Tiffin Fairmount has an incredible chef and their cauliflower bezule is hands down the best vegetarian appetizer in Philadelphia.

It felt like the perfect chance to try some dishes we don't usually order while getting a good deal. Overall, the Restaurant Week menu was a solid value (up to $18 worth of extra food). While the dishes we ordered didn't quite beat our usual favorites, everything was still tasty. The restaurant itself is clean and well ventilated. It's also baby-friendly--they have high chairs, and although it can get a bit loud when busy, our little one didn't seem to mind at all. Big bonus points for convenient onsite parking with validation. It was freezing out, so being able to park and walk right in was a huge plus. The staff were very professional. One dish came out undercooked, and our server fixed it immediately. The Restaurant Week drink specials were just okay--I'd probably skip those next time. Since Thanal is already a regular in our takeout rotation, we'll definitely be ordering again soon. I'd also happily dine in again during the next Restaurant Week.

The ambiance and decorations are a very nice touch, and everything feels clean and well kept. Service - Even though we came on a Friday without a reservation, they were able to seat us within 20 minutes, which we really appreciated. Overall, the service was excellent. What We Ordered - Plain Paratha - which was not as good as the paratha I have had at other restaurants Saag Paneer - which was very good Lamb Karahi - which was also very good Final Thoughts - I would definitely come back if we are in the area again to try more items from the menu.

This is an expensive restaurant. Let me say that right up front. The cheapest bottle of wine on the…read morelist is a delightful white with notes of lychee, melon, and refreshing acidity. It's about $45, which is a bit pricey for a screw top type wine, but it tasted great, so no issues here. ANYWAY. You're seated in a massive dining room with beautiful furniture, and understated, modern clean lines. There's so many thoughtful touches. The water they give you when you sit down is filtered water. The cutlery is large and generous. The dining tables are set with beautiful stoneware in light colours to complement the food. There was a quiet elegance anywhere you look. We got the murungai (moringa) leaf vada. Vada were crisp on the outside and steamy and varied in texture on the inside. Moringa leaves were bright green. Lots of delicious spices coming up from it. They were presented on a small bed of coconut chatni (which is the traditional accompaniment to vada), and topped with a vividly green fried curry leaf. Why am I mentioning how bright green the moringa leaves and curry leaves are? Because that shows how fresh they are. The banana leaf that it was all perched on wasn't brown on the edges. It was also fresh. These guys had been fried and pulled right out of the oil to come to our table with impeccable presentation. My dining companion got a chicken dish, and I got a vegan onion masala dosa. The cost of the dosa is around double what I'd pay in a hole in the wall dosa shop, but the chicken dish is around what I'd expect to pay at a restaurant. That said, the dosa was one of those massive ones that you'd get at a dosa shop, but cooked to perfection. It was neatly folded into a triangle shape so it fits onto the plate. Coconut, tomato, and peanut chatni is served on the side. Sambhar is also on the side. Chatnis are perfectly made. Sambhar is delicious, with clearly freshly ground spices. Service was prompt, efficient, and extremely friendly. It's the sort of warm welcome you'd get in a South Indian home. People make sure that you're comfortably seated. The make sure that your water glass doesn't sit empty. They notice if you drop a fork or knife by accident, and arrive with a fresh one (because the cutlery is SERIOUS business, and makes a big sound when it drops on the ground). More than that, wait staff are knowledgeable about the food and drinks, and will make suggestions either to you if you're unsure, or to the kitchen to adjust the spice level for your needs. They see to it that you're loving all your food and having a fun time. Genuinely, the meal was pricey, but we had an extremely delicious meal that filled up our stomachs and souls with comfort. We had to waddle back to the hotel afterwards. Yes, you're going to spend a good chunk of change when you're there. However, if you need a place to have a dinner for special occasions, this is the place to go. This is not the typical Indian restaurant with food sat under a heat lamp, drying out the whole time. This isn't a bunch of strong smells lingering the dining room, or coming out of the kitchen. The place is kept spotlessly clean, so that any aromas you're getting are only from the food in front of you. This is Indian food elevated, and given the respect that it deserves. It's how Indian food should be enjoyed: with a reverence for the ingredients, and attention to detail. That said, our appetiser, 2 mains, a bottle of wine, and tax and 20% tip came to like $180 give or take. For the experience we had, I'd say that the money was good value.

Between ordering our food to getting the one appetizer (which was a skewer of 4 salmon pieces for $43!!!) was about 30 minutes. From appetizer to mains was another 45. We were not offered water refills at any time. And our waiters was usually nowhere to be seen. To get the check was another 15. When we commented we were told twice "sorry - we're just very busy tonight" When it was a small, cozy place, this Fs were much better.

