I ate here all the time when I was in Lisbon. If you've been to NY's Chelsea Market or Eataly - it's similar in concept with hip/up and coming food stalls. I think the prices are similar to what you'd see on a restaurant's menu and not what you would normally associate with "food court" but the quality is amazing. Seating may be hard to find so I'd recommend splitting up and having one person order and the other scout for seats if possible. The venue is also very clean for the size and how many people it accommodates. read more

This was a great, fun food stop! It's like a very fancy food court, with quality offerings, actual dishes and wine glasses used, and a chance to try all kinds of different things as well as shop for uniquely Portuguese items, both food and crafts. I tried a ham and cheese toast, a steak, some tempura fried green beans with an excellent garlicky sauce, and a fancy custard dessert with gooseberries. There was seafood pasta, hamburgers, Asian food, appetizers, a multitude of delicious looking desserts, lots of Portuguese food, etc. You sit at communal tables, so you get a chance to check out other people's food as well. Fancy food court, convenient and has a little bit of everything you'll find in Lisbon. This place is great if you're Lisbon for a few days and need to get acquainted fast on the delicious food options. You can easily see what looks good, what options you might have and surprisingly, it's beautifully plated. I went to Tartaria for tartar. Thinking I would just get a plate of raw meat, it came with a side of arugula salad, cream spread, bread and capers. It was lovely and at about $10 USD, quite a bargain for a quality dish. This market was included on a food tour I took - but, separately went back for lunch on Sunday (when much of the rest of Lisbon shuts down). On one side - you can see the fish, vegetables and produce of Lisbon where restaurants and individuals come to get the best. The other side is a food court - including several mini restaurants from Michelin starred chefs. Great place to try the local flavors with a bottle of beer or glass of wine, with lots of communal sitting in the middle. this is an awesome food hall highlighting the flavors of Lisbon. yes, prices aren't the cheapest, but considering how cheaply we were eating and drinking the rest of the trip, it was neat to splurge on some tastes from upscale/curated vendors (as much as I hate using the word "curated" with relation to food). there's so many restaurants and kiosks that you will need multiple trips to just begin to scratch the surface of what's there. couple of stores and local merchants selling neat gifts as well. can be crowded, but there's a pretty reliable turnover of seats to balance this out. still, having one person grab a spot while the other gets food worked out well for us. and of course there's a bar! or actually, several. the wine bar staff were quite friendly and plied me with samples at one point while I was trying to determine what our wines would be that night. read more

It can feel a little overwhelming when you first walk in there with so many options. It's good to research before and have an idea of what you want to try before getting there. This is a can't-miss kind of place if you're visiting Lisbon. We liked it so much we ended up going there 3 times and watching a world cup game there. Everything we ate was fantastic although it is a bit pricier than what you would pay in local joints but it gives you an opportunity try a lot of different things in the same meal. When we came for lunch on a weekday we didn't have much trouble finding seats but on Friday evening it was packed so we ended up standing at a bar and eating. My favorite vendors were Marlene Vieiera (we had the daily specials), Manteigaria Silva (meats and cheeses), and Manteigaria Pastel de Natas. I also ordered a cake from Nos E Mais Bolos and the woman behind the counter was not friendly. She didn't smile once the entire time I was interacting with her and when I asked what type of cake something was (they did not have labels or descriptions that day) she seemed annoyed and just responded "chocolate." The way she spoke to me honestly made me want to walk away from the the place completely but she had also made me feel guilty for asking her questions and I didn't want to piss her off by not buying anything. The cake was meh, so I wish I had walked away. Still warrants 4 stars overall and the service in every other booth was superb. read more

The market is across the street from Cais do Sodre, very convenient to those using the Metro (end of Green Line), the train (the one to Cascais) and Tram 15 (the one to Belem). Prices aren't the lowest, but you can easily find a full meal for €10-15. Or better yet, snack around all the booths. And it comes with free wifi and bathroom access. The food in general is of fancier quality than your typical local food. The taste is more complex. A lot of fusion/modern take on Portuguese food. I enjoyed my 2 meals here. I had a fabulous duck gizzard confit one day, and an excellent braised pork cheek another. Both were about €7.5-8.0 and more of an appetizer. The BBQ wings snack for €2.50 was a bargin. And the Offley porto cocktail stand had the most complicated punch for €3 (complicated as in the guy took alot of effort to make, and it tasted good and refreshing - looked alot more expensive than €3) Overall this is a great spot to stop by for a quick bite, especially if you are looking for a mix of new food and old standby (ex. burger, sushi & pizza) - AND the Santini Gelados has a stand here! read more

So this is what I think my city (Manchester) really needs. I loved this place so much. Although we only went once, we ate a lot of food, drank a lot of wine and cocktails, and had a really great time. I can't remember the name of any of the vendors (sorry!) but we ate: - Cod fish goujons (I can't remember if they were called goujons or fritters or something else but you get the idea) . These were delicious and the cod was cooked to perfection. - Sushi and sashimi. The salmon in particular was so delicious and fresh, I could have eaten it forever. - Stewed octopus. This was the stand out for me. I've had octopus before but honestly been a bit underwhelmed by taste and texture, but this was a whole new world. It was cooked in a delicious broth with sweet potatoes. I could eat this again right now. - Oysters. I'd never had oysters before so it was nice to try something new. It was okay. It tasted of the sea, and little else. - Steak tartar. This was weird because it came with 'potato foam'. I was told it was 'almost famous potato foam'. It didn't taste bad but I'm just not convinced that I want a foamed potato. The tartar itself was really good though. - Duck balls with orange dip. The dip was a bit like marmalade. These were also excellent. - Oreo pie and lemon meringue pie. Both as delicious as they sound. As well as the food being incredible, the atmosphere was also so nice. On a Saturday night it was buzzing and there was a great mix of people there: couples, families including elderly relatives and kids, big groups of friends, people grabbing a quick bite on their own. All of the staff at the food stalls were so friendly as well. Overall I'm not quite sure how this could be replicated in Manchester but it really needs to be. read more

