I am extremely happy with the care my dog has received here. I have had to bring in my very senior dog twice for treatment of life threatening emergencies and both times she has successfully received life extending care with recovery that is as good or better than can be expected for a 15 year old dog. I've mostly worked with Dr Scott but also have had some work with Dr Sid as well. I'm very thankful this team has been able to get me more time with my pup and will continue to come back and recommend them in the future. read more

Dr. Scott and Dr. Sid both took such amazing care of my dog Rufus in his final year. They were patient and understanding and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure he was as comfortable and happy as possible while he struggled with Cushings disease. On the day he needed to leave us, Dr Scott came in on a Saturday with an hours notice, and helped Rufus pass on. It was peaceful and painless. My family and I have been going to pacific avenue for over 20 years, and will continue to go for as long as we live here. Lengthy, but please read to the end. First, we never intended on reporting/reviewing our experience but after the shameful reply by Rachel Silverson the office manager to our email (see attached), we decided it needed to happen so others will be aware and be cautious because PAVC wasn't going to take responsibility on this one. This is NOT about the money! But to honestly say "we made a mistake and we'll do better next time" would have gone a long way. 2/14/24-Our 4 yr old English Cream Golden had a pea-sized growth on this tail. Dr Scott wanted to remove it and so did we, he indicated it was pretty routine. No discussion of risks or options. When I picked Leo up following his surgery, Dr Scott mentioned several times that he "hopes the stitched stay, I had to make them really tight in order to pull the skin on his tail together". (Tails don't have much skin to give). Paid $1011.5 2/19/24-Took Leo back in because he wasn't doing well. His tail started "weeping" but with all the hair, we could really see what was happening so we assumed he might have an infection(now we know that was bodily fluids with nowhere to go). (see pic 1) Their answer was to put a "honey" wrap on the wound along with re-wrapping his upper tail. They shaved his tail so we could keep an eye on the situation and insinuated he had been biting at his tail, but he had definitely NOT. At this point he was on very heavy sedation. The clinic was not concerned except to remind us to not let him bite at his tail, sold us another neck device to add to the cone and added more medication. For the next 3 days we followed Leo around wiping up the puddles and oozing coming off his tail. It was horrible, smelled awful, and was clearly very painful. Paid $399 2/22/24 We were scared because he was getting sicker so we rushed him in to Tanasbourn Emergency Vet Clinic. The surgeon there let us know (documented) that the stitches had in fact been done so tightly, that it cut off the circulation to his tail creating a tourniquet....killing his tail. The amazing vets were so kind and caring when they let us know they couldn't save Leo's beautiful tail...but they COULD save his life and we were thankful. Paid $1105 2/28/24 We finally received a call from Dr Scott expressing his regret that things didn't go better for Leo and that he had "lost our trust". Said he was "giving us space" but we're convinced he was afraid to reach out. He's truly a kind man but this is about seeing every surgery as risky. We went back and forth about having Dr Scott at PAVC remove Leo's stitches. I wanted THEM to look Leo in the eye, see HIM as worthy of "better" but ultimately they declined. I really have liked the Vet's at this location but the front staff are their downfall. The office manager, who's name I did not catch and some woman up front who was a receptionist that has a name like Amy or some such were trying to help me with figuring out what medications I have bought in the past for my pet. The quick to annoyance with a few questions I had on their records and what things were for, was apparent. Both of these women were rushing me, seemed to not care and the general attitude from all that were up front right minded me of High School mean girls. They not very patient or helpful and I do not feel comfortable going there anymore. read more

This guy is a jerk for not telling me me cat had a cancerous tumor instead I was under the believe it was a cyst because somewhere along the line of communication that's what I was told he opperayed and removed the cyst but he got another one that I didn't bring in until it got to big as I believed it was a cyst he said it was to late to remove it as it was to large but still no mention of cancer I took the cat to another vet and was immediately informed that it was not a cyst and was cancer the guy is very Un thorough and completely neglected to tell me my cat had cancer this is bad veterinary protocol and I should sue the guy read more

