This has been the Mexican spot where I'd get my nachos... and it's been quite awhile. They've changed. The chips were different, the queso was off but I did have a huge amount of meat - chicken. Typically the chips are thin, light and crisp but these were coarse and the queso was not as flavorful or cheesy. The chicken was about the same. Definitely get a nice portion size. I visit for a quick lunch fairly often. I also pickup dinner to go quite a bit too. Either way, the service is always pretty quick. Dining in is nice. The vibe is fun. It's very California. When I first started coming to TT I'd always get the KC Burrito. I still do from time to time, but now I mix it up. I'm a huge fan of the crunchy taco. It's pretty basic compared to the variety of tacos on the menu but I the standard crunchy taco is one my favorites around, especially when you add their house salsas. For the house salsas I always get the hottest. Sometimes you'll get a batch that'll make you sweat but other times the hottest salsa isn't a miserable level of spice. It's always really good. Visited midweek for lunch and was thrilled to see so many other locals supporting our neighborhood taco joint! This was the second time I had eaten here and was still just as impressed as last time. I ordered two carnita tacos and chips and guac for lunch. I didn't get my chips with my order. I normally like the food here. It was not very good today. It tasted like the carnita meat had a hint of a sweetness to it and was exceptionally greasy. My corn tortilla was so soggy from the grease I just ended up throwing one of my tacos away. So glad I gave this place a try! I've driven by the pick up window so many times, and there's always people waiting for orders - now I see why! They're doing take out and online orders right now. It was super easy to place the order online, and we picked up the order at the pick up window less than 30 mins later. Since this place is located right on 39th street, parking for pick up is a little challenging, but we can always find parking on side streets that's reasonably close. I got 4 tacos: abuela pastor, tempura shrimp, Korean beef, and Thai fried chicken. They were all delicious and traveled pretty well in the to go container. My roommate said the jackfruit taco was delicious, and she also enjoyed the esquite. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of vegetarian options! Overall really great food! Tiki Taco is definitely an ideal summer spot - there's a spacious patio with several umbrellaed round picnic tables. There's also indoor seating but it appears more limited - a few tables and less than a dozen seats along the bar.  All the tables were very clean.   There's a counter/window inside to order at, and your food and drink is delivered to your table.  While you don't have a waiter/waitress there was always staff around to grab you a straw or anything you might need.    To eat, I ordered the "Vegan Bowl" with impossible meat (there was also the option to get BBQ jackfruit or grilled mushrooms), rice, black beans, cabbage, lettuce, guacamole, tomato, onion, cilantro, and jalapenos. To drink, I ordered a Paloma which was pretty good but the best part was the fun pineapple shaped glass it was served in.   Overall, good vibes, good food - excited to return to try another vegan option. read more

Hard to beat a 70° night on a comfy patio, listening to good live music (Wednesdays) with tasty food! Brian's fave was the Dripping Birria taco. Chris' was the super stuffed Surf n Turf Burrito (crispy shrimp, chopped beef, fries, etc). Susannah's was the street corn (which was a close second for me too). Mine was the loaded Tiki Fries! Curly fries covered in queso and queso fresco with fresh cilantro and pico on top. I also really liked the Korean Beef taco (exactly the flavor fusion I wanted) and my hot honey cocktail: Pineapple Fuego! And we ALL liked the Chocolate Dipped Dessert Taco... with cinnamon-horchata-esque ice cream. Oh my lanta! Brian really liked the quesadilla with chorizo, and with the sour cream it was a great bite, there were just bigger winners on the table for me. The Thai Fried Chicken Taco was good when I got a bite with a hearty piece of chicken in it (some bites were all breading) but could have used a bit more sauce. I think Chris felt the same about his Sweet Chili Shrimp Taco. The queso and chips were delish, but I think it's best show cased in the Tiki Fries. We over ordered as usual, but we didn't leave a morsel on the table. And we had friendly, happy, and helpful service whether at the bar or at the table. Foodies were fans of Tiki Taco! read more

Tiki Taco has some of my favorite specialty tacos and burritos in town. I always get some queso and it's pretty good. It's melty cheese with chips so what's not to like? The crunchy beef taco is good and is like fancy TB. The Baja shrimp taco is also tasty as well as the Thai fried chicken taco and the Korean beef taco. The avocado taco is a great choice for non meat eaters. However, my absolute favorite is the chicken jerk taco. It's super flavorful and I always order at least one and then kick myself for not ordering more for later! The surf and Turf burrito is my households favorite. It's huge and filled with all sorts of yummy stuff. And the KC burrito is also a tasty option. Both have fries in them which is a pretty unique thing for tiki taco and let's them stand out. On my last visit, I tried the new Nashville hot chicken burrito. It wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite and I found myself wishing for another chicken jerk taco. I'm pretty sure the jerk seasoning has crack in it because the cravings are real! read more

I've just had to go orders from Tiki Taco a couple of times. Both times they have been excellent. I'm from Austin Texas where good Mexican food is on every corner.
