywhere in his computer system" ~ trying to make it appear as if I had the wrong Jewelry Store (funny... He never did ask for my name today; he simply stated without my yellow receipt, he would not REFUND ME $15 for dishonestly placing an EXPIRED 2020 WATCH BATTERY in my wrist watch) A THIEF is a THIEF (thieves always lie; they have, or they get caught) and a LIE is a LIE: a Tiger doesn't change their stripes, no matter how big, or small their kill is. LIPPA's does NOT DESERVE Anyone's BUSINESS, or TRUST. ~ I suppose if I walked in with an expensive suit & tie to buy an engagement ring, he would have had the decency to behave himself better & not steal from someone 65 y.o. on a fixed income. Shame on this man & his mother who raised him.

Buying rings can be an overwhelming experience but Mike and the staff were super helpful on site and thoroughly went over questions such as what we wanted; what was important to us; likes/dislikes; etc - and used that info to narrow the focus and show us options that would potentially work. Both the bride and groom are super happy with the results and Lippa's wedding bands will be with us the rest of our lives. We highly recommend Lippa's.

I popped in once when I lived in the area and had such a positive experience selling a few pieces of gold that when I moved three hours away to the NY area I still travel the three hours to this location. I always hesitate to give a less than stellar review for places that are already very clearly…read morepoorly reviewed, but this is my household's second time coming here and second time having meh service; so, I thought I would detail my experiences. In February my husband took them an 1886 Morgan Silver Dollar for appraisal. It was in mint condition. They offered some amount around $175, but weren't really interested. I will say, the man who helped my husband was actually nice, so no complaints about him. Ultimately, we had it graded by P.C.G.S. After grading, it sold for $2100 at auction. For this reason, use this place as a second opinion, but do not allow them the privilege of being your only opinion. If you have the chance to go through a professional coin service, that is the better option. ----------- Today, I wanted to have one of my rings appraised. Again, the man answered the phone and was friendly. He told me to come in and they could look at it, but couldn't appraise for insurance purposes. When I actually got there I had the unfortunate experience of speaking with a woman. Co-owner perhaps? Who knows. In short, she looked at it and said they wouldn't be able to help because it's a Brilliant Earth Lab-Grown diamond. She was curt, short, and dismissive. Considering both experiences, this place must just be a money laundering scheme because there's no way that they're maintaining a legitimate business with this kind of behavior.
