This is an A+ property, including the experience of communicating with Susy, the owner. Location is superb, just across the road from an excellent beach and a very short drive into Pacific City for meals or supplies. We visited several beaches along the coast, but ended up liking the one across the street from the house best. The house is FANTASTIC! Susy has thought of every last thing her guests might need, and I've never seen a rental kitchen as well appointed as this one. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking some family meals, and everything we needed was there. I mentioned to Susy ahead of time that we wanted to use the ice cream maker, and she even had the bowl part of the machine waiting for us in the freezer, ready to go when we arrived. Susy provides a great selection of books, movies and games, which kept our 5-year-old busy as a bee. While she preferred to sleep in the main house with us, she LOVED the bunk house! She loved using the cubbies to sort/store all of her things, and had so much fun playing and reading there. The beds, pillows and furniture are all incredibly comfortable and we all slept great. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and we spent so much time sitting outside in the beautiful garden area between the house and the bunk house. We also spent time in the little sitting area in the miniature forest behind the house. One of the small things I really appreciated inside the house was all the lighting choices, including dimmer switches on many of the fixtures. Lighting is important to creating the mood you want, and Susy even had that covered! Truly, we never managed to think of a single thing we wished was done differently, or a single thing that was missing from our experience in this wonderful house--other than wishing it was cold enough for a fire in the fireplace, which would have been amazing! Susy is a pure delight to deal with, which is the icing on a beautiful cake. You only have to talk with her once--and then see how the house is appointed--to know how much she cares about her guests. One way her care is shown is by the labeled cabinets and notes posted all over the house with information you might want. It's like Susy has anticipated what questions guests may have, and has proactively answered them by posting notes all around. An unexpected joy was reading through the years of guest book entries, which turned out to be a hilarious source of entertainment our first night in the house. Thanks for leaving those out, Susy! In summary, I've stayed in lots of beach houses in my day, but this is hands down the nicest, most well appointed, most beautiful of them all. And the way Susy handles her business is top notch. You can't go wrong by choosing to rent this wonderful house. My wish is that every guest who is lucky enough to stay here takes the same great care of this house as Susy does. This is for the Guardenia Street house : I can give this place my wholehearted commendation. It is EXACTLY as advertised, and then even better. Do NOT stay here if you desire "luxury digs" and fancy smanshy furnishings... DO stay here if you want somewhere that is quiet, interesting, and restorative. From the interesting book collection to the carefully chosen melange of artwork on the walls, the cottage just screams character and presence. The kitchen is the best stocked rental kitchen we have experienced, and we stay in a lot of places...the appliances and counters were a "nearly home" experience. The bathroom is nice, even though it is very small...it got the job done admirably. We did not use the small bedroom, but it felt snug and homey. We DID use the master bedroom, which is almost like a small sunroom cottage in and of itself! The bed is HUGE, and very comfortable. We slept well. The internet service was the best service we have ever had at a rental, including when we have stayed in heavily urban environments. Should you be working online or utilizing the connection for entertainment (Netflix, Hulu, etc), you will LOVE the bandwidth and simplicity of connecting). You will NOT be watching broadcast TV, for there is literally no service there for that...so the TV (it IS HDMI compatible, so bring a cord if you want to connect to your device) is merely the display for either online streams or DVDs...we simply never turned the TV on, huddled around our computer when we wanted to watch a movie, or just listened to music all day. The walk to the beach is short and sweet, and very easy. This is the perfect place to "rest yourself" when you want your highlights to involve the beach and the local environment. We spent lots of time exploring both...and then upon return found the cabin the perfect place to rest and relax. The reservation process is simple, friendly, and trustworthy...the host is fabulous and straightforwardly accurate and honest. If you are disappointed with your stay here, then you are just one of those humans who is never happy with anything, because it was simply perfect. read more

This was the second stay at the Guardenia House for us. We enjoyed it so much the first time, we returned six months later. Our second stay was even better than the first. Good weather helped, but the house is what makes for a great vacation. It is the most relaxing pleasant place we have stayed on any coast. The owner has thought of everything, making the three days we were there pleasant and carefree. There are books, DVD's, games, WiFi, free telephone service, a complete kitchen, and much more. The place is very clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The back deck is great, a peaceful and beautiful structure. A short distance away is an outside table and bench. You can go there for lunch and listen to the birds. The beach is a short walk away. You do have to cross the main road, but that was never a problem for us and our dog. Yes, this is dog friendly and he had the time of his life. The beach is almost private feeling. There were no more than four or five people within sight during out time. We were there Monday through Thursday, so I can't speak to weekend use, but I bet it is light. The beach is clean, perfect for walking and wading, and beautiful in all directions. Food service is in Pacific City only 3 miles away. The owner has menus in a notebook. She also has a Things to Do notebook the helps make the vacation fun filled. This is part of the 3 capes drive and Cape Lookout and Mares are a short drive away to the north, and Cape Kiwanda to the south. Perfect location. The neighbors are quiet and friendly. I'd like to keep this house secret, in a way, but must report that it's a terrific vacation home. read more