We stumbled across Sura and managed to grab a reservation literally fifteen minutes before arriving. Good thing we did, because the place was packed, which was surprising for Christmas Eve and a good sign that others had the same idea. From the moment we walked in, the space stood out. The entrance features a floor-to-ceiling garden wall that immediately sets the tone. Inside, the decor is moody in the best way, warm lighting, a beautiful back bar, and a dining room that feels stylish without being pretentious. The food was excellent and the drinks were just as good. Bold, comforting flavors that felt perfect for the weather and the time of year. Everything we ordered hit, and we would absolutely return just for the menu alone. The only thing that kept this from being a five-star visit was the service. While not bad, it felt a bit less engaged than the rest of the experience, and we were not informed that a 21% gratuity was already included for our party of four, which would have been appreciated upfront. That said, the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience easily outweigh that hiccup. If you are downtown, especially during the holidays or after exploring the Christmas market, Sura is a great place to warm up, enjoy a drink, and settle in.

You can order online for takeout and pay when you walk in, which I really appreciate. I was looking for some standard comfort food, and ordered the garlic naan, butter chicken, lamb saag, and samosa chaat. Every dish I would order again without hesitation. As other reviewers have mentioned, the samosa chaat is an absolute MUST order and a total steal at less than $6. The butter chicken is tender and indulgent as can be, and the saag dish could feed a family of 5. I loved the lamb but would also try this with chicken or the classic paneer in the future. Naan was great for takeout (folded in a parchment paper then foil) and I would order two if you're more than two people. Large portions of basmati rice are complimentary with entree. Curry Leaf is a BYO and the inside is pretty bare bones, so not a place you would go for ambiance - a few tables if you want to sit and enjoy your meal. The bulk of their business is clearly takeout, and the staff was so warm and helpful when I showed up to grab my order. This is dangerously close to my home and rehearsal spaces, so I know I'll be back time and time again for that delicious chaat and other great looking dishes on the menu. Add it to your rotation! After craving for Tandoori chicken, I came here with a group of friends for an early dinner today…read more I must say that the dish was nothing short of amazing since the piping hot chicken pieces served on the sizzling plate was exactly what I wanted. The other dishes our table also ordered include Gobi Manchurian, Chapati Murg Tikk, Murg Adraki, garlic naan, onion naan, butter naan, butter chicken, Malai kofta, and Lachha Paratha. While I loved everything, butter chicken was my favorite. Butter naan was also melt-in-your-mouth good, and I simply couldn't get enough of it. What also tops the experience overall was the Mango Lassi drink. For some reason, I never got to try this drink until today. At the first sip, I couldn't believe how good it was. I soooo loved this slightly sweet, tangy, and aromatically wonderful mango drink so much that I must have more of it at the next chance I get. Service here is no frills yet adequate and professional. Our server was helpful in catering to our needy requests (we had to return butter chicken back initially since it was too spicy), and he definitely ran the show solo as he's the only one who manned the dining area while we were there with another table today. Since the place is a bit small and cozy, I liked that it provided an intimate setting for a get-together with friends or family. I wouldn't mind returning to Saffron to try out more of their other dishes soon.

We found parking in a lot right beside the building. The staff was friendly and patient with my questions. I appreciated that they had spice levels since we had a mix of people wanting their food mild and spicy. The buffet looked appealing and the seating areas were clean. The inside was nice and pretty big. I imagine they are packed during busier times. We were taking our order to go, but the buffet looks like a good time. We ordered Veggie Samosas, Paneer Makhni - cheese cubes cooked in a tomato sauce with butter [gluten-free], mild and spicy Butter Chicken (Makhni) tender pieces of chicken tandoori cooked in a fresh tomato sauce with butter [gluten-free] and Chicken Tandoori half chicken marinated in yogurt and herbs, then barbecued [gluten-free]. Some plain naan and for dessert Gulab Jamun home-made milk-balls dipped in honey syrup. I really enjoyed the flavors of the spicy Chicken Makhni. The meat was tender and the tomato sauce had a range of spices that made it hard to say when! The chicken tandoori had nice flavors too, but the meat was a tad dry. The Paneer was good, but the star of the show was the Chicken Makhni. Throw some rice and mint chutney in with the chicken makhni and naan .... Happiness .... I would love to return to try a Biryani. The Gulab Jamun was a miss. It lacked the syrup flavor I'm used to. The pricing was around $33 per person for what we ordered. There were leftovers. I would recommend ordering ahead as the wait time was a bit long. Everyone was stuffed and happy that we tried New Delhi. I'd repeat more often if I lived in the area.

Such a nice contrast from the creaminess of the chicken korma, and made for a lighter bite. Wish they had more paneer in it - so yum!! Love a chewy firm tofu like block of cheese. Both entrees come with rice for free!! The Kashmiri naan was absolutely INSANE!! I've never had it, and didn't realize how amazing naan could taste.
