Amazing course in Shelby County. The clubhouse is gorgeous and the greens are always in good shape. Are there nicer courses, of course but weekend rate of $65 with cart is hard to beat. There are shots for all types of golfers. The only quirk at Timberline is that 9 is furtherest away from the clubhouse and there is no halfway house. read more

It was good but a stranger wacked me in the back of the head with a golf club then I got hit in the face with a golf ball. The sky was beautiful and so was the dog poop on the ground my 3 year old sister thought it was ice cream so they didn't end well... read more

I am just gonna start out by saying that this is more about a member of this Golf Club more than the staff that works at this establishment. We scheduled a tee time for 12:20 and was there early to start our golf game. The Marshall there let us know that we could go ahead and start. So, that is exactly what we did. We were told that there was a group of people that were playing closely to the same timeframe. We had 4 total people in our group. From the 1st through the 4 hole it was all fine. We even let another group go in front of us since they only had 3 players and were playing faster than we did. Once we let this group go through was where we started having issues with the people behind us. Some of them were members there. We got called out by these people and were called to the front office that we needed to start speeding up our game. The Marshall came out and talked to us about this. That is exactly what we did. So we kept playing on until the 12th hole when we were met by one member and was told that we needed to hurry up and just go. We offered to let them play through but was not greeted with the respect and dignity that we deserve since spending over $400 in green fees just to play. After this confrontation we had to call the front office to deal with this person. The Marshall was quickly sent out to deal with this. Luckily we did not have to deal with this person again. I just think in reviewing what happened, the person that had such a hard time needs to have a little more patience for people that pay hard earned money to play at a public golf course. If this person has such an issue with people not playing up to their standards, then this person should go to a private establishment that can give them the playtime they need in the timeframe they want. I hope that Timberline Golf Course Club can remedy these situations because this issue hinders others from playing at this establishment. read more

Great Golf Course, with great amazing views, amazing food in the dining area definitely a bang for your buck food wise and also golf wise. Would recommend to anybody that wants to have some fun on the links. overall one of the best golf courses i've been to. read more

Timberline Golf is a top notch course in Calera, Alabama. It is conveniently located off of I-65. About a 30 minute drive south of Birmingham. The course is on a beautiful piece of land that is rolling terrain. It does not return to the clubhouse after the first nine holes. There are railroad tracks for the Dixie Railroad museum that run through the course. On weekends you might catch the demonstration steam engine pulling cars full of kids and train enthusiasts. The course is well kept and is a really good Jerry Pate design. The greens are usually in good shape and pretty fast. The yardage markers are to the front of the greens which is different from what I'm used to seeing. The course can be very tough. Holes #3 and #4 come to mind. Hole #3 is a par 5 with a narrow green that always seems especially fast. Hole #4 is a par four that plays uphill to a blind green. When you get there you find a two tiered green with a lot of slope. I played today on Customer Appreciation Day. Chilli's Grill and Bar provided free refreshments and lunch. That was very nice! The greens were not in great shape today, and that was net the norm. Timberline is a tough challenge that I really enjoy playing here. read more

Very good golf coarse if you play. The convention center is a nice place to have a party of event.

Overall quality: 5 star golf course! Distance and location: Not that from the tee box, but coming from Bham! You're looking at a 24-30 min drive outside of rush hour. Not bad for mostly highway miles. Price: It's not a municipal walk around, so splurge a little and enjoy the tight lies and well-designed holes. Clubhouse: Friendly service, sales (30%) on decent quality clothing, nice woodwork and clean carpet, clubhouse style décor throughout...well-worth the money. I've been playing Timberline on and off for the past 20 years. In the past the course has always looked great. Good tee boxes, solid fairways and great greens. Well, unfortunately the course has taken a turn for the worse. Not sure if it's under new management or what, but tee boxes are horrible, fairways are torn up, and several of the greens are eat up with weeds. There are several courses in the Birmingham area that are priced the same or better and in much better condition. $50 is not expensive for 18 holes with cart, but knowing how many other courses there are at the same price point I won't be playing Timberline again. read more

Great place to practice and play golf. Mr Hank and Scott are amazing to work with at The School of Golf. Years of knowledge. Great place to get a round in. Open fairways with fats and easy holes. A little for everyone. read more

This place has great buffets on the weekend. During the day they serve a lighter fare. The club is excellent and the potato chips are freshly made a come with their own dipping sauce. A great place to have a casual meeting over lunch. read more

Five stars relative to Alabama golfing. Don't skip this course. Very accessible and less than 30 minutes from Birmingham. Excellent conditions and never packed. Greens are excellent. No bad lies unless you miss fairway which is usually forgiving. Topography and elevation keeps it interesting without wearing you out. For $62.00 you gotta play it. Not much on service or amenities but a nice place. read more