Cool spot; a collection of handpicked vendors by Time Out. So, they are supposed to be really good. The ambiance is very energetic and feels a bit out of Lisboa. It's like finding a parking in NYC. You have to find people who are almost done and wait by their table to see if you can grab it once they leave, which was a bit annoying. LOVE this place. I came here twice while I was in Lisbon and had a great experience both times. This is the most organized "food stall" market that I've ever been to. Located in a warehouse-looking building, the place is lined with food stalls as well as a farmers market. I didn't really get to check out the farmer's market, but the produce looked very fresh when I briefly took a look. There is a wide variety of food available here. There is a couple of "chef's selection" booths on one side, which is where we got all of our food. However, if you are not feeling Portugese food, I also saw a bunch of asian inspired stalls where you can get a wide variety of food such as sushi or Thai. You can also get portugese egg tarts at the Manteigaria stall!! Personally, I like Manteigaria better than Pasteis de Belem, so I highly encourage everyone to get their egg tarts here or at the actual Manteigaria bakery. My bf and I ate five different dishes here from 4 different chef's selection stalls. Overall, I was very impressed with the food, though there were some hits and misses. We ordered the following: -An octopus dish (don't remember the official name): the octopus was perfectly chewy. All the flavors of the dish worked well together. -Black risotto w/ scallops & seaweed: this is probably the most interesting dish I had in Lisbon. The risotto was jet black and people around me were asking what I was eating. Someone thought it was pig's blood haha The flavors were very unique - I would have never thought to add seaweed to risotto but it totally worked! However, the risotto was kinda hard (I think it might have been on purpose) because it makes me feel like I'm eating uncooked rice. -Peri peri chicken: the chicken was a bit dry. The flavors were very good but I would have preferred the chicken to be more juicy. -Seafood risotto w/ swordfish:Yum!! Risotto was cooked perfectly and flavorful. The swordfish was tender and delicious. -Codfish tempura: the cod tasted decent but nothing special. I really liked the sauce that came with it though. I also had a couple glasses of rose. Pretty cheap (around $4 a glass) and was very good! The only con of this market is that it can get VERY crowded. You may have to wait in a long line to order your food, and it can be tough to find a seat. I love this place (echoing Sarah O.) and I love this concept. This market is adjacent to a more traditional (think: produce and aisles of meat and fresh-from-the-sea sardines) market. The basic concept at the Time Out market is: stalls filled with some of Lisbon's finest prepared food. Here you can get fresh smoothies, delicious almond cakes, crepes, a wide selection of croquettes (I tried the "traditional" mixed meat, cuttlefish and tuna, with a side of garlic mayo), "American-style" burgers and sushi. Prices are good, with "mains" in the 8 - 11 euro range. In the middle of the hall is a wine stall, as well as a fierce bartender mixing up some equally fierce cocktails. At 7 euro (ish) a pop these are delicious combos of herbs and fruit purees and, well...booze. After a day schlepping around Lisbon they were perfectly refreshing (a basil passion fruit combo particularly hit the spot). Several of the stalls skew towards some more traditional offerings. But, with a gourmet twist. Cod is olive oil-poached and topped with some truffle oil (it was a little too oily for me, in fact, but I appreciated the effort). Little meat pies (I'm sure there's a name for them?) with a perfectly seasoned filling. Sizzling garlic shrimp. My hands-down favourite dishes (we returned 4 times to this market at various points in the day) were the seafood tartares. Salmon with avocado and creme fraiche and tiny crunch from wasabi peas was SO ON POINT we had it thrice! Tuna tartare with ginger and sesame? Equally divine. With two sizes on offer, where's the risk? None. Deliciously ZERO risk eating. Clean, convenient, fast, good buzz. This is a fantastic concept showcasing some of the best bites around Lisbon. Yelp note: our AirBNB was not far from here, so we also picked up some nuts and dried fruit from a stall, alongside some *amazing* fresh organic strawberries for breakfast here. Note, too, that there are a few other types of stalls surrounding. A Portuguese (for lack of a better term) tourist shop with assorted goods. And an outpost of the cannery located in the centre of town, for all of your tinned fish needs! read more

We absolutely loved this place. This came recommended by yellow tour bus guy and we were not disappointed. Time out has a very big selection of different food stalls, provided by different companies..which means that if you feel like having some hamburger and your partner would like to have some sushi..no worries..you can have both and enjoy the dinner together. The concept is easy - you go to your chosen stall, order food, drinks and sometimes you get it right away or sometimes you get a buzzer..which will let you know when your food is ready for pick up. The prices are average..it is not the cheapest place..but I have to say that I had a delicious meal on the first day with 3 or 4 croquettes, some potato chips and wine for 6 or 7 euro.
