A lonnnngggg overdue review but Tasha was so so good! Back in June last year my boyfriend and I wanted to donate our hair that we let grow out during the covid times... We went and got our hair cut by Tasha, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Not only did she give both of us great new haircuts but she also helped us donate our hair to a worthy cause. Tasha's expertise and attention to detail were evident throughout the entire process, and I felt completely at ease in her capable hands. I absolutely love this salon. As soon as you walk in you feel like you are in a colorful sanctuary! The quality of everything from the massaging chairs for a hair rinse down to the hand sanitizer is 100% on point! (but seriously the chairs that massage while you get the shampoo rinsed are so A+!) I love coming here. My stylists name is Tasha and she is the best colorist I have ever had (and I am extremely picky). Tasha is super knowledgeable and knows exactly what to do and what color works best. She is like a hair scientist/magician! I highly recommend coming to this salon. I went into the Color Lounge yesterday for my very first Brazilian blowout and I was seen by Janelle. First, I want to speak on the location of the salon. It is very easy to find, and parking was no issue at all. (It's free, and conveniently right behind the salon.) The salon is so bright and welcoming. Very modern, clean and VEGAN products are used! Now to the service. Janelle was exceptional! She answered all of my questions about Brazilian blowouts, as this was my first time having one. She was very pleasant to be around, knowledgeable, and professional. My hair turned out exactly as I imagined. Very shiny, straight and so, SO soft! Thank you so much Janelle! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I am appalled at the service I have just received. I booked a root touch up and style, but left with 1 - 2 inch thick lines of heavy black dye below the root line all over my forehead, ears and neck. The stylist plastered the dye on my forehead but was not able to remove it. After she had styled my hair, and indicated that she was finished, I pointed out that while I was happy with the color, I was not happy with the very obvious dye lines still on my forehead. I then sat there for twenty minutes while she scrubbed away at the dye with baby wipes, leaving my forehead raw and sore. She was not able to remove it, so I will be forced to wear a baseball cap until the dye on my forehead & neck fades. I am appalled that I was required to pay for this and will not be returning to Color Lounge. read more

I had decided to try transitioning from a darker medium blonde to full Icy blonde and after seeing all the amazing work that Janelle has done, I had to book an appointment with her! I was very hesitant to completely try a new look, and one of my primary concerns was that my hair remain healthy and shiny as I usually try to keep a long layered style. I had my first appointment with Janelle today for a color, cut & blow dry and look forward to going back! My appointment reminder included valuable information like the free parking in back. I drove over from Kailua and found parking easily. The salon is welcoming and colorful. The ambiance is SO relaxing and just what I needed after a stressful week. When I came across their page, I figured to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. She took such great care of my daughter and her hair looks absolutely fantastic all tho it does make her look more grown up but I need to let her fly. The salon was so easy to find. They have free parking located in the back. The ladies who work there was so friendly and super welcoming. The atmosphere felt like a girls hang to get together and relax. It was my first time here last year as this place was recommended by a friend. I liked my highlights. Why the 3 stars? When I came home and realized my blouse had specs of color that was impossible to get out. Not sure if this occurred after they shampoo my hair and perhaps it was a new employee, but I was very disappointed. I saw Tasha for highlights, toner, and a cut/blowdry. Omg she has a technique with thw foils that got the highlightstight right up to my scalp with no lines of demarcation and all perfect framing my face. My hair is black being asian, Caucasian and Hawaiian and she got it the full on light ash blonde in this one appointment. Her trim also perfect as well as blow out. Usually one thing is off with other stylists Ive seen, like the highlights will be great but you suffer through the crappy blow out and always skip the cut lol but with Tasha all of it was perfect. Im super stoked on her highlight ability to get it all tight up to my scalp like that, its a big deal to me:) very happy! read more

Have been a client of Janelle since she worked at Aveda at Ala Moana. Had great service from Janelle there. Went to her home salon. Good service. My first visit to her new shop The Color Lounge was good but went down hill from there. I just came in for touch ups. I began to feel like a second class client but Color Lounge. Was I not spending enough money ? The last visit at Color Lounge I sat with hair color in my hair for an extraordinary amount of time. I know when I am being neglected. OK... try Color Lounge one more time. Called. There were 2 options for the following week. Tues. or Thursday. I selected Thursday. Janelle messaged me.. wanted to change my appointment. Janelle has done that before... I said no I want to keep the day you offered. Her comment to that was.."ok np...for your appointment Thursday, I will be squeezing you in between another color service to accommodate you if that's ok." I thought about that and...Well... no.. that's not ok to be squeezed in after waiting for this appointment. Very insulting to me. Similar to my last appointment with Janelle. So I am done with Janelle and Color Lounge. I am a not a customer she really wants. I'm the bread and butter customer...not the steak order. I discussed this situation with several other women and they said... "You spend money at a salon to enjoy yourself... not to be told you will be "squeezed in" when you have made an appointment.
