Awful. Awful. Awful. Worst service I think I've ever had. We went here on a Friday night. Walked in and it was confusing because there was no one in the area (we followed the sign that said next door with an arrow), except one server and what did not look like a Tavern. We asked the server if we were in the right spot. She just looked at us. We asked if this was the Tavern. She said yes and it's next door but there's probably no where to sit. We asked if we could eat in this area (even though it was completely empty). She just said yes and didn't help seat us. We had 5 people. All that was there were booths for 4. She didn't offer to help, nothing. So I just grabbed a chair from the back that had tables, but no lights were on and it had boxes on tables. We made our own place to sit 5. Waited for awhile for menus. Waited for drinks, which she must have to go back to the main tavern where the actual bar was because there wasn't one on the side we were. When she brought our drinks she literally slammed them on the tables. She finally came back to take our food orders. In the meantime another party came, just as confused as we were. They even at one point asked us if someone comes to take orders! We said yes, kinda! Our food took probably a good hour. We ordered an appetizer and entrees. They all came at the same time. And the people that ordered after us got their food first? She never came back to ask us how we were doing or see if we needed more drinks. The pretzels were definitely deep fried in oil used for fish. My French dip was decent. We had to ask again for napkins and silverware since she never gave us any with food. My husband asked her for ketchup (for his fries), twice. She never brought it. I had to literally flag her down to get another drink. Mind you, the side we were sitting was like 4 or 5 booths. It wasn't big. She'd walk by us, many times, never checked on us. I asked for ranch for my tots and she said "you need more ranch?" I never had any. I was then charged $1.25 for it. It probably took another 20-30 minutes to get our bill and she was rude when we asked, and rude when we asked for separate checks. It took 2+ hours for our meal because our server didn't care. Who knows how long our food was waiting. And she simply didn't care we were there or about our meals, drinks, or basic things you get with a meal (silverware, napkins, condiments that never came). If she'd been kind or even apologizing for kitchen being backed up, and checking on us frequently that would have made a difference. But she was probably the rudest server I've ever had. We will definitely not be back. read more

Ok. I write this out of respect of the owner and staff to let you know how great this place is. Now.... If you're an a**hole, please don't come here. This is a wonderful local Flagstaff place that I love. The ambiance is magical. Such a fun place to laugh with locals and friends. If the tourists find this place they will surely ruin it. We had the pulled pork sandwich and it was so delicious. I can't wait to work my way through the menu. The meatloaf is house made and a special treat. I saw a few of the burgers and even though I was full, they looked like I could wait to eat them. Many people were eating the wings so obviously a favorite. There is a magic elixir that is the owner's own recipe for house margaritas. It comes in a gas can for extra flavor. It's delicious and definitely your go to drink. We had such high hope for this local tavern, based on previous reviews. Honestly, I'd swear we went to the wrong place. Positives first - very friendly staff and they do allow dogs. Now the negative, and it was bad. The patio area had so much dog poop that it reeked and there were flies everywhere. So, we moved inside. The food was awful. The Wine burger had good taste, but so soupy that it was a mess. The sweet potato fries were overcooked. The meatloaf, frozen vegetables and jar gravy was disgusting. My husband is not picky and he only ate a few bites. He said it was the worst food he's ever eaten. We didn't say anything, because it wasn't the nice server's fault. While on a three week road trip with dogs, my husband and I found this place on Bring Fido. We were surprised to find that they allow dogs on the patio and inside. What a score! The bartender was super nice. She greeted the dogs and brought out water. Several patrons came by for a pet and a local man came over to give them treats. We ordered Coors Lights, the El Paso Burger and Spinach and Artichoke Dip. All was very good. The dip was rich and the tots that came with the burger were nice and crispy.You should definitely come check this place out. read more

I have been to the tavern many times and I think if you want a homey feel while eating, this place is good. But I have tired many different this on the menu, but still I found the food to be very mediocre. But the service was great and everyone was friendly every time I went there to eat. This is a great tavern with many locals and interesting decor and very dog friendly inside and with the beautiful outdoor patio that has lots of shade and it's fenced in so you can let your dog off leash if they behave well, the buffalo chicken salad was amazing read more

We stopped in for lunch and the food was killer, and the service was awesome. Everyone is so nice, and the menu was huge. There's something for everyone, at reasonable prices. I especially recommend the smash burger and sweet potato fries. I'd go back in a heartbeat. read more

