Chicken fingers and fries
Brenda H.

The staff were enforcing the COVID precautions. Large jugs of hand sanitizer were at the entrance and exit to the patio; it was necessary to use it before being seated. The menu and table were also sanitized before we could sit. The menu is typical pub fare (ie. don't expect anything too healthy). I ordered the chicken fingers which were way too salty as were the french fries that came with them. There were carrot and celery sticks on the plate but no dip except for the plum sauce for the chicken fingers. The service was good. Our server took our order quickly, came back to check on us after the food arrived and presented the bill in a timely fashion. The restaurant is located in a strip plaza with adequate parking.

$3.00 for two 1-ounce portions of ranch dressing to dip fries in (which was watered down) is RIDICULOUS. I would give you less than one star if possible. If you are going to rip people off like that you should let them know up front - absolutely RIDICULOUS.

Great bar to come hang around at and watch the game or converse with friends. The food and drink quality is great but it is a little above average. I would recommend the fish and chips as always a classic great dish. The staff is extremely friendly, and will not rush you like several other areas.

The service is always bad. The food is always worse. But if you live in the suburbs, or need a stiff drink after a visit with your parents who live in the suburbs, this seems to be one of the hot spots to do it. If you like to party with first-year York University students mixed in with a few Thornhill highschool kids with fake IDs, you're going to feel at home at The Tickled Toad (or "The Toad" as locals call it). The patio isn't bad, in the summer, for happy hour beers, but other than that, I cannot recommend this place in good faith, unless your initial plans were to dine at McDonalds.

I had the Montreal smoked meat which looked promising but the meat was not as tasty as I was hoping. I guess don't order Montreal smoked meat outside of Montreal. I sat up at the bar and the bartender was lovely about and poured me a practically perfect Guinness. I had a great view of the hockey game on all the different screens available, great sport bar. Would come back to watch a game and change up my food expectations though.

I came here on Saint Patrick's day to score a green beer and they have a ton of beer options to choose from. Server was friendly and attentive and even offered a free green hat and glasses to add on the festivities. It's not too busy here and you'll easily get seats for Saint Patrick's Day. I think if you're huge into the holiday, you'll probably hit up Downtown. But if you want something low key and still get your green beer, this is a solid choice. We ordered the cheese burger and also the fish tacos along with some extra coleslaw. I heard the burgers are made in house and they are good and the fish taco size was quite generous and filling.

Venue 5/5 Lakefront…read morerestaurant with patio along boardwalk. Right on the main strip of Friday harbour. Patio has lounge like seating with umbrellas as well. They are also dog friendly (see below), as the other restaurant in resort are service animals only. Service 4/5 Came on a Saturday for supercars and jazz. More traffic than usual at the resort. That being said the team were pretty quick in getting our food to the table after ordering. The wait times for inside were longer than outside due to the heat. We sat outside but the breeze definitely helped out along with the umbrellas. Food 4/5 Portions were quite generous. We got a chicken wrap (chose honey garlic wing sauce) as well as nachos and a chicken Brie sandwich. The venue is also pet friendly , they had dog bowls a for food and water. They also had a dog beer (it is cold bone broth) for the dogs on the patio.

The place had a nice open layout with warm lighting. Crispy & Spicy Squid (4/5) was cooked perfectly. It was firm and crispy with red and green chillis. The sauces were on the sweeter side. We usually prefer the sauces to be more on the tangy and/or a creamy bold garlic flavour. Wagyu Burger (3/5) was decent. It came with two patties, smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, black truffle garlic aioli, tomatoes and pickles. The flavour profile met our expectation but we found that the patties themselves were a bit dry. We upgraded the side of fries for truffle fries (5/5) and those were delicious. Spicy Bison Sausage Rigatoni (5/5) was cooked perfectly. The sausage was complemented well with the acidity and delicate sweetness of the pasta sauce. The mushrooms were a great addition and the parmesan really tied in all the flavours together. We had the option to have it not spicy, mild or hot. We asked for hot because we enjoy spicy food but it was not as spicy as we had hoped it to be. NOTE: The bill comes with an additional 3% Resort Fee

It's also next to a drive-thru Scotiabank so watch out for cars coming from the drive-thru. Parking might get a little busy early brunch time on the weekends because there's a coras. Decor: When you walk up to the door you think you're walking upto a typical pub in a plaza. When you walk in dark wood, lower lighting just like all the other pubs. You look around and realize that dang this place is tiny. Teeny tiny. It's comfortable you're not jammed in with seating. The bar is small but it's never felt overwhelmingly crowded. This is a great place to go after work. Food: Very typical pub fare. All your pub favorites. The bar is fully stocked and they have lots on top Staff: I think they only have women servers but they're all very nice. I've never been there and didn't like anybody that worked there. I used to go all the time now I only go occasionally but it's always the same and it always know what to expect and I'm so glad of that. I'll go back I recommend this place to people a lot of the times. It's small but they don't rush you out and it's a little more quiet than a lot of pubs so it's great for having a conversation

They have a jukebox to add in your songs (long waitlist) and honestly was quite packed on Friday night as well. The server Denis presented us to the dart room where a couple was there. Our group was 5 people so he asked them to just move to the other table so we can take the other two. There were 3 tables in that room. This was perfect because we basically were in a private room, huge plus! We arrived on time for the happy hour and got lots of drinks, no food at all. The shots were pretty watered down or just did not taste 40% vodka at all. Also grabbed two wine bottles outside of the happy hour. Place is quite nice, very fun. Got a free shot, server was so kind as well. A great night indeed. Washroom for women is downstairs and men's washroom was beside the darts room. Would love to come here again for sure.

Food: /5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 4/5 Food: Hubby ordered the fish & chips. I had a penne pasta with beef. For bar food I think the cook at the Frog is actually pretty good. The food was delicious. I couldn't finish the pasta because I also ate the garlic bread that came with it. So I packed that up to go home. Just keep in mind people this is a pub. It's not a gastro pub where the food is supposed to be michelin star. So adjust your expectations. Having said that I still think the food here is decent. I haven't had any horrible food here. Service: We had a lovely black lady serving us. I didn't catch her name unfortunately. But we have been served by her before. She's perfectly nice & our service from her was great. She took our drink orders first. And then we placed our main dish orders. The food came out relatively quickly as well. We came here for lunch on a Saturday. Ambiance: The furniture has been rearranged a bit. There used to be a sofa at the back near the stairs to the washroom. Now there's a large table there. Other than that it's still the cozy pub vibe. I'm not sure why people have given recent bad review for this place. Hubby & I have been going here on & off for years & not had a bad experience.