I had the best dog anyone could ever ask for that I adopted from the co op in forest grove on St. Patties day in 2004. His name was Copper and he was a bull mastiff mix. Dr Sid was his first vet and if I recall at least one of his sisters was also a patient of Dr Sid. Because Copper had some siblings in the area I am trying to find out if Dr Sid or anyone else knows if there is any of his brothers or sisters had puppies. Copper lived an amazing life until about a year ago when he passed peacefully in his home. Dr Sid is a very caring vet who very clearly cares, not just about the animals he treats, but the pet parents too. We have lived in the area for the last five years with a senior cat with a number of health problems. Dr Sid has been patient and caring through multiple visits and helped keep our cat comfortable in his final years. When the years became too much for our pet, Dr Sid made a house call to help make sure our pet's passing was in a comfortable place both for our cat and for us. It is truly appreciates and when the time comes for another pet, Dr Sid will immediately be our choice of vet again. We've been going to PAVC since we moved to Forest Grove in 97. Through many cats, some with serious challenges, Dr Sid has been great. His staff has changed thru the years, but they always take good care of our babies. I would recommend appointments as they do get busy. Also you can do a drop-off in the morning of your appointment. I've been coming to Dr Sid since I was 4 years old with my first kitten and dog. Now in my mid-twenties and living in downtown Portland, I still happily drive out to Forest Grove for Pacific Avenue's amazing care. They are so kind and really love what they do, and it shows. I moved to Forest Grove in January 2013 and chose Pacific Avenue Vet for my dog because of a review on Google which said Dr. Sid had been so compassionate when they had to put a pet down, and that he had come to their home to do the procedure - I knew that I might be having to make such a decision soon for my dog, and this was of paramount importance to me. My dog ended up living a year and 3 months longer, and the staff at Pacific Avenue Vet were always wonderful with her when she came for shots or medication or nail clippings (something she HATED and it took three staff members to hold her for it). I also took my mentally-challenged neighbor there when her dogs needed vaccinations and some treatment, and they treated her with respect, explained things slowly, and were able to give her a much-needed break on prescriptions. Then a neighborhood cat got injured in a fight with a raccoon - I found the cat just as I was getting ready to go to the airport for a business trip, and the vet was happy to take in the cat on my way to the airport. And then it was time to let my dog go: Dr. Syd came to our home, as promised more than a year ago, and was so compassionate, so caring - he treated my dog, and us, so gently, and talked us through exactly what was happening. His staff made all the arrangements regarding her cremation and the return of her ashes to me. As someone else noted, you need to make an appointment - they get VERY busy - but you can call if your pet needs some immediate attention, but not an emergency, and very often they can get you in later in the day. EDITED ADDITION: Had to move this to the best review possible. They are just so outstanding with our new puppy. I've even just stopped by to get her used to going in, and they are always happy to see her. read more

So Anna, you say it took no time at all. Did you not call the receptionist to make an appointment, then the receptionist had to check you in and either they or a technician placed you and your pet in an exam room and probably wrote a breif history or description in the chart. Then the doctor came in and examined the lip for a few minutes( did you actually clock the time spent or were you estimating time since time usually goes by much fasert than we think). By the way after you left the room the doctor had to write a description of his "breif" exam finding in the chart which is required by law which probably took a few minutes. By my calculations there are probably more than a few minutes involved in your total transaction time and everyone in the clinic you saw or spoke to has to get paid a salary and benefits and rent has to be paid on the building you went into.So by my calculations $45.00 is not a bad price to pay for the opinion and evaluation by someone who went to school 8 years and may owe up to $150,000 dollars for that eduaction. What would you charge? Also you said yourself you only went there for minor problems so you are probably not one of their valuable clients who they may go out of there way for. I have gone to doctors for many years both human and veterinary and often have to wait at least 15 minutes. They are not McDonalds. I do not know you and I have not been to this clinic but I have heard good things about the clinic. read more
