We had no idea what we were seeing.

Lengthy, but please read to the end. First, we never intended on reporting/reviewing our experience but after the shameful reply by Rachel Silverson the office manager to our email (see attached), we decided it needed to happen so others will be aware and be cautious because PAVC wasn't going to take responsibility on this one. This is NOT about the money! But to honestly say "we made a mistake and we'll do better next time" would have gone a long way. 2/14/24-Our 4 yr old English Cream Golden had a pea-sized growth on this tail. Dr Scott wanted to remove it and so did we, he indicated it was pretty routine. No discussion of risks or options. When I picked Leo up following his surgery, Dr Scott mentioned several times that he "hopes the stitched stay, I had to make them really tight in order to pull the skin on his tail together". (Tails don't have much skin to give). Paid $1011.5 2/19/24-Took Leo back in because he wasn't doing well. His tail started "weeping" but with all the hair, we could really see what was happening so we assumed he might have an infection(now we know that was bodily fluids with nowhere to go). (see pic 1) Their answer was to put a "honey" wrap on the wound along with re-wrapping his upper tail. They shaved his tail so we could keep an eye on the situation and insinuated he had been biting at his tail, but he had definitely NOT. At this point he was on very heavy sedation. The clinic was not concerned except to remind us to not let him bite at his tail, sold us another neck device to add to the cone and added more medication. For the next 3 days we followed Leo around wiping up the puddles and oozing coming off his tail. It was horrible, smelled awful, and was clearly very painful. Paid $399 2/22/24 We were scared because he was getting sicker so we rushed him in to Tanasbourn Emergency Vet Clinic. The surgeon there let us know (documented) that the stitches had in fact been done so tightly, that it cut off the circulation to his tail creating a tourniquet....killing his tail. The amazing vets were so kind and caring when they let us know they couldn't save Leo's beautiful tail...but they COULD save his life and we were thankful. Paid $1105 2/28/24 We finally received a call from Dr Scott expressing his regret that things didn't go better for Leo and that he had "lost our trust". Said he was "giving us space" but we're convinced he was afraid to reach out. He's truly a kind man but this is about seeing every surgery as risky. We went back and forth about having Dr Scott at PAVC remove Leo's stitches. I wanted THEM to look Leo in the eye, see HIM as worthy of "better" but ultimately they declined. Please see attached pictures and copies of our communication with Pacific Avenue Vet Clinic. We tried to take the high road but was met with unprofessionalism and attitude so here we are.

However, in my dog's greatest time of need, I have had no responses to the two urgent voicemails and was on hold for over 15 minutes trying to find out what the plan was going to be for my dogs care. I spoke with staff at my dog's last visit 4 days prior and they stressed to me to just let them know when it's Cheeto's time and they'll accommodate me/us. I ended up hanging up after the long hold and called a veterinarian down the street, who are able to get Cheeto in very quickly (I am grateful for that because my beloved dog is suffering.) Additionally, when I was a client here at Companion, any prescriptions that Cheeto needed were at least 3 times more expensive than anywhere else I looked. And they charge you a fee for the prescription to be sent out to another (cheaper) prescriber - and med was still cheaper elsewhere after the addition of their fee. In conclusion, I am very disappointed at their response (or lack of) when my dog is in such critical need.

It's bad enough they promised to take our dog in if their recommended treatment didn't work its that Dr. Wenzel lied on a number of occasions including keeping an appointment, then charging us for one we didn't have, including that medicine. This is even after we offered the proof of the texting that I still have. She refused our requests for in person conference. If the credit card company won't do something about these unauthorized charges, a small claims court suit should.

