We've always found this mall ( collection of dealers ) to be a fun stop when we're on the west part of FW. But yesterday we found , or finally noticed , this beautiful mid century modern teak 4 panel chinoiserie screen. The dealer was amicable to our offer and came right down to remove it from their display. We went up the street while they did n came back shortly to find it ready and one of the owners of the mall offered to even give us a blanket to pack it in our vehicle but we were fine. We were also offered to help with loading, but we were fine again. They're friendly in here and have a really broad selection for collectors of every level. But ya gotta dive in ! We know we walked past the screen we bought before but sometimes if you're looking for something in your minds eye, you don't see other things. Pricing was on point and we were even more surprised and pleased when we found the whole store is 20% off on the first Sat. We didn't know this until we were checking out. This place has some neat finds and some good prices. It varies from booth to booth. There's one thing I can't stand however, and it's that one older lady with black hair who seems to have most of the booths in the mall. She commandeered me and directed me to her different booths (which frankly were not to my taste) not showing anything in anyone else's booth. If I was vendor at this mall I would be very upset with her aggressive tactics. I will be back but turn around and walk out if she's there. Very off-putting! read more

My first time in and I will not be back. I was followed around like I was stealing something. I couldn't even enjoy looking or even look in general without a man and this women following me like I'm a criminal. Made me very uncomfortable. When I spoke to the guy at the front register. He was like "okay and" didn't care at all. Even when I told I was uncomfortable the way I was being treated. Glad to know they don't care. I do not recommend this place. Great mall for fantastic finds. I have found gold coins, jewelry, vintage Louis Vuitton bags, golf clubs, cedar chests, plant stands, you name it all at great prices. Some vendors have amazing sales. Stopped to look for a few items. Many of the booths are so overfull you can't see items. I went into a booth to look at some paintings. As I carefully looked through the stack of paintings, one of them hit something on a shelf which knocked down other items and everything tumbled down- 2 items broke. I took the items to the front desk and the lady simply said, "it says everywhere, you break it, you buy it". So I paid for the items and left empty handed. Maybe that's their trick to make money since it seems items are very overpriced. Just create a hazard so if a customer looks at something, they're forced to pay. I will NOT be returning and suggest that if you dare to venture in, don't touch a single thing. The booths are set-up like a house of cards. I love spending $43 to walk out empty handed. Great pace for vintage and eclectic items. Lots of different vendors all with different tastes and themes, so there is a lot to choose from. Prices very fair. We bought several items even though our intention was to simply look around. Staff at the checkout desk were very nice and they have volunteers wandering around if you need help. We've been going to this antique store a few times until last Sunday, when we decided to browse but the owner decided to follow us around. I had my hands busy with a bottle of water and my purse while my husband kept his hands visible. No matter where we went she was there pretending to be looking through the booths. There were other customers in the store and we were the only ones being followed, we realized there was an attendant that walked past us a few times but she kept going, unlike this lady following us every step of the way. There was no need for us to be followed, we have no guilty conscience and no need to steal. I wonder if she had 'motives' because of how we looked or our race? My husband became uncomfortable and when he made a comment out loud that is when she went back to her cage. I decided against making my purchase because of this experience. read more

Priced To Sell! This little collection of antiques and retro items has become my favorite place for old school items. There seems to always be new items and the best thing is they are priced to sell. The dealers aren't just looking for that big sale, they really do seem to want their merchandise to move. A few of the booths that have been there from the beginning really need a makeover, but for the most part the dealers seem to keep things looking fresh. I am totally grossed out that they give you a key to the bathroom on a gigantic key ring if you need to use the restroom. I mean, what do people do with that key while in there... that thing has to be covered in grossness. Thus, I don't use the bathroom... They need to trash that key and just allow people to pee without handling everyone's germs. But hey, great place overall! read more

I stopped in here the other day after going to The Mercantile. After the disappointment of the previous shop not really being a true antique store I was pleased from the moment I walked into this place.until I left. While I didn't find anything that I couldn't live without I did find several things that peaked my interest. While it's not a large location they have a lot of good items spread through the different booths. One of my pet peeves is when you go into an antique store and half the items are brand new and just junk to take up space. I didn't see a single thing here that was like it. It was all old and love items. I'll definitely be back again on my search for the perfect pieces of history for my home. read more

