This is the first time I've ever been on yelp. But I was looking to see if there's a way I can email dr. Gammon's personally. Then I ran into all these bad reviews which I can't believe. I feel Dr. Gammon is an awesome guy that is helping a lot of people. I've been dealing with addiction problems almost my whole life. I struggled with alcohol and heroin the most. It was the hardest thing I ever did in my life to get away from those two substances and if it wasn't for Dr. Gammons, I don't believe I would be cleaned today from them. I've been seeing Dr. Gammons for almost 30 years now. And I would say he is the best doctor I've seen to help me get through my problems with addiction. But that's all I'm gonna say I don't review too often. I'm sure there is a lot of good reviews. I just happened to click on the one star ones. There was much more five star reviews. I just can't believe there's any .Dr. Gammons took on a lot of different offices to try to help people in different areas which has to be one of the most hardest jobs. Especially dealing with drug addicts and alcoholics. We can be real pricks. It's gotta be the most stressful job ever has been a doctor dealing with people like us and Dr. Gammon is only been improving from what I seen over the years. read more

They have to know they have this coming after the office visit I just recently had: If you've been seen at this office, pull up your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) on your insurance app immediately. You are likely being overcharged by a staff that operates on a mix of arrogance and total ignorance of their own contracts. I'm a skeptic by nature. I read the bad reviews and thought, "I'll be the judge of that." Convenience won, and for a minute, it seemed fine. The doctor himself is a nice guy...accommodating and professional. He was training a female doctor during my first two visits, who, oddly, I never saw again for the remaining five appointments. The office staff was cordial and they were doing their thing back there... But that "laid back" atmosphere eventually curdled into something toxic. By the fourth visit, the vibe was off...Whispering behind the counter, giggling at weird times, and a robotic, emotionless "deadpan" manner from the staff. Just an uncomfortable, toxic-adjacent environment. What became interesting was how every visit, they demanded a $50 specialist copay. I thought this was okay because my insurance card says specialist would cost as much. However, when I finally checked my EOBs, Blue Care Network had listed my responsibility as $25.00 per visit, with the fine print explicitly stating: "Your provider should not ask you to pay any more than this amount." When I brought this documented fact to the office manager, I was dismissed. A male employee behind the counter who was entirely irrelevant to the conversation decided to rudely insert himself just to be condescending. It's always the ig talking to you as if you're the ig one. I went home, did the research, called BCN, and confirmed I was 100% correct. The EOB is the single source of truth. If BCN processes a claim at $25, the provider is contractually prohibited from charging you a penny more. Today, at my final visit, to my surprise, they initially took the $25. But after seeing the doctor, I came out to find the office manager waiting with a smug attitude to tell me I was wrong and she had "just spoken to BCN." When I tried to explain (for the 15th time) how medical billing codes actually work, the entire front desk lost it. All three employees started talking over me loudly. The office manager became incredibly animated, swinging her head, waving her hands and getting excited. I'll admit, the situation pushed me to a point of matching her energy, but the result was laughable: I was "discharged" (as if I was going to continue going there after this) and told by the other irrelevant girl that she was "calling the police right now!" (LOL) All because I insisted they follow their own insurance contract. Yeah these people are aching for conflict. It's a bizarre sight to see adults have a collective meltdown because a patient understands their billing better than they do. Ignorance isn't an excuse when you're dealing with people's hard-earned money. Check your EOBs. You probably have money sitting in Gammons' bank account that belongs in yours In the meantime I suggest that the office manager and her supporting staff educate themselves by cracking a book on basic medical billing. Oh, and to the office manager: charging more than the member responsibility listed on the EOB is a contractual violation and, in some cases, can be reported as insurance fraud. read more

