I no longer feel that way any longer. Since new ownership took over I have felt like the only thing they care about is money. My 17 year old doge recently needed to be put down. As any animal lover would know, the decision was very difficult but necessary due to his age and not wanting him to go through any prolonged suffering. He was the sweetest boy. I called and explained what was going on and it was time to make that hard call. I was told the soonest they could see us was four days out and I knew waiting would cause more suffering than he needed to go through. I asked about pricing because I have heard from many members in my community that they had gotten expensive with the new ownership. To say the least, my jaw dropped when she gave me an general estimate to put down my very little dog. She explained the process quickly over the phone about all the approximate charges. I got off the phone, my heart broke and I cried. I will never recommend this clinic to anyone ever again. They care more about money than our furry family members. Please do not go here!

She is on a regular and routine surveillance regarding her health care. We called Pioneer Vet Hospital in Tillamook, OR. They told us that they would not allow us to purchase the prescription food unless they performed a physical examination, (which may include lab testing). So, the prescription is invalid in Tillamook at the Pioneer Vet hospital. It appears that this Veternarian hospital is more interested in making a 'buck', than the welfare of our senior citizen dog. Her medical records are readily available and up to date including vaccinations, thru a simple phone call. This should be a "Red Flag" warning to all who use or consider using Pioneer Vet Hospital in Tillamook, OR. I doubt the Hills Prescription corporation, makers of the Science Diet dog food is aware of this policy and if so, should be investigated by the FDA or other appropriate agencies. This is truly animal cruelty for the purpose profiteering, Only the dog suffers! You folks are discussing and get a strong minus five from me!!! PS. We found another place who accepts our valid prescription, and was amazed when they heard this story.

We've had a couple of experiences, the most recent involving undiagnosed tumors in our cat, that force me to conclude they either are not very thorough, don't know when to refer to a specialist, or presume that their client doesn't want to pay for the additional expense of treatment. Our cat had 6 months worth of symptoms including urine in the blood that should have been cause for referral. The diagnosis of Feline Urinary Syndrome was the conclusion but it was the wrong one. Two tumors that could have been treated if caught earlier. If you have a really sick animal go elsewhere. Other experiences with Pioneer indicate a great deal of empathy and kindness from Dr. Henkel and others at Pioneer, but not a lot of good technical knowledge. Or at least the humility to admit that we should get a second opinion. Tillamook is pretty sad case, in general, of less than ideal economic conditions and less than fully competent vets. Better to drive a few miles and get better care.

The receptionist confirmed they would see my dog. I checked in 15 minutes later, explained the situation, and filled out the questionnaire. I waited one hour before triage and they let me know there was no veterinarian in-house. I would be waiting at least an additional 4 hours to see a vet if I chose to stay. 24/7 emergency coverage is not guaranteed at this location.

We were in a panic being away from home, and we called North Coast. They had us bring her right in. They took an x-ray and she had two large tumors in her belly. We had to let her go. While our heart is so broken, there will never be enough words to thank the clinic for making such a painful loss as loving and peaceful as possible.

Since specialists cannot serve as a primary veterinarian, and Cornell Road Vet clinic stated on their website they were taking new patients, I read about their specific Veterinarians and found that one whose profile highlighted an interest in internal medicine, which would be helpful in our specific case. When I first called, I asked to schedule directly with that veterinarian. I was told that they typically did not see new patient evaluations, but that I could make my first appointment and establish care with another doctor and potentially switch later. Since I had already done my research and wanted a veterinarian who would be comfortable collaborating with my puppy's specialist, that solution didn't make much sense to me. I was told that my request would be discussed with the specific veterinarian I wanted to see my pup and that someone would get back to me regarding scheduling. Unfortunately, no one ever followed up. After two weeks of hearing nothing, I had to call the clinic myself to get an update. During that call, I had to re-explain my puppy's medical history and the reason for my request all over again. The whole conversation was a bit disorganized but to that staff member's credit, she did follow through and spoke with the veterinarian that same day. I received a call within a few hours informing me that they would not be taking my puppy as a patient. What was most frustrating was not the decision itself but the lack of communication and the wasted time. Had someone simply informed me of that decision when I first called, or even followed up within a reasonable timeframe, I could have spent those two weeks finding another primary care veterinarian willing to work with a dog who has ongoing medical needs. I was also confused because the clinic's website indicates that they are accepting new patients, which creates an expectation that you can establish care there but instead, I spent two weeks waiting for an answer that never came until I initiated a follow-up myself only to find out they would not schedule us.