I've always enjoyed thrifting, but just recently I have started visiting antique shops and this one is a real winner! I initially thought that it was one large antique shop, but it's kind of an antique mall in that small particle walls separate each vendor booth from one another. Each price tag will have a vendor booth number on it, and when you pay they are the ones that get the payment. Each booth has its own prices and it's own sales. A good time to visit is the first Saturday of the month, when everything in the store is 20% off. It's customer appreciation day and they also have treats for customers. There's so much good stuff here! I do think that some items are overpriced, but the quality and condition of the items here seems to be better than other places I've been to. And having different vendors is definitely an appeal because each vendor sells different kinds of things. So far my favorite vendors are Beads of Nola and Vintage Chic and there are two others whose names I don't remember but they also have really great vintage/farmhouse items. One thing you will also find here is that many of the vendors make items. One of the vendors makes their own mason jar soap pumps and sells potted plants in mason jars. Many of the vendors also refinish their antique items and then sell them. Another vendor makes her own bath bombs. As with any antiquing, the key here is to be sure to give yourself plenty of time to peruse the store. That way you can pick up items, turn them over, take a good look at them, and really size up if you want to buy items or not. This is also a good idea because sales are final here. They also will not allow haggling it seems like. But, thankfully, there are always sales going on so that helps. Already purchased a few great items and can't wait to come back for more! read more

As a business, I liked Ties to the Past. it is well set up and organized. As a deal there I would not give you two cents. Until today, I had a booth there and thought I was OK. On the 13th of September, I lost my home and my job, both on that day. The next time I had a volunteer day, (all dealers have to put in 6 hours per month to help the staff) I informed the owner that I was homeless and had no money. When my rent for the booth was due, I reminded them of my situation and said I would pay the rent as soon as I got my last check from my former employer. Today I got that money and called to pay the rent. I was informed by William that I had the option to leave from the owner and that I owed $20 per day from the 1rst in addition to my rent. He kept talking about the contract and I keep telling him that there is room for compassion and empathy when things happen that are beyond a person's control. Supposedly he called the owner and the owner wants me to leave, so I will not even get the option to make payments. Again he talked about the contract being a legal document. I finally told him that I didn't give a damn about the contract and that I didn't have to leave. So now my things are being boxed up and I have to leave. I am trying to get back on my feet and they just took the last revenue stream I had. Thanks for reminding me that I am at the bottom of the barrel and that since veteran's resources were at a dead end for me (yes I am a veteran) that they don't want me either. So, you better have your finances in order because the owner is a greedy bastard just like everyone else in this day and age. I am sorely disappointed. read more

This is the kind of hidden gem that's so good you almost want to keep it to yourself and not write a review. I've been to probably every antique mall in DFW multiple times--and antique malls in other regions as well--and I can't remember the last time I had so much fun! After a disappointing stop at Montgomery Street Mall and being put off by the kinds of prices sellers were charging for fairly common things, I arrived here. It was wonderfully different. The staff was friendly from the moment I stepped in the door until the time where they were helping me load my car (I mean cram it: tetris style) full of all my treasures. The booths are nicely varied, have some fairly unique things you wouldn't find at other places, and seem to have very artistic booth owners with a good eye for elegance. Whereas at 80% of the antique malls I go to the prices are often double what I'd expect, here many things were half as much. For example: an original 16x20 oil painting from 1923 ($32). Two Tiffany style lamps: $60 and $30 (vs. $125 - $225 at most stores). A 16" x 36" Tiffany style art glass light shade: $50. I have never been so disappointed. We shop at Ties to the Past constantly. I even have family and friends going. Yesterday I found a perfect table, thought on it last night, and decided to go back and get it today. When we took the tag up front the people made several negative comments about having to clear the table since it was used for display for jewelry. Then they proceeded to say the glass wasn't included for the table sale. We asked if they would call the booth owner to be sure. They did and confirmed she was just borrowing the glass table top from another booth owner. So we asked if that owner would be willing to sell the glass too. Next thing we know we were being told the table was not for sale. I still don't know how that was possible considering they had just spoken with the owner and it was for sale 5 minutes before that. It even had a descriptive tag in the same writing as other items in that booth. So now that booth owner lost out on a sale, and Ties to the Past lost out on me ever shopping there again. Rest assured I will also be telling people that I originally recommended the store to as well. Poor customer service and loss of sale for their booth renters. read more

I will never go there again. I purchased a brand new bracklet and it broke the second time I wore it. When I tried to ask the lady to call the vendor to see if she would make it right, she absolutely refused to. She should have let the vendor make the decision as to whether or not she wanted to call me, not her. It's poor business on their part and I will not ever tell anyone about this place again. read more