I had a disappointing experience at this office. The interaction with the female receptionist felt more focused on asserting a point rather than following established office protocols. Unfortunately, this impacted my overall impression of the practice. Clear communication, proper staff training, and knowing when to involve the provider are important in a healthcare setting. As a nurse with over 10 years of experience, I ultimately chose to seek a different medical provider for my sons. While unfortunate, I believe this was the right decision for our family. read more

You prescribed me effexor quick release once a day but that medicine only lasts 10-12 hrs. Good thing my pharmacist caught that and had you switch it to extended release like it should have been from the beginning. You messed up my protonics prescription that I haven't had for a month, and called about twice. You prescribed me Suboxone to get off opiates that I got hooked on battling IBS attacks. So you wrote me for 24 over a 21 day period so I could have extra to help with IBS pain during an attack, but you wrote it for 1 per day so I could only get 21 and ended up 3 short before my appointment. Finally, you wrote it right and gave me 3 extra for a month. I had a horrible IBS attack lasting ~72hrs, and I took 3 films a day plus 2extra early in the month for a mild episode leaving me 5 films short. I called you to explain the situation but you accused me of abusing suboxone and treated me like a worthless junkie. I planned on going to New Orleans for 5 days and only had two films, so I grabbed a few vikes off the street to avoid withdraw, thanks a lot Dr. G. I was sober for 7 months before that. You should look into a new profession that requires 0 compassion, where you can be unapologetically judgemental towards people and it won't have such a detrimental impact! DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU'RE COURT ORDERED AND EVEN THEN ASK FOR SOMEONE ELSE! read more

They seem to know little or nothing about addiction or talking to addicts.They do not want to know you. They pretty much blow off any of your concerns unless it effects their practice.If they do try to show any compassion,it comes of fake and too little to late.Good place for counseling. Chrissy really seems to care ,is intelligent,and knows from where she speaks.Just another sub dr. This place is absolutely horrible and I wish I could find a better place to go but because I don't want to run into old crowds, I have no choice but to go here. If I could rate a negative, I would. Everyone besides for the patients whim are getting Lazer removal (if they even still do this here) is there because of addiction. So, we are trying to stay clean and it doesn't help when they treat you like a straight junkie I've personally got into it with Gammons himself twice. He's a total TOOL. He'd ask me a question, then cut me off not letting me answer him then tell me I'm cutting him off and won't let him speak and that I'm being aggressive and "acting like he is being an idiot to me" so I said YOU ARE!!! That argument happened on the day he accused me of relapsing but I didn't and kept asking him to look at the laptop directly in front of him and read my results because he was wrong. Then I got this long drawn out lecture about how he knows people like me because he's been doing this for so many years and you don't get where he is now not knows anything about this business and the people who need to come here. Smdh. Did I get an apology when he finally shit his dumb ass mouth and seen that I was in fact clean?! nope, of course not! Besides for Gammon himself being a complete douche and treating people like POS's I think most there are idiots and assholes. I get treated like I'm a street rat junkie bitch who doesn't deserve their respect. They continue to mess up my scripts and forget trying to call to get a script that you were told would be called in to your pharmacy, because they'll never do it. Don't leave a message but I highly doubt they listen to them. Hell, don't even ask your pharmacist to send them a message because they won't reply to them as well!! The only good thing about this place is Patrick, one of the therapists. But be careful spilling your guts in there because I can usually hear every single word that is being said by both Patrick and his patient. Smh. Walls must be paper thin. So much for some privacy. Alsoooo, I kept getting these crazy charges for missed appointments that I didn't miss but yet I still had to pay them of course because they KNOW good and well that I had no choice because I need my subs or I'll be sick and I refuse to go to the streets again. And if anyone still goes there, check your billing statements because they charged me 25$ for their office covid supplies! Like, what kinda doctors office does that?! If they're going to split those costs with their patience at least just label it as taxes! I've never even asked them for one mask and refuse to use their stinky ass dollar store hand sanitizer! Oh yeah and so even tho I didn't