I got the highly recommended burnt-ends in pork and beef. The meat was mostly tender. My favoriate was actually the butter garlic broccoli and carrot cake. The carrot cake was warm and sweet. The broccoli was delicious with the garlic butter. My friend got the 2 meats combo and he thought the sausage was overly salty. I would like to try the ribs next time. Service was excellent. I also loved their spicy bbq sauce. It had acid, sugar and salt and a hint of bitterness which made it taste really interesting and vibrant. The interior had high-ceiling and carried the ambiance of a steakhouse. I highly recommend making a reservation. We had a 8pm reservation and there were still people waiting outside.

Jack Stack is a really cool restaurant in downtown Kansas City with fantastic ambiance. This was my second time visiting, and I'm glad I gave it another shot. The first time I came (about two years ago), I left a little disappointed because I had really high expectations and the brisket was slightly dry. Luckily, that seems like it was just an outlier. This time around, I came with a group of about 20 people and the service was excellent. Angela our server did a great job keeping up with a table that big--constantly refilling waters and checking in regularly, which is not easy with a group our size. The Stack sandwich is fantastic. The flavors all work really well together and make for a really satisfying BBQ sandwich. The fries were also very crispy and pair perfectly with their barbecue sauce. The real secret of the meal, though, is the sweet tea. They have multiple flavors (including white peach), and they are so good. Honestly, it might be the best sweet tea you've ever had. It's flavorful without being overly sweet, and the different flavors make it stand out from the usual restaurant tea. Overall, this is a must-visit when you're in KC.

The service was very quick. We were seated right away by the bar. The server was there almost instantly. Our drinks came right out, and not even 5 min later our delicious KC bbq combo came out. The cheesy potato bake is the most delicious things to every touch my lips. And the melt in your mouth brisket was to die for. The burnt ends my daughter got were juicy and flavorful. The bbq sauce was on point and we were in and out in under 45 minutes. My favorite kind of dinning experience. Absolutely love it and will be back everytime we're visiting.

Jack Stack BBQ is one the most sought after restaurants in KC. It was evident when we walked in and the place was packed. It was almost a struggle to find a parking spot in the lot. Luckily we had made reservation weeks ahead, so we got a table right away without waiting. The interior was super nice, almost like a wooden farmhouse. There were multiple bars, both were full with guests. There was also private room where a group was hosting an event. The menu had a lot of exciting bbq items alongside appetizers, soups and salads. First we order the bbq smoked chicken that came with fries. The chicken was excellent with such delicious flavor on the brown bbq skin. We also ordered the KC Combo with three picks that were beef brisket, beef burnt ends (suggested by our waiter) and lamb ribs. I started with lamb ribs and the taste was so good, I won't forget it for a long time. The tender meat was just falling off the bone. Incredibly rich seasoning and flavor. Then I tried the beef ones and I was equally impressed. Both brisket and burnt ends were top quality. All of them had good portion for two adults. The sides of broccoli and coleslaw were very good as well. We got a sundae for dessert and it was delicious as well. Our server such a pro. He was flawlessly managing multiple tables. All the dishes were served within a short time. I loved the handmade Cranberry Mint Fritz mocktail too. The prices of the items were relatively low. I was pleasantly surprised to see the check total being under $70 despite the feast we had. Definitely a must go place to try out the KC's famous bbq.

I honestly thought we were not gonna finish any meat but the whole plate was cleaned! We got combo of 3, lamb, beef burnt end and prime crown beef + kid's bbq chicken. All the meats are tender juicy literally fall apart while you pick it with forks. I love the burnt end the most. Reservation is highly recommend. It's very popular. The service is great. The staff is nice friendly attentive. The decoration gives beer garden vibes. Relaxing, people chatting with drinks and good meat.

The lamb ribs get them and thank me later. So seasoned so flavorful so delicious. Service by Brittany was amazing she is so attentive and so sweet she made my birthday much better. The ambiance is very cute and reminds me of a log cabin or train house. I would highly recommend the pick your own platter for lunch it was delicious. Thanks for making my trip to KC memorable I will be back.

Had an awesome experience at Jack Stack Barbecue. The BBQ was seriously on point, and coming from Hawai'i, the value here is unreal. You get so much food for the price, we ended up taking most of it home lol. We ordered the Round Up and made some swaps, went with the beef brisket, beef burnt ends, sausage, and the crown prime beef rib. Everything was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The burnt ends were a standout, super tender with that perfect char. The mac and cheese was also solid and hit the spot. The ambience was great, nice balance of upscale and casual with a warm, inviting feel. It's the kind of place you can relax, enjoy good food, and not feel rushed. Service was great too. Our server (I think his name was Thoeun) was super friendly and took good care of us the whole time. Also have to mention the carrot cake... unreal. We're not even carrot cake people, but this one changed that. Highly recommend if you're ever in Kansas City.

