There's a wide choice of food and it's fun walking around trying to find the best one. I had a risotto, red wine and a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream which was absolutely delicious. I stopped for lunch the family. We first heard about it on a Netflix show called Feed Phil. As shown, the huge amount of selections were amazing. There are many establishments in this market setting. This place sets itself apart by attracting chefs / artisans that pride themselves in high quality foods. We stopped at one place and had some classic Portuguese beef and pork (with a twist) and quinoa salad. We also had amazing tastings elsewhere in the market. Great little market to experience the Lisbon food scene, with lots of seafood, rice, tapas options, and of course, wine! We walked around in circles because there were so many options! We ordered an octopus paella and another paella daily special with some ciders. Both were very tasty and fresh, although slightly overpriced for local standards. Stumbled on this place by accident and it was a great find!!! It's similar to Union Market in DC or Chelsea Market in NYC only better (and much better designed). This is a food hall with tons of high end food and drink places by really good Lisbon chefs! If you go on a weekend there is also more of a farmer's market with fresh produce in another area. There are tons of options - seafood, pizza, chinese, tacos, meat & cheese, juice bar, ice cream, pasteries etc. There are also wine and beer bars in the center. It's really fun to try things from a few different places. It does get really crowded so be prepared. It's much more enjoyable earlier. The first time I stopped by around 11am and there were plenty of seats and people were still enjoying their wine :) read more

In an older building, this place is a visitors dream. It has almost everything you'd want inside including delicious food, plenty of drinking options, a farmer's market and fresh meats. There only thing this needs a bit more of is shops to buy curated gifts. There is one shop but nothing else. For food, you really gotta come a couple times to truly try a good selection. The tartare place was delicious. Charcuterie was also fantastic. There are two croquette places, one near the middle that had three selections with the pepper one the best. There is also one just outside the main building in a corner, they offer six selections. Both places in my opinion are equally good. Look up before you go as you might be overwhelmed with the selection. There is also one baby high chair. If it's not used and returned it is located on the north end on whether side where the trays are returned. read more

Except I think this is larger, and better! Pro tip - along the back wall of the market you'll see a row of modest stalls with peoples' names on them. Those are names of Michelin Star chefs from around the city. Go towards that wall. Get everything!!! You can get a sampling of their menus for helllllla cheap. Like duck confit for 13 euros cheap (which it was I had. It was unreal). Happy wallet, happy tummy. What more can you ask for? read more

Yes, there are lots of tourists here, and yes, you can still make touristy decisions here, but you can also have the best food in the city. Will keep it simple and to the point....my girlfriend and I ate here for most of our meals during our first trip to Lisbon. We tried other highly ranked restaurants (with much higher price points) and some other random places, but simply put we loved the ability to try different items from different restaurants located at Time Out during a single meal. Everything was first class in quality, preparation, and taste. It was my first recommendation when one of my friends had an overnight layover in Lisbon when flying back to the States and he completely echoed the food and ambiance after having enjoyed the food at Time Out. You also get so much value between the quality and the price. Next time in Lisbon, I have no problem in saying I will be back and potentially may eat every single meal there. Erm, maybe it's just the food I got but I found this place to be a wee bit overrated. Well, our tour guide also told us it was overrated as well (he's a Portuguese native) so yeah, at least I'm doing something right. We were on a time crunch, so my friends and I were barely able to squeeze this in as a last night dinner in town. There was a pizza stall at the market our hostel staff recommended, but honestly, as a born and bred New Yorker (birthplace of amazing pizza), am I really going to come all the way to Lisbon just to eat that? NO. My friends and I checked out one of the seafood stalls (I forgot the name, it was a long day so my memory was shot) but it was the one where they had the bombass octopus salad. It tasted like ceviche and it was so soft and fresh and chewy. I loved it. I also got the seafood risotto but I wasn't a fan of it. Way too salty for my likings. Their banana chocolate cake was bananas though! And Portuguese people are just so sweet and friendly in general. Oh, and if you want seating here, make sure you have someone watching out for you. We were somehow able to snag four seats (two by two) by an amazing stroke of luck, but if anything you can always have one of your friends watch your stuff while you go order food. read more

We had a really hard time finding anything original (the asian place had two choices for main course and those were pad thai and chow mein) that wasn't overpriced. We settled for burgers in the end. The burger place is a bit like burger bar. Burger+fries+pepsi=17 euros The small burger tasted good but 7 hours later I experienced the absolute worst food poisoning in years. My friend as well. Totally wrecked our short stay in Lisbon. What's worse is I found more reviews claiming they got really bad food poisoning going back at least 4-5 months. Go to a REAL restaurant, cook, ANYTHING BUT TIME OUT! Sitting in an overcrowded hall reminiscent of an overfilled pig pen is one thing. Paying 17 euros for a quick meal, I can get over that. I'm on holiday after all. But an upmarket eatery that has won prizes and does not miss a single opportunity to boast about it's own grandeur that ends up poisoning me, THAT, I won't stand for. We came for a quick brunch and picked up some delicious strawberries and muesli and came back at lunch for an excellent meal of fried sardines, sirloin steak, an amazing chickpea salad and great gin & tonics. On my visit to Lisbon, this was at the top of my list to visit, as I really wanted to have good cod, and why not have it from a Michelin-star chef? I got that and so much more. I stuck to the 5 spots at the very far end of the food hall, as i knew that they were the Michelin start chefs. I had the cod from one vendor, rice from another, pie from another. Everything was incredible and i would come back in a heartbeat if I were to return to Lisbon. One caveat: Go at night (after 9), as it's insanely busy and tough to find a table at any other point.