owe them shit I was told I had no choice but to pay or else I wouldn't see the doctor and would t get my script YET an older black dude came in after me and was clearly high as hell (I swear, every time I see him there he is nodding out and weird asf) she asks him does he have anything to pay on his bills... NOT TELLS HIM HE HAS TO PAY, BUT ASKS, and he says nah I'll just pay next time. Are you fuckin serious?! She legit says, ok. And looks straight over at me. The B knew she was wrong. So I was like, well I guess I'm just the wrong color then. But they are alot nicer to men , I've noticed that too. Dr. Gammoms and his staff are great. They are good at what they do and genuinely care. They try to understand addiction as best they can and use appropriate avenues to treat it. If you're considering suboxine therapy this is the place to go. However they do require you to go to group counseling or one on one therapy to receive your script. But if you're serious about getting and staying clean, therapy really does help. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Gammons and his staff for approximately one year now. I am extremely pleased with their service, both front office and back. Courtney and Tina are very helpful and courteous when you call and are very knowledgeable when it comes to Dr. Gammon's policies and procedures. If you have to reschedule your appointment they always do their best to get you in as soon as possible. I've seen the PA's, Katie Simon and Callie Berman, the most since choosing Gammons Medical as my primary physician and my suboxone provider. They both are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to addiction medicine and have excellent bed side manor. They take the time to really get to know you and your circumstances. Never once have I left there feeling like "just another patient". If you are ready to pursue sobriety, seeking treatment in this office is certainly a step in the right direction. BEWARE BEFORE GOING HERE! So I came here for the same reason everyone else does to get help! First few visits when I had insurance the young nurse's were very kind & you can tell they genuinely wanted to help you. This is where things got weird. I went in for my apt. & finally got to see the main Dr. Gammons he was intelligent, nice for the 10 minutes they let you see him.. He asked me why my in house drug screening was clean when I told him I use Marijuana, he said would you mind if I sent it out to the lab I agreed. (Luckily my insurance covered the $600 bill from Quest they do not tell you about in person). Now I show up to my next visit with no insurance and see this other guy doctor I never seen before older gentlemen w/ mustache I tell him about me not having insurance and how $130 for a 10 minute apt. hurts the pockets. He proceeds after the apt. to send my urine out for screening w/o mentioning it to me. A month passes I get a bill from Quest in the mail for $400 I call Gammons office the lady's at the desk say bring it in we will handle it. After bringing in the 3rd and 4th notice from Quest and them telling me "the billing dept. would handle it" I received a collection notice in the mail for $388. I brought this up to the office where I seen the Dr. that sent it out he refused to talk to me waved his hand in the air turned his back. He walked away like a coward and made his young lady receptionists handle it with me. The lady from billing pulls me in another room and continues to act like it's not their problem. Then I hear the Dr. through the walls of the other room yelling at his staff to "get him out of here" a lady walks in and says "she will call the authorities if I do not leave" THIS IS THE LAST STRAW! YOU ARE PUTTING ADDICTS IN MORE DEBT THAN THEY CAME IN W/ you put me on SUBOXONE FOR MONTHS NEVER EVEN GIVING ME ANY FEEDBACK ON WHEN I SHOULD START WHINING OFF! DR GAMMONS OFFICE IS A MONEY GRAB! THEY WANT TO KEEP YOU ON SUBOXONE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE TO KEEP RACKING IN THE $130 Co-pays and who knows what else they get from the insurance company's for prescribing this medication that is highly addictive and want to keep you on it for as long as possible! EVERYONE THAT GOES HERE BEWARE OF DECEPTIVE PRACTICES. MY OTHER BUDDY THAT WENT ENDED UP IN DEBT OVER $1,200 for failing a drug test! GO TO A REAL DR. So after being charged an outrageous amount from another tattoo removal office in Rochester and not seeing the results I wanted, I went searching for another avenue. I got in touch with Dr. Gammon's office in Royal Oak and was scheduled the next day for 1/3 of what I was paying the other Dr. in Rochester. Dr. Gammons shows much more interest in aggressively lasering my embarrassing name tattoo than my money. I am so glad I switched Dr.s and would absolutely recommend him to any of my friends that needed tattoo removal. read more
