She also pre-ordered the blueberry pie for dessert as she said she was hungry. The appetizer comprised 4 pieces and some marinara sauce. Tasted great, but, not much for $9. I ordered a flight of 4 beers, as I was unfamiliar with the Sea Dog brews. Good craft beer, but only one of the four aligned with my personal tastes. While I didn't love any of them, they were all fine samples. I'm just not sure which I would want to order in a full glass. For my meal, I ordered the Shepherds Pie Burger. Wow. Didn't look too big, but it was filling and tasted great. Cooked perfectly. The server brought my wife's blueberry pie, and it was everything she hoped for. Most blueberry pies these days seem to be filled with jam/jelly and a few blueberries. But this time the distinctive Maine blueberries poured out of the crust after she cut into it.she said it tasted great. My appetite kicked in and I ordered the chocolate chip cookie sundae. Nice big scoop of vanilla ice cream, with chocolate sauce on top of a giant cookie. I could not finish it; took the cookie home. Tasted great at home later in the evening. Great service and food. The beer was good; it just didn't align with my preference. I like dark red or brown malty ales. Tastes differ, so, I'm not complaining about the beer. We should all try something different once in a while. If you find yourself in the Scarborough, MA area, you can't go wrong with the Sea Dog.

I got the berry salad with grilled chicken and my fiancé got the Greek salad with grilled chicken. They both had very generous portions of everything in it. We had to take half home so I will be happy to eat it again.

We also had the burger which was juicy and had great grill flavor. The service was great & fast. It's a nice feeling tavern with tv's all around. 3/3 on visits. I give them 9.5 out of 10.

I noticed…read morethis tavern due to their outdoor lighting and saw they had quite a few people eating inside and in the outdoor seating area. Lucky for me they had a special listed that night of something I had been craving for. A nice slice of Prime rib roast! I knew I was taking a risk since we had just arrived before dinner service was ending but we were greeted by the waitress who said the rib roast was still available. My husband had their Parmesan Crusted Haddock with a pretty decent looking Garden salad and Sweet potato fries. I asked if it was possible to get a piece of prime rib medium rare and they made it happen. Their sides of mashed potatoes and spears of broccoli was very generous and tasted delicious. The rib roast was moist and tender with a nice container filled with Au jus. The dining room area was practically empty so we had the space almost to ourselves. We happily inhaled our food and were given a nice period of privacy. 3 large screen TVs were on in this area so my husband enjoyed watching some games he had missed. The rib roast was just right and was very delicious. The setting is comfortable and a bit dark but the food presented was a real treat. It seems they are the hang out place of many locals and I can see why. You don't expect it but the outdoor seating area also includes a fire pit to enjoy on these cool nights. I can see why many locals and guests return. The wait staff attendant was busy cleaning tables and finishing up for the evening and looked in on us a couple of times only towards the end of our meal. Not as attentive as say other establishments but then again she looked like she was covering jobs of more than one person. Service can be affected in this regard but I'm not going to ding her for doing double duty and working so hard. The bar area looked well stocked and was attended by at least a couple of bar staff. The clientele looked like locals mixed with some who came from the nearby hotels in the area like us. The gatherings looked friendly and just enjoying time together. The outdoor seating area is well lit with a very nice seating area around a fire pit. Their listed specials looked very tempting and I'm just glad I got my hunk of prime rib to enjoy. Nicely done Coppersmith Tavern.

Several more visits since my last review…read more Some things haven't changed: -- The beers are still great. Swish, Here's to Feeling Good All the Time, Nothing Gold, and Reciprocal are a formidable foursome. At any given time, you can usually get at least two, more often three, sometimes all four. -- You'd be hard pressed (pun intended) to find a better smashburger in Portland, but I'd also put it up against any regularly-offered burger I've had in Portland--smashed or otherwise. I love everything about it, from the high caliber of the beef to the fresh pillowy milk bun to the exhilaratingly strong cure of the bacon to the razor-thin cutting of the vegetables to the execution that gets even a smashburger burger juicy. -- I'm still not crazy about the wings. They have a frozen dinner feel to them. A few things, though, have changed: -- Full service now instead of having to order everything at the bar. That's a plus. -- The place is much more crowded-- including screaming tykes-- on the weekends. Not a plus, but can't fault a place for its own popularity. -- The fries are now the industrial strength coated kind. A big minus and a sad drop off from prior greatness, but better that than from an item off the main cast. -- You can now order beer cans to go from the table rather than having to get in line. A nice convenience. A few things to know: -- It's a surprisingly good option for vegetarians and pescatarians. The veggie burger and the grilled fish sandwich are both much more than solid. -- There's outdoor seating in front of the building and also to the right. -- The bar room to the right of the entrance is adults only, so if those screaming tykes get on your nerves, this is the place to be. -- You can still order beer at the bar if that's your preference over table service. Still a favorite, and the combo of beer, food, and space is tough to beat (Mast Landing and Maine Beer in Freeport are also somewhere in that echelon).

As an IPA fan I enjoyed this new version very much for its hop saturated citrusy forward taste that drank quite smooth for the 9.5%. At this point now Bissell is broken into two separate parts. The first will be the space welcoming to families and is more of their restaurant style area. Appeared to be a popular area and does offer reservations. My preferred area is the Bissell Garden as they call it. Those entering need to be of drinking age and have more lounge vibes where you order at the bar. It still offers full kitchen menu so is perfect. Particularly my favorite is snagging bar stools to grab some beers and food. I had to try out the Super Swish while my wife grabbed their red ale named Turnpike. Then food wise we split their kitchen special Classic Poutine. Some of the best classic kept simple poutine I have had. The perfect comfort food for yet another cold weather day in Maine. Have been impressed by all the food from Bissell. Truly the only negative still stands being the fact it's on Thompson's Point and required paid parking (not Bissell Brothers call but still). One of the most popular Maine breweries for a reason especially in the IPA game. Give all their other style of beers a try too though, top notch brewery!