From Chicago burbs. If we had BBQ like this I'd be 400lbs. Melts in your mouth good. Do yourself a favor and order The Crown Prime Beef Rib.

I'm back Jack Stack Barbecue is a place I don't think I could ever skip if I'm in Kansas City. I really like the way they do their brisketsmoky, tender, and full of flavor. We also had appetizers, including onion rings and mushrooms, and they were all very good. This is one of those spots where you can tell they know what they're doing with barbecue. The brisket was the star for me and was spot on. To top it off, they even gave me some of their sauces to take home, which I really appreciated. In my mind, a trip to Kansas City isn't complete without a stop at Jack's. That's a 5-star barbecue experience.

Jack Stack was my first stop of the Big 4 KC BBQ institutions. Of the four it is the fanciest, with the feel of a fancy steakhouse. Super high ceilings, a fancy fireplace it seems like a converted lodge waitstaff that were dressed better than I was. Despite the fancy environs, there really wasn't any pretension. Our server was friendly with me as a noob to KC barbecue in general and my first time here in general and because of him we went with the 'Cue for Two,' getting the beef, pork and sausage option that came with cheesy corn, slaw and baked beans as an accompaniment. The beef was burnt ends, and the pork was the belly cut, meats that I'm a fan off and Jack's didn't disappoint. There wasn't enough burnt ends, in my opinion but the bark was a little on the thin side. However, the pork belly was tender and tasty while the sausage was seasoned just right. The sides too weren't too shabby either, I usually think slaw is just a throwaway side, literally something to toss out but it was a little sweet and light, not just a soulless glop. Likewise, the beans weren't overly sweet but the right blend of sweet and savory. Top that with their strawberry lemonade and it was a great meal.

I love the vibe of this location. We took our daughter here for dinner and made a reservation so we wouldn't have to wait. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered one of their family-style dinners, and it was delicious.

I was anticipating my return to Jack Stack before I even left...and not for reasons you may think! If you are staying in the crown center area it's definitely worth a visit. Jack stack feels like an upscale BBQ experience. The inside is very spacious and the service was fast! I would like to acknowledge that the pork burnt ends were enjoyable and I'd get them again, but the pork ribs were pretty mid. They were definitely tender and fell off the bone but I found them lackluster. HOWEVER I came here to rave about the appetizers!!! In first place is the pulled pork Mac followed by the onion rings and then the jalapeño cornbread. Wow! I could have only had appetizers and left extremely happy. There are a few other things on the menu I would be interested in trying so I will be back.

Beef and Sausage Burnt Ends and Cheesy Corn Bake

Now here's something you don't hear: Slap's BBQ's burnt ends disappointed me so much that I needed a redo. Jonathan Bender at Museum of BBQ kindly recommended Jack Stack and I was not disappointed. I ordered the beef and sausage burnt ends off the Weekday Lunch Specials, plus the Cheesy Corn Bake also at Jonathan's suggestion. I had to limit myself just a little bit on the already meat-heavy vacation. Thankfully I had just enough room for these two dishes. The burnt ends were so flavorful and tender. My favorite would be the beef burnt ends. I was told sausages are not a big thing to brag about in KC BBQ, but these were still good to me. The Cheesy Corn Bake was a side I had never seen before at a BBQ restaurant. A creamy concoction, I think it's a decent substitute for mac and cheese. Wish I had room for more meat, but this was a great introduction. I will be back for the food as well as the great service.

I almost rated this a 1 star. When I arrived, the place was nice and the young man handling front of house was amazing. I ordered a 3 meat plate to go as I had to be home for an appointment. I rushed inside, mouth watering, opened my box. Turkey looked good, pork belly looked good, the brisket... Straight TRASH. It wasn't even sliced. It looked like they scooped up the stringy bits left over from slicing and called it good. Needless to say I was pissed. The turkey was a hair dry, but flavorful. The pork belly burnt ends were good too. The brisket, which is king in KC que, ruined the whole, thing for me. The way the brisket was served, and it was dry of course, made me feel like they just thought "he's getting it to go, so who cares what he gets." Now as many of you who follow me know, I usually give a place a second chance and hope the experience is better the next time. Not this time. I was deeply insulted at what I got for my money. I may as well have gotten a Banquet TV dinner. Everything else seemed on point, but the star of the show was trash, it ruined the whole thing. So no, I will not be going back and this will NOT be on my list of reccomemds I often mention to people who travel to Kansa City. I truly wasted my money. Avoid this joint. There are MUCH better in the city.