Super grateful for our time at Tierra del Mar. All ideas of what this 4 day getaway in Oregon were above and beyond what we had envisioned! Easily walking down the lane from your Guardenia house and over the little dune and glimpsing the beachfront was like stepping into a dream! You were a pleasure to do business with from start to finish, Susy. You left no detail unaccounted for. Full bang for the buck! From the perfectly stocked kitchen ( it has everything and then some! ) to the extra linens, blankets, to the garden herbs which made it into my cooking, to the nice array of books and games, the drying rack and even hose outside to wash off sandy feet and messy dog, we were WELL provided for at the Guardenia house! The 5 of us and our golden retriever were able to thoroughly relax and enjoy all aspects of the gorgeous beachfront and of your comfy, cozy home. The pride of ownership and your obvious love and respect of 'dogs and their humans' as you so aptly put it, has made this an inviting vacation to both plan for and enjoy while there. This amazing house, with a lot of light, is less than a half block from the beach, an easy walk. There is a small hill that is steep in between the street and the beach but I was able to walk it, even though I have a walking cast/boot on one of my legs. The beach was amazing, even when the weather is not. The house was very spacious and well maintained. The internet was good there, we are definitely a family that uses the internet. The bunk house had bunk beds and a pull out cot underneath. It had its own heater that heated it up quickly. It is separate from the house, so you have to go into the house to access a bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed. And the best grocery store was about 25 minutes away. There was a microwave, toaster, coffee maker and more. Plenty of dished to choose from. There was no dishwasher. There was a lot of living space including the dining room, living room and extra space. We brought our dog here and she was very happy. I had spent a few evenings searching on vacation rental sites and just wasn't finding what my family and I needed. We needed a clean, comfortable, quiet vacation rental at the beach that would welcome my daughter's two furry family members (dogs). It wouldn't be a family vacation if the dogs had to stay at home as part of the family wouldn't be with us. It was a relief when we found Susy's place in Tierra Del Mar as she allows well-behaved pets. We appreciated that the backyard is fenced to keep our critters in safely, and there is a little back room that the damp pooches could hang out in until they dried after a wet run on the beach. We were there to celebrate my youngest's graduation from college. While there we barbecued up fabulous dinners together, took view-rich hikes, played board games and completed a puzzle from Susy's well-stocked game closet, visited the beach several times a day and was able to pop over the dune last minute one evening and catch a gorgeous sunset on the water. We had a great time at the Pier Street house! Only a few houses from the beach, it allowed us to take many trips during the day to catch a sunbreak, skip a downpour, grab lunch, etc. We were two families: 4 adults, 3 kids, 1 dog. A perfect fit for the house! The kids bunk room worked great and allowed the kids to get to bed slightly away from the main living room. The kitchen was well-equipped (I think the appliances are nicer than my own!), and the wood stove really heated the house up well! It was nice to crack the windows at night and hear the waves and get a fresh breeze. The gated laundry room and doggie door were perfect for our dog, though all he really cared about was the beach. It was his first time, and the beach is empty enough that we didn't have to worry too much about him running away forever. We had really temperate weather for January; I can only imagine how great it will be in the summer! We'll head back here for sure. Also, the gem shop across the street was a big hit with the kids. read more

We stayed at the Guardenia St. house for three nights with our two dogs. My husband and I really appreciated the view from the large master bedroom. The table and chairs in the bedroom enabled us to enjoy our breakfasts while bird watching. We saw a Stellar's Jay busily working on building a nest and also a beautiful orange hummingbird. The walk to the beach is short and the bonus is all of the bunnies in the yards. Some are so friendly they will come right up to you so we started bringing carrot sticks and lettuce with us on the way to the beach. Another bonus, the beach is really private. We only saw a few other people on the beach during our stay. Pacific City is a short drive south for supplies and places to eat. Be sure to eat at the Grateful Bread Bakery. The food is really good and they sell awesome tie dye tees with the message "Everybody Must Get Sconed" on the back. Highly recommend the Guardenia Street House if you are looking for a relaxing stay at the coast. read more

This was my first time on the Oregon Coast and I'd heard how beautiful it was. And it was! I chose this house because of the huge bedroom window that looked out onto the trees - for some reason that appealed to me more that a beach view as soon as I saw it. And it was beautiful and peaceful. I think I could have spent my vacation in that bedroom! However, the rest of the house had everything we needed plus good internet which is sometimes hard to get in out of the way places. This is not the place to go if you want big attractions like amusement parks, but if you want beautiful beaches, state parks, wildlife, lighthouses, and just enough restaurants and local breweries, it's for you. It was quite chilly one of the days we were there, but we played games, read, and just relaxed. So much fun. Plus, the owner is helpful and responsive to your needs. There were just two of us but I peeked into the bunk house, and kids would have a great time having their own place to hang out. read more

