Chase (manager) gave my wife a card with free oil change 100% discount on next oil change cause they couldn't change her oil at the time she took her car in. So we had it changed at VW dealership. Back in October 2019 when I went to get the oil change the next time I was told at the King's Hwy store that Chase left the Kings Hwy store and was at the Youree Dr store. So after driving to the Youree Drive store and speaking to Chase and him beating around the bush, he was supposed to call us back and never did after speaking to him at the youree store. When I picked it up, the brakes were worse than before--there was a loud metal grinding noise, the brake response felt unsafe, and the steering was suddenly off. None of these issues existed prior to the visit, and notably, Mavis made no mention of any other problems when they returned the car to me. I brought it back and was told--by the receptionist, not a mechanic--that the issue was my lower control arm. This was never mentioned during the original visit. When I asked for clarification or to speak with a manager, the receptionist became rude and refused to connect me with anyone else. I took the car to a trusted local garage, where they diagnosed the control arm issue and had to completely redo the brake job that Mavis had botched. I ended up paying twice--once for Mavis to make things worse, and again to get it fixed correctly. Despite all this, Mavis is refusing to fully refund me. They keep pointing to their "lifetime warranty" on the brake pads and rotors--as if I would ever trust them with my vehicle again. And if you get to the point of dealing with the regional manager, Don Harrison (737-389-6979), don't expect much. He either dodges your calls or talks down to you--especially if you're a woman. I was helped by a young man named Leland and his supervisor, Al, and they were both excellent. Even though I only requested an oil change, they took the initiative to check my air filter and cabin filter to make sure everything was in good condition. They told me, "Better safe than sorry," and I appreciated that level of care. Both of them were extremely professional, efficient, and respectful of my time. As a paralegal who works with many other paralegals, clerks, judges, and attorneys -- all of whom are constantly pressed for time -- I will definitely be recommending this location. When she told me that I had a burned out brake light, I thought "Uh-oh, here comes the adder! Shame on me, I was just charged for the price of the bulb (no "installation cost"). I can highly recommend Broadmoor Garage - at least for state inspections - but I suspect that that level of service and efficiency can be found throughout the organization. I called Yokem Toyota to see how much it would cost to get the same thing done there, and they quoted me $403.49 to the penny. I'm from Texas and I've never been to a local shop that costs MORE than the DEALERSHIP. By no means am I saying to not go here, but definitely be careful if you're not trying to get scammed. It seems like they just make random numbers up off the top of their heads, then adjust it later if customers gets upset. I contacted customer care, and a representative tried calling the store location twice to send someone out. They couldn't get anyone to answer, and I was told this was basically all that could be done unless I could manage to drive back to the store. With the state of my car at that moment, I was not able to do that safely. However, being stuck on the side of the road as a single woman (and in 100 degree heat), I was not much safer. Having no other option, I eventually figured out how to get it tucked back into place to stay on long enough to make it back to the store. I was able to open a claim beforehand so that the repair would be covered. I was very thankful that they were able to fix it at no cost to me, but again, this was a careless mistake that could have caused significant damage to my vehicle and should not have occurred in the first place. Very disappointing to pay that much money and still be found in such a predicament.
