Compared to many salons I've experienced both in LA and Orange County, I have yet to find another hairdresser better than J (or at a better price!). What I appreciate most about J is that she isn't afraid to tell you the truth- if I come in with an idea for a certain style or color, she won't hesitate to tell me if she believes it wouldn't look good based on my current hair color or hair. Even better, she will suggest minor changes that will work better for my type of hair, many of which include technical terms I don't completely understand. J will take the time to explain exactly what she plans to do, and often asks if I'm comfortable with the length she is cutting or the hairstyle as she is working on it. I most recently visited her salon for a long bob and ashy highlights- my hair was a dark brown and she very honestly told me that the color may not be possible unless I came in for two coloring appointments. I explained that I would only be in Honolulu for a few more days, and instead she highlighted my hair and toned it (free of charge!). My hair color came out exactly how I wanted it, and I was touched that she found a way to help me find exactly what I was looking for with less time and money. Thank you J!!

As for my gel manicure and my pedicure, she did an awesome job. I'm picky about my gel. I don't like when it's too this and I hate when it's too thin. I love glitter and she did an awesome glitter fade on my tips. Then she did a nail design on my toes and also added glitter. This is the best place I've found in Hawaii Kai and Su is very friendly and easy to talk to. I finally found an awesome place to get my nails done!

It is airy, modern and just a great place to walk into. You'll have an amazing view of the Manoa mountains from there! Anjalee knows her stuff and is incredible especially when it comes to blonde highlights/ombré/melts. I have naturally dark hair but got cool blonde ombré that looks really natural because the transition is gradual and when it grows out it looks even better which means I can go months in between visits. I walked so I didn't park BUT I was the first appointment in the salon and I was there from 9-2:30 and I overheard a few people say that they couldn't find parking but it looked like they had ample parking I opted in for a balayage and hair cut. I was torn between going dark or going light but I went light so it took a few hours or so. Do your research ladies on hair colors and styles you like, it will help a lot! Anjalee addressed all my questions and concerns from color, how to maintain it, what shampoo and conditioner to use. Has a very welcoming personality and easy to talk to! In my personal experience in researching a hair stylist on island, price was a huge factor for me. Anjalee will give you a quote if you are able to provide to her what you are trying to achieve. Though it hurt to spend what I did (saving for a wedding so money is tight!) it was worth it. I found Radical Mane at Oasis studio by word of mouth from another hair stylist in the area. I was…read moreinterested in a complete hair overhaul that I'd been thinking of for some time. I was able to text Jordyn from her info available on her website. I initially contacted the another hair stylist about a dramatic cut, but she didn't do color and referred me to Radical Mane for that. Jordyn asked a lot of questions via text to make sure I'd thought through my decision and to understand what I was asking for. I ended up doing both appointments the same day, the color right after the cut. This was fairly easy, since both locations were within walking distance of each other. I'm happy I had two experts each doing what they loved doing best! The cut at Winam Studios was amazing, and I walked over to Radical Mane about a block away, located upstairs by a Himalayan Restaurant. I trusted Jordyn's expertise on what specific color to add to the top to add a bit of contrast between my longer locks and short hair. I've never dyed my hair before, so I think she went with as natural of a look as possible, while still adding the contrast I desired. She mostly added simple highlights to avoid a harsh line that would be evident as the hair grew out. The studio was clean and comfortable, with beautiful art by a local artist up on the walls. Jordyn is super personable and wise beyond her years. We talked about life, and she ended up recommending a book to me! Both the cut and color turned out better than I could ever have imagined! It's comfortable and super low-maintenance. I don't have to wash my hair as often, don't sweat as much, and never need a hair tie. My hair looks amazing after simply messing it around with my fingers and flipping to the side. Friends that have known me for years have asked me why I hadn't had this haircut sooner. They tell me it fits my personality perfectly! I love that I can look chic or punk rock, depending on what I wear and how I wear my hair! Now I look like the artist I am! I needed my hair cut, and my usual stylist at a walk-in place quit. Since I was "chancing it" with a new stylist, I called around looking for places that could take me asap. Stuart was the only one who returned my call, and he was able to fit me in that same day. My hair is short, fine, and very straight. So straight that even a textured cut looks flat and straight without lots of product. I've been told by numerous stylists over the years that it's slippery and hard to cut. I told Stuart what I wanted, and he did it perfectly. His 30 years of experience definitely shows in the quality of the cut. I need lots of texture, and for the first time ever, I could actually see the texture coming through even before adding any texturizing product. Another benefit of this salon is that they are not selling a product line. Stuart recommended a powder type texturizer that worked way better than what I normally use. He had a little jar of it, but he doesn't sell it. He showed me how to apply it, gave me the rest of the jar, and told me about a beauty supply store that sells to the public where I could buy more when I run out. I'll definitely be going to Stuart at Hairspray Salon from now on. I HIGHLY recommend him. The price was reasonable too, and there is plenty of parking in the area.