I never knew how delightful a week in a quiet place could be until discovering the Pier Street house. The house is spacious enough for a large family but also a cozy space for two. The sound of the ocean can be heard from the balcony on the second floor which is a perfect space to read a book or to share a conversation. The beach is a short walk away, and you will find yourself in near solitude once you get there. If you want company, Pacific City is a short walk down the beach. Climb over Cape Kiwanda and enjoy a stout while watching others enjoy themselves. The house is well-equipped with the tools needed to make a variety of meals, various card and board games, a television and an assortment of DVDs, and a full laundry room. The beds are comfortable, and a wood stove is available to keep you warm in the colder months. While walking on the beach is beautiful and calming, the woods are just a short drive away if you need a change of scenery. read more

We loved the Pier Street house! Three friends, three horses and two dogs on a long weekend getaway (Monsoon Special with an extra night made it even better!). The house is spacious and cozy at the same time. We made great meals in the kitchen, played games, watched the ocean and sky change colors, and enjoyed some meals out in Pacific City. We walked and rode on the beach every day (one afternoon we met an inquisitive sea lion who kept popping up to watch us from between waves!). Crazy A's Horse Hotel is just a few miles away, making it easy to vacation with our own horses...there is just nothing like hoofbeats on packed sand and splashing through the waves! Sam and Eddy the mini-dogs loved the fenced backyard, the seagulls and the Beach Bunnies (AKA actual rabbits who hopped away just out of reach!). We found this wonderful place, IdyllicBeachHouse.com, close to the beach while looking for a quick getaway for the weekend. We were pleasantly surprised by the affordable price and the location. We were expecting to pay an exorbitant amount of money and found this treasure literally a few yards from the beach in a quiet part of the scenic Oregon coast. The house was spacious, clean and the easy beach access makes for some exciting treasure hunting. The town, Tierra Del Mar, is a quaint beach community within driving distance of boutique shops, fun restaurants, and scenic attractions that are perfect for the family. They are dog friendly and even provide an outdoor fenced space for you to sit with your dog and have breakfast or coffee. Susy was incredible to work with and made the experience worthwhile. It was another beautiful September visit to Pier Street. The weather was great and, as always, we felt right at home. Some of the reasons we keep returning to Pier Street (8 years now) is that it is comfortable, well-appointed, WiFi (!), close to activities and the beach, and our dogs are welcome (fenced yard). It has become our go-to vacation spot for those breaks at the beach. I might add that the clear weather this time permitted some spectacular star-gazing, bonus! There are good restaurants in Pacific City. The beach at the end of Pier Street is peaceful and uncrowded, a great place to walk. It's a quiet neighborhood, an easy place to relax. We are very grateful to stay at this lovely place. read more

A quiet, dog-friendly beach house with lots of character just a one-road-crosssing + one-block walk from a very beautiful beach. We were there on sunny, sunny days at the end of August, with only 35 other people on the beach. The last day was a bit gray -- as Oregon does -- and we only saw two people. As dog-loving introverts, it was a great place for two people and two dogs to stay and relax. The instructions were fantastic; thanks to Susy, I knew exactly where it was, how to get in, and what to do. Folks who are light-sensitive may want to bring sleeping masks. The bedroom skylights are beautiful, but one could wake with the dawn. read more

My husband and I took our God-son and his parents away for a coast weekend. We were fortunate enough to get the Gardenia Street house for a few days and it was fantastic. The house is tucked away in a wooded area just two blocks from the beach. The house itself was spotless and well stocked with all the "bits and pieces" for an enjoyable stay. There were games to play, plenty of cooking utensils, and of course the tranquil hours listening to the wind in the trees. It was a great place for our dogs as well; they loved running on the beach and snoring in front of the fireplace. read more

We have had the joy of staying at the Pier Street house several times now and just can't wait to go back. This house is always clean, has a really functional layout, and has everything you need to keep a large family comfortable for several days. The street is safe and quiet, and the beach access is super convenient. We especially appreciate the owner's no nonsense approach to renting, she keeps it simple and is extremely responsive unlike large management companies. Suzy's Gardenia House is by far the best rental we've ever had! It is nestled in a canopy of beautiful trees with a gorgeous sky view every night from the master bedroom. The sound of the ocean is so peaceful just a tiny walk across the way. Every room was clean, super comfy, and a very well stocked kitchen if you want to cook or just have a pot of coffee! A beautiful home away from home...only better with the Ocean a walk away. Susy is a one of a kind hostess. We WILL be back ...even though we are 30 hours away. worth every bit! read more

Both my husband and I, as well as our dog, loved Susy's place on Guardenia Street! We needed a quiet, restful place to de-stress, and this home fit the bill perfectly. It was just as advertised, clean, lots of space, and a close walk to the beach. No worries about a traffic jam to the beach, or stumbling over people, as it was secluded and peaceful. We are already dreaming about our next trip there. Our dog was very disappointed that there was no more beach walks when we got home. Thanks for being so dog (and people) friendly! read more

Spent the 4th of July weekend at Pier House. We have rented several places at the coast over the last few years and the family voted this house as our favorite. The beach was beautiful and not crowded during such a busy weekend. We enjoyed eating at the Grateful Bread Bakery and renting kayaks in Pacific City. Spotted 2 bald eagles as we paddled down the river! The house is well equipped for visitors and our puppies enjoyed the fenced in backyard. Definitely will be renting this home again in the future. read more
