Short review: just come to the shop. Long review: I had the BEST time at this place. Tim was so wonderfully patient with me as I asked about various pieces and jewelry processes, and had lots of knowledge about everything I asked about. I really appreciate how Tim was able to say when he didn't know something, rather than pretend to know. He resized my ring right in front of me, making adjustments as needed to fit me PERFECTLY. If you want a piece of jewelry, come here if you want it done right. I will be returning. One of the COOLEST stores on Church Street. Awesome selection of minerals, fossils, and gems. Beautiful selection of jewelry, and they do custom work at very reasonable prices. Only place I've ever shopped where the owner throws out a number instead of adding up your purchase and acts like he's giving a deal when in fact is charging more for the items than they actually cost. Called him on it and he made me look like the bad guy in front of everyone in the store. 35 + 10 + 2 + 1.6 does not equal 50, but I was like sure, probably not charging tax on top. Sure enough, over charged me and threw tax on, on top. Will keep my stone purchases to online from now on, at least then I'll know the location of origin for sure. And this is after standing around for 10+ minutes for him to acknowledge me. If you need to scam repeat customers for a couple bucks it might be time to close up shop. Ridiculous and won't be back out of principle. read more

Global Pathway's helped me fix and fortify my (obviously) cherished engagement ring, and they made it look easy. I went in a total of three times, and each time I left feeling confident and reassured that I was in good hands. They were patient with me, able to interpret my poorly relayed idea of what I wanted, and somehow re-imagined and handcrafted my ring even more beautifully than I could have hoped. This store is a great example of how some small businesses on Church Street shine far above the high-end competition. I'm mostly a spendthrift shopper. So I won't typically lose much sleep over going to a big name chain store to get what I need at a more reasonable price. But Burlington and Vermont, in general, offers a lot of real gems (yeah I meant that one) when it comes to the small local stores. Jewelry is no exception and Global Pathways seems to be a true star in that category. I've been in the store a few times to browse and it is a great browsing store. It has wall to wall gemstones, handmade pieces all neatly arranged by type, color, price range, etc. I highly recommend travelers stop in here while strolling Church Street and it is great eye candy and I'm betting you'll find something you like to buy here. What's unfortunate is it doesn't really stand out on the street. It's tucked in behind a behemoth of a restaurant with outdoor seating and basically shares a building entrance with another boutique store. So they only get one display window to the pedestrian street. As for the work and service they do, I can speak from recent experience of looking for an engagement ring. I started my process with the online research, shopping. Then I moved on to the major retailers to get hands on with rings and diamonds. But in the back of my mind I knew Global Pathways also sold diamonds and great rings (I had bought a ring there a few months earlier) so I definitely wanted to check out what they had to offer before landing on a decision. Right away, I knew I did the right thing by waiting. The sales clerk was EXTREMELY patient with me and took the time to show me just about all of the handmade options they sold but then took me down the road I hadn't considered: a custom-designed engagement ring. Yeah, they totally do that. I came away from that initial visit with a rough idea of what I wanted, a price range and got a call back with a rough quote within a day along with a chance to come back in and compare diamonds and talk with the artist. It took maybe two visits to work through the details and they were very forthcoming with the process and were all very excited about the project. I can't remember having as great, personal and caring business arrangement ever. Not only that, but the craftsmanship is just exquisite! Price was also very reasonable and we were able to get it done in a timely manner. I highly recommend this store especially for custom work. Truly caring artists here. read more

As a taxidermist specializing in bones, a gem collector, and a fossil lover, this place is paradise. It's a pretty small establishment, but it is choc-full of fantastic specimens at reasonable prices. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to chat about what you're looking for. The sale section in the back is a wonderful place to find rough-cut gems and minerals that didn't quite make the cut but are gorgeous nonetheless. I got one of my favorite Mosasaur teeth here, as well as a Burmese Sapphire that I adore. Global Pathways is always at the annual gem show that I frequent, and they're just as reliable and personable there. read more

Walked in here on a whim and was astounded at the affordable crystal and rock collection they had. The staff was so inviting and knowledgable that I expressed my disdain at having to wear both a wedding and engagement ring that did not match. They took the rings and fused them into a one of a kind band without straying from the original theme. Got the ring sent back in the mail with a beautiful note. My fiance and I got engaged when we were visiting Burlington this past November. We walked into Glabal Pathways and began designing the engagment ring with Molly . We really wanted this ring to be unique and come from the city where we got engaged. When we went back to Maine the staff was great about keeping in touch and making sure all the details were just right for the ring. A couple of months later we recieved the ring and it is stunning! This place is amazing! I needed a non-traditional engagement ring for my sweetheart because she and I are a creative couple and a couple that values the ethics of where things are sourced from. The folks at Global Pathways were willing to work through all of my creative ideas. They were so patient and helpful along the way, helping me design the perfect band, a non-traditional stone, and a hand engraving. The result was incredible-- a dazzling ring featuring a Vermont trillium garnet and a band of tapering saphires that can rival any diamond ring. They also went the extra mile. After I proposed and she said yes, we discovered that I had miscalculated her ring size. Global Pathways saved the day by re-sizing the ring for free even though the design made it quite challenging. Moreover, they did it in half the time it was estimated to take. I was really impressed with that high level of customer service, especially since it was about 8 months after the time I purchased the ring (it took me a while to get the courage to propose). They really do care about their customers and delivering a high quality product that works. And, on a side note, they didn't treat me like a criminal, which is what Fremeau's did when I talked to them--God forbid you wear a carhartt jacket in a jewelry store. In contrast, the owner of Global Pathway's shook my hand and congratulated me! Sometimes it's nice to be treated like a human even when you're not a member of the 1%. read more