I recently visited a bar that took mixology to a whole new level. The drinks were so pretty; I felt like I was sipping on liquid art. The bartender must have a Ph.D. in fanciness. My cocktail was so beautiful; I almost didn't want to drink it and disturb its Instagram-worthy perfection. If you ever need a self-esteem boost, just order one of their drinks - you'll feel like the belle of the cocktail ball. We just bought a home, this summer, just north of the Timberline Tavern and it's been on my culinary list to explore! With so many great places in Flagstaff to eat, we had just made it in last night for a try. We drive by every day, and it seems packed...gets lots of great reviews, so we were excited to just stop by our new "local" tavern near home for a Thursday night meal!...So glad we did. The Tavern feels so friendly and quaint like you would hope for in a "Tavern". And it happens to be Dog friendly which we as Dog lovers really liked! Two gentlemen at the bar moved over for us to sit at the bar as it was quite busy. Service was great and prompt and we really just enjoyed sitting talking to locals who were so nice and friendly. The menu was great, and I found it hard to choose a dinner. I saw that they had a Chef Salad, which is hard to find and even harder to find a good one, so I decided to give it a shot and it was great. Fresh, great ingredients and really hit the spot. I look forward to trying so many other items on their menu, as well as specials they have from time to time. The owner, Grant, came by and like at a fine restaurant, asked how everything was! I really enjoyed that bit of Personal service in a Tavern of all places, from the owner showing that he really cared about the customers experience and the quality of his restaurant's food Service and Menu! Timberline Tavern also has a nice sized patio, for outdoor dining and live music, which we certainly will be enjoying in our next visits. Timberland Tavern is a great little local Bar/Restaurant with great Service, menu and friendly staff and customers that made our experience feel like the local place we want to spend more time at! Great place to stop on our way back from Lake Powell to gas up and get a Burger, Fries and a Spicy Buffalo Chicken Salad with homemade ranch! (You can get the chicken without the spice, too) our iced teas tasted were fresh brewed and so good. The server was there alone, serving from the full bar as well as all the other lunch customers. The food was very good. Three of us. Two turkey sandwiches and a fish and chips. Fries and tater tots. Everything was good. Bartender, ran the small show, was super friendly and accommodating. We had our two dogs and she brought a bowl of water. I didn't get her name, but she's from Alabama. (I'm from NC). We were there around 2 pm, so it was kinda slow. Was really picking up as we left. Stopped here to grab a hearty snack while exploring all the national monuments outside of Flagstaff. Was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely a joint for locals but that being said, it's also extremely welcoming to outsiders. The bartender was really warm, friendly, and attentive. She also made the extra effort to come to our table even though she was working the bar alone. The Navajo taco was large and delicious. Dog-friendly as pups are allowed inside. This is another quirky little tavern on old Route 66. Every time we've tried to stop here it was closed for one reason or another. Finally, last week we got in to the tavern side (not the restaurant side). Sarah (the server and bartender) told us to be patient she and the cook were the only two working the shift. The collection of the gathered all seem to know one another and most were sitting at the bar drinking beers. I like places like this that seem to date back 80 years. The menu was quite simple--old-fashioned bar food. The prices were quite low and Sarah started to warm up a bit. She was a bit overwhelmed and a couple of times she lost track of what she was doing and told us she was "BUFFERING." When she had a chance to take our order we ordered the BLT ($8.99) with coleslaw and the house smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich ($10.99) with tots. The pulled pork had lot of flavor with a topping of house made coleslaw. Over all the food was good and the prices were low for a late afternoon lunch with entertainment by Sarah. This is an awesome little dive bar. Mostly full of friendly, chatty, locals. I ordered a French dip sandwich, and too many beers. My sandwich was surprisingly better than I expected it to be. Went to play pool with my coworker. After a couple of games, the locals kept lining up, putting their dollar on the table, to claim next game against the winner. This is definitely my kind of place. Just make sure you call ahead to verify the kitchen is open; I believe they do a food truck a couple nights a week. Found this place because it was on our route to our next destination and we didn't want to stray from that. The staff was friendly, I think the waitress was training someone new so there was some disconnect. We ordered the Tavern wings, Meatloaf, Fish and Chips, and chicken tenders. Nothing really stood out as far as flavor. The veggies that came with my meatloaf were straight frozen veggies and were very bland. The gravy on the meatloaf was bland as well. My husband didn't have any complaints on the fish and chips but they looked pretty generic to me. read more

Thank you helpers for the recommendation. Based on the reviews we stopped in for breakfast the other day. I was a bit concerned that at 9am we were the first customers, but it worked out great. My friend and I both had the special, pancakes, eggs, meat of choice. The eggs were so good and my friend added sautés onions and wow. The pancakes weren't great but were good texture just kind of tasteless. The nice server got me a mimosa even though the bartender wasn't there yet. Overall I'd say I'll be back. read more

It's for the locals and there are lots of regulars, but if you're here from out of town, stop by and say hi. The new management is great. The place is cozy (love the wood stove in the corner in winter), it's clean, the patio is fenced in and relaxing, there's a pool table, and the bartenders are always friendly. Most nights, especially weekends, this place is poppin'. Now I hesitate to write this next part because we don't need no uppity tourist or inspector ruining things, but since a lot of other people have already mentioned it, I will too... one of our most favorite parts about this place is they're dog friendly! At any given point you can walk in and a handful of dogs will greet you. I wish more businesses were this way. They certainly get our business because of it. Who doesn't want to drink a cold beer with their furry friend?! Simple pleasures in life. Our dog loves when we pull in the parking lot. Now if you're allergic to dogs or scared, that's okay, just try somewhere else. If you're worried about dog hair in your food, the kitchen is well away from where the dogs are, and this probably isn't your kind of place anyway. Let us have our little slice of happy, please haha! And if you're going to bring your dog, be responsible and make sure it's friendly towards other dogs, well trained, and you clean up after it. Since this place switched management we tried the food and we're pretty happy with it. I'm not a huge burger fan but I took a bite of my husband's and was actually impressed. It was cooked medium-well like he requested but plenty juicy and full of flavor. I wouldn't say this is a place you go to specifically for the food. More like you want something close by or you're there drinking and suddenly hungry. Nothin' wrong with that. With warmer weather coming and hibernation ending, we'll be by more often. read more
