What a heavenly combo that was! I took the time to slowly savour each sip. They're not just about coffee, despite the name. The Jasmine loose leaf tea is very fragrant and provides a very nice alternative to those who prefer tea. Feeling a bit hungry, I added an almond croissant produced by a local bakery nearby. I love how this indie is supporting his own local businesses. Better yet, the croissant was sooooo nice right to the last bite....and of course, I scraped up all the crumbs and enjoyed that just as much. I had a cortado with beautiful notes of jasmine and stone fruit, and then took a Geisha drip coffee to go. Both were delicate, clean, and incredibly well-balanced. The baristas were also so knowledgeable and genuinely helpful. They took the time to walk me through their beans and helped me choose something that matched what I was looking for. It felt thoughtful without being pretentious, which I really appreciated. They seem to specialize in lighter roasts, which can be difficult to execute well, especially as espresso. It is easy for light roast espresso to come across too sharp, sour, or overly intense, but Yuan's coffee was nuanced, floral, and smooth. You can tell there is a lot of skill behind the bar. This place truly feels like a treasure and a local gem. I am honestly shocked more people are not frequenting it. They told us to go to Havana restaurant down the street to use that restaurant's washroom. Felt weird going to another place to ask to use the washroom. I never thought a coffee shop wouldn't have a washroom for their customers. Maybe there was an issue, if they had a washroom but I didn't see anywhere you could go, to go to a washroom.
