I'd been dealing with excruciating tooth pain for months, taking way too much Advil to function. I didn't have dental insurance, and after two major family losses, getting the pain checked hadn't been a priority. Eventually, the pain and Advil-induced nausea became unbearable. I made an appointment here after another dentist suggested a root canal, but didn't offer sedation. At this office, the root canal was "confirmed," but I was told I'd have to pay the full 4K up front just to schedule it--and the earliest appointment was still a month away. I explained that I couldn't keep taking Advil and needed something else for pain relief. Instead, they prescribed even stronger ibuprofen and steroids. When I reiterated that I literally couldn't take any more ibuprofen--or any NSAID--because my stomach lining needed time to heal, the dentist became condescending and dismissive. He left me feeling so stupid that I genuinely started to believe I was just being dramatic, which he all but said outright. Still, I paid the 4K and booked the appointment because I felt trapped and desperate. But when I got home, I called my stepdad, who's a PharmD. He was stunned by what I described and assured me I wasn't crazy. He also explained that while steroids can be helpful alongside a proper pain reliever, they're essentially useless on their own. Steroids reduce inflammation that can contribute to pain, but if the pain itself isn't being treated--especially nerve pain--they won't do much of anything. That conversation snapped things into focus. I called the office, canceled the procedure, got my money back, and found a multidisciplinary practice that saw me the very next day. Turns out my tooth was cracked vertically, so severely that a root canal wouldn't have fixed the underlying issue. I had the tooth extracted and replaced with an implant at a different multi-disciplinary practice and paid not much more than what I was going to have to pay for just the root canal. Strongly do not recommend going here. Side note: For anyone needing dental work done, find a place you trust that offers all services, not just root canals. That way, the recommendation and procedure align with what you need, versus what they can offer.

A Cautionary Story -- What I Wish I'd Known Before My Breast Augmentation…read more In 2022, I finally decided to get my breast augmentation -- something I had dreamed about for years. I did my research carefully and chose this clinic because the surgeon promoted a "unique technique" that supposedly eliminates the need for a post-surgical compression bra during recovery. That promise was a huge part of why I trusted him with my body. At first, everything seemed fine. But once the swelling settled and I began to really look at my results, I noticed something was off. My left breast had shifted far to the side -- so much that when I lie flat, it literally slides toward the outer edge of my body. Standing up without a bra, my breasts sit noticeably wide apart. When I put on a bra and pull them together, I love the look. But without it, the symmetry and shape are disappointing -- and completely opposite of what I was told to expect. When I shared my concern during my final follow-up, the surgeon brushed it off with, "Side boob is a good look." Maybe for some women it is, but not when one breast has migrated halfway toward my armpit. That's not style -- that's structure gone wrong. I waited a few years to be sure my body had healed before reaching out again, hoping for an honest conversation about possible correction. Instead, I was told I'd have to pay $190 just for a consultation -- and that they don't offer complimentary post-surgery implant checks, even years later. I had assumed they would at least verify that the implants were still properly positioned and safe. For context, most women are required to wear a post-surgical compression bra (a supportive medical garment that holds the implants in place and helps the chest heal evenly). I wasn't asked to wear one because the surgeon claimed his "no-bra recovery method" made it unnecessary. In hindsight, I wish I had worn one anyway -- it might have prevented my outcome.

I thought I had found my doctor after reading the raving reviews and looking at the before and after gallery. When I initially called to make an appointment, Espirt's phones were down. I filled out an online form on their website and got a call back later that day. The woman on the phone was pleasant and scheduled me in. All was good until she asked for the $200 consultation fee - the most expensive fee of any of the other doctors I researched and consulted. The day of my consultation I get a phone call from the receptionist informing me that their 3D imaging is down and I could either reschedule or come in regardless and not get the imaging. I wanted to get the imaging, especially at the $200 consultation fee price, so I rescheduled. The day of my rescheduled consultation I get another phone call from the receptionist saying again that their 3d imaging is down and I can reschedule or come in. I'm a busy mom of two young kids, as any mother knows, it's tough enough to schedule appointments yet alone rescheduling. I decided to keep the appointment and meet with Dr. Connall. Day of my consultation I was greeted by a friendly receptionist. I filled out some paperwork and a nurse brought me back to the consultation room. The nurse was very warm and pleasant (the best interaction I had that day). Dr. Connall was professional and thorough during the consultation and answered my questions however, of all the doctors I've seen he was the only one that recommended a small implant with fat grafting - the cost of two procedures instead of one. Additionally, said I could come in again a year down the road and increase my breast size with another procedure. So, instead of one standard breast augmentation I was looking at 3 to get my desired results. Initially, I liked the idea of fat grafting as I do have some fat tissue to lose, but hindsight I feel like it was an up-sale tactic with the 3 procedures. After the consultation, I was brought into the scheduling room to book surgery. I was interested in getting on the schedule to then go home and talk it over with my husband. I was not told there was a $250 surgery scheduling fee, as my card was charged that same day. So now I'm 450 with Espirt with no 3d imaging and a procedure I didn't intend on getting. I decided to continue with the surgery, as i was excited to finally get my breasts done. On the day of the pre op appointment, I met with a nurse first and as she was going over my notes, she stated I was getting implants and liposuction (not fat grafting). I corrected her and said Dr Connall wanted to do fat grafting in addition to the implant. Another red flag that my surgery was incorrectly written in my file. This led to me having to now get a mammogram because of my age - this was NOT mentioned to me during the consultation by Dr Connall, the nurse or the scheduling secretary. Because of my age, my insurance won't cover a mammogram and it would be an additional 300-500 out of pocket. At this point, I get a huge rush of anxiety. I would not have scheduled the surgery had I'd known I'd have to get a mammogram. There were too many red flags, too chaotic, unorganized, non transparent and sneaky that I decided not to move forward with the surgery. Ultimately, I want to feel safe with the doctor and staff when I'm going under on anesthesia. I want to feel confident that I'm safe, I'll attain my desired results and I want to feel more than I'm just a monetary value. Due to my concerns listed above, we asked for at least my $250, as there was no way I felt safe or valued to go under the knife with them. Dr. Connall refused to refund the $250. He offered to pay for the mammogram, but we explained to him all the red flags and he didn't budge. Dr. Connall refusing to at least refund the $250 is so telling of his character and the Espirt practice. I wouldn't recommend Espirt or Dr. Connall and staff to anyone. I would run far in another direction, as there are competent and compassionate surgeons in the area. Save yourself the $200 consultation fee and just cross this doctor off your list. Best of luck to you reading this review in search of a plastic surgeon!