However, I was never advised to have sedation meds on hand--something that turned out to be essential for what I needed: a proper blood draw for my 15-year-old cat who has been losing weight. The vet arrived on time and was very friendly, which I appreciated. They performed a very basic exam and attempted a blood draw by wrapping my cat in a towel and offering her treats, without any sedation or local numbing. The vet seemed nervous and missed three attempts at drawing blood, then abruptly said they wouldn't try any other methods and that "this is all we can do." I asked if they could administer sedation and come back once it took effect. I was told Gabapentin could work, but that it had to be given the night before--which turned out to be false. A different vet later informed me it only needs 2-3 hours to take effect. I was especially frustrated because I'm leaving town May 20 to arrange my father's funeral, and this appointment was meant to ensure my cat was cared for while I'm gone. Instead, I was charged $250, given 10 Gabapentin pills, and told I'd need to reschedule and pay again--including another full exam fee--to repeat the entire visit. They were polite, but this experience left me incredibly disappointed, with zero resolution. Now I have to go to another vet, pay another exam fee, and get a blood panel done--putting me at an estimated $750-$1,000 just to get basic bloodwork for a senior cat. The lack of clear instructions, poor communication, and unwillingness to follow through on essential care was unacceptable. I cannot recommend this unacceptable service.

DO NOT BUY GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPPIES FROM THIS KENNEL !!!! First let me say that this review is not a…read morereview of the person, as Bonnie seems nice but our opinion (based on experience) of why you should not buy puppies from this kennel. Sorry this is VERY long but I want to save any one interested in a GS puppy from all the trouble we have experienced. Our GS puppy from Bonnie is by far THE WORST GS dog I have ever had. In my life I have had 5 GS dogs (all that died of old age) and the one that I bought from Nobel German Shepherds is THE MOST insecure, anxious, destructive animal that I have ever owned. When searching for GS puppies, I specifically informed Bonnie how important temperament was to me as we needed to have a stable minded, confident, family oriented, friendly puppy for our family as I have 4 kids and I live in a neighborhood with lots of children and lots of dogs. She assured me that her dogs are exactly what we were looking for but starting day 2, I got the complete opposite (seriously it's not an over exaggeration - i've never had a puppy like this). I have socialized this puppy more than any dog i've ever had starting at 8 weeks of age. I took him everywhere, met all kinds of people, took him to meetings, kids swimming and tennis classes, exposed him to all sorts of stimuli, attending puppy socialization classes, used multiple dog trainers but the older this puppy got, the worse he became. Even our vet said he does not have the temperament we were looking for and is one of the most anxious, fearful, mouthiest dogs he's ever seen. I know puppies are mouthy but this puppy was no joke and we have the scars to prove it. This puppy was also extremely nervous and jumped at everything which would often result in him nipping us when we try to hold him by the leash or soothe him. He also barked at everything because everything scared him and can not stand dogs or people. I think much of his behavior stems from his lack of confidence and fear of everything but try telling that to the person he's barking at and lunging at as we walk him around our neighborhood (although after much work that is slowly improving). I just don't understand this dog's fear and anxiety as we did everything we could to raise him properly and avoid these behaviors. He also tears up carpets, chews on molding and wood and rips into our sofa's despite getting more than ample exercise and having toys and bones to chew on. I am a devoted GS lover and after having so many GS dogs, this one made me feel like I knew nothing about the breed and couldn't have been the worst of his breed to bring home as my children's first dog. Needless to say, I would NEVER recommend Nobel German Shepherd to anyone seeking a stable minded, confident GS as a family pet because as I came to find out much later from friends that know other GS breeders - Nobel GS tends to produce some "very needy dogs" which I can attest to. If you are looking for a GS puppy - FIND ANOTHER BREEDER !! Someone that has extensive knowledge, love and understanding of GS temperament, works with multiple GS dogs and has experience working with different temperaments and also has a true history of producing quality, stable minded, confident puppies. In hindsight, I do not really think that Bonnie is a true GS breeder but a GS pet owner that applied for a kennel name, made he own webpage and has a sire and dam from a decent lineage that she uses to produce puppies as an additional source of revenue. I do not believe that she has any more understanding on how to produce confident, stable minded puppies than I would being a GS pet owner for the past 30 years. Another thing I also learned in hindsight from speaking with other breeders is that a good breeder has usually worked with puppies long enough to understand puppy personality and although there's no guarantee, can often match a puppies temperament to what their future families are looking for. Some even do temperament testing. If you message me and would like referrals, I found some very reputable breeders after the fact. As a side note, Bonnie did offer to take the dog back but as many pet owners can relate, after vesting so much love and dedication into him , as crazy as he is, we are emotionally vested in him. We don't mind rehoming him (for free) to someone with the experience to handle him and love him but we couldn't send him back to Nobel to live a life in a cage, eating, drinking and going to the bathroom where he sleeps and hardly ever getting out to run around free. This wasn't about money to us. We wanted the right person for him that can devote the time to work with him and give him great quality of life and LOVE. We are still looking for a good fit for this dog because he is beautiful an can be amazing (he's just hard for my family and situation) but till then, we will do the best we can for him and hopefully all of you that are looking for GS puppies can learn from our experience and AVOID THIS BREEDER.