While KC is known for their tomato based sauce AB's is known for their pork ribs and molasses based sauce. While Oak is popular in Texas, Hickory is the main wood used here to pair that sweetness with the molasses with a little oak to finish. As one of the most popular/famous BBQ joints in the area and maybe the country the line can be long at times, but generally not time consuming of a wait. Like alot of the big boys they have a great system of cooking and serving. Service is somewhere between big ticket and owner operated. Decor is still gas station with a smoke house, but they have some massive roittiserrie smokers using blast cyclinder design for efficiency. Their ribs are meaty, nice sweet bark, spicy sweet sauce, mellow oqk flavor. The open faced burnt ends are less candy and more charred nuggets, juicy, less unctuous as they grill it to finish. I found their turkey a little dry, could use a longer brine or even better twined to keep tight as the fibers tore too much on cutting making it shredded/shaved rather than sliced. Great sausage, thought I'd have liked some creativity as the smoke doesn't really accentuate it as much as it could if they had other flavors. I still prefer the Texas style brisket as the bark is more pronounced. They even have chicken tenders for the kids which are deep fried, a little overseasoned for kids (yes I had to try it). Baked beans were sweet, thick, rich on the molasses and smoke, but at this point its a bean jam and a little rich. Dirty rice which i thought was a southern thing was fluffy, aromatic, umami, a true side dish. Potato salad was a little dry, potatos were sized all over the place so some were overcooked and some closer to raw. Go casserole next time or get the cheesey corn, but you can't do both, it's too much. The onion rings were crunchy and sweet and went with their sauce amazing. The fries aren't an afterthought and complimentary to their other non brisket/ribs items. Prices are avctually below average, service is quite good, but to me being an OG it really has changed under the new management. I'm not sure i'll need to come here again as this was my 2nd trip here and i'm not sure it's a must eat place anymore. After all the BBQ tours I've done I really do prefer Texas and SC styles and have found other KCBBQ spots that give a better representation of KCBBQ.

I give him the entire rundown and he says that he's seen that look on a man before [defeat is what I assume he meant]. He informs me that he is the General Manager and says to come with him - that he is going to hook us up. He takes us to the bar area and tells us to wait for a minute. A table opens-up...and he says this one is for you guys!!! No wait at all - the VIP treatment!!! We all sit down, still in disbelief of what was happening. As we are looking at the menu, here comes some free appetizers courtesy of Tyler Wigger. He did ask me what other places we stopped at. I gave him the list and he said "I bet none of them would do this for you". I can safely assume he was correct. The food was AMAZING...some of the best BBQ we have ever had!!! The service though, was top of the line - I have never had an experience like that in my entire life!!! We definitely enjoyed the VIP treatment!!! It was the experience of a lifetime and something we will never forget!!! Tyler gave me his business card and said to reach-out anytime we are in KC - that he would be sure to hook us up again!!! If you are ever in KC and hungry for BBQ...I highly recommend Jack Stack Barbecue at the Plaza!!!

Outstanding service, I was surprised it wasn't more busy because it was Mother's Day... nice…read moreupscale ambience.. Food is great as always, and never had the sprouts. They were a little on the salty side, but a nice combination with the burnt ends and then I would suggest getting a side of barbecue sauce if you like barbecue sauce like I do. Bartender was very accommodating and helpful for a nice drink selection for me and my friend

First time here, we got to the restaurant late bit was able to be seated…read more Food: I ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich which by the way was great. It's was big and came with fries and a pickle spear. The flavor was good and the portions was a little too much for me but I powered through and conquered that beast. The menu has some really good choices I would recommend trying a couple items to get a better feel of the overall menu choices. Staff: It was late maybe an 1hr before closing time and about 20 of is walked in together. Yup! We were totally those people. Sorry guys, but the staff welcomed it and seated us immediately by placing tables together it was great. Orders were placed and everyone got what they ordered so cheers to the staff on that one. The staff was talkative and thanked us on our way out for stopping by to eat. Great team at this establishment. Atmosphere: It was quiet and I think we were tue only ones in the restaurant but again it was late and last minute. The space definitely looks like sporting events and other televised events could be a really great place to hang out. I don't really know so it may be worth checking it out for yourself. Price: My BBQ pulled Pork Sandwich was about $17 and in my opinion that's really good especially considering the portion size of the sandwich and sides. Location: It's located in Kansas City Mousori in the gas light district.

Really like the new look, much nicer patios, expanded hours plus new cocktails, beer and N/A drinks…read morecoming to this member of the Joe's Kansas City BBQ family.