Their office is discriminatory towards their OHP clients and is in general horribly unprofessional. Rachel did let me know in a very ugly tone (likely because most people who qualify for OHP can't pay) that if I wanted to pay cash he could be seen. They blamed OHP because the day they booked my son is not a day they have a contracted dr working. How is that OHP's fault? Our kids qualify because of being adopted. If we were unable to pay to go elsewhere we would be stuck being treated like garbage. For all those who can't afford it too bad so sad apparently! Disgusting!!!!! Also, during our visit today Rachel and another front desk person thought discussing birth control, the pullout method and more was appropriate where the waiting area could hear. While those things in themselves are not inappropriate it certainly isn't professional. RUN don't walk in the other direction! This place is horrible!!!!!

Absolutely terrible billing practices. Don't fall for Dr. Faye Johnson's bubbly personality, she'll…read morebill you for every little thing. My son went in for an asthma check up and she spotted he had splinters. She said we'll take care of that as if she was doing us a favor. She plucked out the splinters and charged $414 for splinter removal (CPT code 10120*) which falls into the surgical category and hits our deductible and we pay out of pocket as we haven't hit our deductible. The splinter was sticking out of the skin and any parent with tweezers could have done it. No incision was made nor was it documented and this shouldn't even been coded other than E/M. This borders on up-coding fraud or pure incompetence (a simple plucking of a splinter billed as a surgical procedure). Absolutely absurd. Don't trust Dr. Faye Johnson or Westside Pediatrics, they just look for things to bill you, not the well being of your child. * The code used here is for when the splinter is so deep into the subcutaneous tissue that the physician would need to perform an incision to ensure the full body of the splinter is completely removed. Please do your own due diligence and research this as there are plenty of sources that support this. OUR EXPERIENCE TO RESOLVE THIS: I called on August 7th and explained what happened with the office manager Tonya. She said she'll speak with Dr. Johnson and won't make any promises but she's not sure she can look past this as the procedure was already done. She said she'll get back to me. I hadn't heard from Tonya so I called August 9th to get an update. She had a meeting in the morning and was unavailable. Asked the receptionist when would she be available she said in the afternoon. I called at 1:30pm the receptionist said she wasn't in. I said I called this morning and she was supposedly in a meeting so she was in. The receptionist corrected and said she left for the day. I call back on Monday August 12th, receptionist said she is doing training as they have a new EMR system. Then strictly said Tonya won't be available until Wednesday and she'll reach out to you then. I waited all day Wednesday and didn't receive a call from Tonya. I call on Thursday August 15th, the receptionist once again says she's really busy and that Tonya will call me. Basically don't call until she calls me. I finally just showed up in the office to resolve the matter. She actually openly admitted to not knowing the code so she tried Googling it. When all the search results clearly stated "incision" for the code and didn't result the narrative she wanted, she stopped searching. I had sources I had found while she was searching but Tonya had no interest in listening to me read proper use of the CPT 10120 off Google. Then she tried to argue the code was used properly because skin had to be removed with the tweezers hence it's considered an incision. At this point she's already dug her heels in this matter and wanted me to think the use of tweezers counts as an incision. I'd like to point out the medical record makes no note of skin being removed with tweezers so her whole point is moot. At this point neither of us were budging from our position so she conceded to waive the procedure and ending our patient practice relationship. If it isn't obvious, there was no way my family would go back anyways. I do hope Dr. Johnson, Tonya and Westside Pediatrics learn from my family's experience and how awful and painful this was for us to get resolved. Nine days, not a single call back and took an in office visit to resolve. Ethically and morally a splinter removed with tweezers doesn't justify hundreds of dollars. Things that I learned from this experience that could help other patients/families who get stuck in this position. 1) Patients have rights and don't have to eat whatever bill the medical provider gives you. Most "good" medical providers will work with you and don't want to deal with the hassle of complaints to the insurance or other authorities. 2) Check medical records immediately and ensure accuracy as that is the only ground you have to stand on. We found discrepancies in the record that was misinterpreted and could have been used against us. Doctors and scribes are humans not stenographers. They can make a mistake. Note Dr. Johnson uses a video conference scribe to take notes and is not there in person. 3) Check CPT codes used in the medical record and make sure the record supports the use of that CPT code. 4) Don't call billing, they're useless to deal with. They have no authority to reverse anything. They're there to just get yelled at and process whatever the provider asks them to do. Call the office manager or provider you saw to get it resolved. 5) Lastly, ALWAYS ask the provider if you'll be billed before they touch your child for any procedure. Even a band aid they might find a way to charge you. Anything skin, removal of skin, breaking the skin, picking a scab is considered surgical.