Update - If you are thinking of getting a puppy out of Nobel Schafer Von Frankengold and Uda Von…read moreDer Grevener Villa - "Besta" PLEASE think twice. Read my review of the puppy we got from this breeding. You may think $975 is a good price for a GSD from this lineage but since the temperament is not stable, you may end up paying a lot more towards training the dog if it comes out like mine. Since my last review Bonnie's website shows that she retired from Shepherd breeding and has moved BUT has given Schafer and Besta to some of her friends who will continue to breed these dogs. Once again, someone with no GSD breeding experience is going to be producing more litters for money. When do these lovely dogs get to stop? Poor Schafer is over 10 years old and I don't think poor Besta even get's any time between breedings as she seems to keep having litters (despite Bonnie telling us that our litter was Schafer's last due to his age). I think my previous review has been affirmed in that both Schafer and Besta were not bred for the love of the breed but just a means to extra revenue which will now pass to new owners. Nobel German Shepherd took their horse and their Maltese and Shih Tzu's that they also breed with them when they moved. If they truly cared for their GSD's, why didn't they just stop the breeding Besta and Schafer and take them as well? I would never leave a dog that I loved behind !!

DO NOT BUY PUPPIES OUT OF THIS BREEDING if you want stable temperament and confidence in your GSD :…read more Nobel Schafer Von Frankengold and Uda Von Der Grevener Villa - "Besta" Please refer to my yelp review under "Nobel German Shepherds, Bonnie K Goold" if you would like to learn of the experience that my family has had with a puppy (now dog) from this breeding. The previous owner of Schafer and Besta was Nobel German Shepherds / Bonnie K Goold out of Forest Grove. After her and her husband decided to move in 2020, they left both Schafer and Besta with a "friend" (Marvin and Lorena Fincher) so that they could continue to breed these dogs perhaps as an additional source of revenue at $1,000 a puppy. If you visit the sire and dam, you too will be convinced that those two mellow dogs from a decent lineage will produce some nice puppies. It wasn't until we brought our puppy home and he began to grow that we (and everyone we've met including our vet) saw that our puppy had some serious issues and was not a family oriented pet (despite tons of socialization). When I purchased my puppy - there were no reviews on this breeder besides what was on her website or reviews on the sire and dam. I'm hoping that my review's can help people avoid all the heartache we experienced and so that I can help steer families that have decided to get a GSD towards a breeder that truly has experience working with multiple GSD's, know's their temperaments and has a history of producing quality stable minded, confident puppies. The owners of Besta and Scahfer ARE NOT breeders but people who have a pair of dogs from a good lineage that they continuously breed for puppies. PLEASE READ MY REVIEW under Nobel German Shepherds / Bonnie K Goold if you are considering buying a puppy from the Nobel Schafer Von Frankengold and Uda Von Der Grevener Villa - "Besta" lineage.
