Great food, friendly service, and an aesthetic interior! If you've been a vegetarian/vegan in Philly for quite some time, you may remember (and mourn) Govindas. Now, owned by family members of Govindas' owners, a new Mumbai-inspired cafe is open in the same location. Not only is it incredible to see the spot revitalized, but Govindas' iconic plant-based chicken cheesesteak is on the menu. We tried it and it was fantastic! We also ordered the Kofta Sub and the popcorn samosas, both of which were delicious. Prices were fairly reasonable too! I can't wait to come back and try their matcha and other items on the menu.

Loved the interior decor and wall design! We came for dinner as a group even though most of us were not vegan or vegetarian. The cheesesteak was flavorful and delicious - it is very large though and I could not finish it. Popcorn samosas were great as well. Service was a little slow while we were there and they were out of certain items on their menu but we thoroughly enjoyed the food we had.

The chai house Philly has been waiting for! The cardamom chai with saffron syrup was so comforting. The folks at the counter were also very hospitable and kind.

Samosa Salad: smashed samosas on a bed of chickpeas and greens. Delicious!

Tofu Bahn Mi (5/5) - I really liked the breading on the tofu, the pickled daikon/carrots had the perfect bite and there was a kick in something, I don't think it was just the jalapeno peppers though The Vietnamese Coffee with Salt Foam and Cream Cheese Foam were excellent and strong. I really appreciated how the foam didn't just dissipate into the drink, it had some thickness to it.

The churro pancakes were robust, flavorful, and lightly sweetened. My son loved them. My daughter had the bỏ né (grilled beef skillet). The bún riêu was solid... it was large sized, flavorful, and even included short ribs. I will definitely get it again. My wife got grilled pork banh mi (birria tacos for the table) and she was satisfied with both dishes. The ambiance was nice with decent lighting and a good amount of seating for the brunch/lunch crowd. We loved the pictures of Vietnam on the walls. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We look forward to being a recurring patron for years to come.

We have eaten at the high tops, in the main dining room, and at the tables extending into The Harper lobby, and each area feels like part of the same unified experience. The colors and lighting inside are especially warm and inviting, giving the room a glow that feels cozy and uplifting, especially during a Philadelphia winter. Food remains at the center of the experience, and my order is always the Jerusalem bagel with egg and cheese. On the rare occasions when turkey bacon appears, I add it as a welcome delicacy and a little extra sustenance, though the bagel is already delicious on its own. The cinnamon sugar kubaneh, the chocolate chip cookie, and the Bloody Mary are excellent. K'Far has also expanded its selection of bowls and salads since we ate here most regularly, and they look consistent with the quality of everything else. These days, a full breakfast here does not always fit within our budget, but I still make a point of stopping in for OX Coffee, which is delicious and, happily, roasted in Philadelphia. The Yemenite latte is another distinctive pleasure, aromatic and satisfying without feeling like a novelty created merely for attention. The staff is consistently charming, welcoming, and composed, and the team's continuity and energy suggest that people genuinely enjoy working here. When our budget allows, I will absolutely return to eat. Perhaps the clearest expression of K'Far's brilliance arrives in one memory from a cold, radiantly sunny Saturday, when "Inspector Norse" by the Norwegian producer Todd Terje comes through the speakers as the restaurant buzzes around us. The track, the worldly crowd, and the aroma from the kitchen create the elusive feeling Steve Cook and Mike Solomonov understand so well: people go out to eat because they want to feel seen and be briefly transported into a more vivid version of life. I already love K'Far and The Hoxton as separate brands, so seeing them come together at The Hoxton in Williamsburg feels like an unusually natural and exciting partnership. Creating this kind of social magnetism inside a bakery and café is a subtle achievement, and Philadelphia is richer for having a place with this much flavor, warmth, and personality.
