I was pumped to realize they share a parking lot with Palace Diner and Sacred Profane, so I knew where to go and didn't have to pay for parking! We had the Frito pie appetizer which was very good. I love all my food extremely hot, because I take a while to eat, so I do think the Frito pie could have been bubbling, especially since it was served in a baby cast iron skillet. To drink I had what was essentially a margarita, which was solid. My husband had a maple bourbon cocktail and enjoyed it. For our main, we shared the tray for 2, which was more than we could eat, at least after the Frito pie. I liked the brisket, ribs, and Mac and cheese the most. The cole slaw needs more flavor/sauce but feels like a healthy slaw as is. The service was OK. There was 1 waiter for the whole place and he had 6 tables at one point. He was very friendly and offered suggestions. We will return because my husband wants to try a sandwich. I'm not sure what I will get, but the menu has a lot of really good options, including vegetarian barbecue options like tofu and seitan, so there's something for everyone.

Ordered a mushroom, onion Swiss medium rare. They changed their fries and they were GREAT! This is why I choose Cow Bell over The Mill because the Mills fries are soggy and often just warm. The burger at Cow Bell was over cooked at medium well and the mushroom onion topping was not only Luke warm, looked and tasted like it was leftover from the previous day. I had another beer, and Allagash White; again not as cold as I think a beer should be. I've had the steak tips with veg and mashed potatoes here before and they're always good - think I'll stick with that next time. Ambiance like most bars, sports on the TVs. Did chat with a nice gentleman sitting next to me.

Also $50 for a "fisherman's platter" that wasn't anything above the norm especially the portion size. It was a pretty busy Sat evening, for sure. Only one size of pizza....all large. Pizza orders of 8, 4 and 5 were pumping out the kitchen! Three workers and one register clerk made up the staff. There are 4 small tables and chairs if you want to eat-in, as well. When our order finally came out, I was a bit hesitant. I am a fan of lightly cooked and no bubbles. The pizza, when it was being cut, looked charred up a bit and had a bubble or two. As I walked to the car, I was not very confident that things would turn out the way they did. When we each started to eat the pizza, we were both thrilled with everything.....crust, cheese, overall taste and cook-style! The veggie was "delicious" and the cheese pizza was in the Louie's class (Woburn, MA). Boy, were we happy! The price was a little high but very well worth it. You get what you pay for! Had an awesome time at Champions Sports Bar! The vibe was great -- relaxed, lively, and exactly what you want in a local spot. Drinks were cold, service was solid, and the place had a good energy all around. To top it off, some local sitting next to me ditched out on his bar tab, which turned into a hilarious little moment that had the whole place buzzing. It took an exceptionally long time to get the food. When I went up to order a refill on by drink, the bartender said "Your food has been done". My buzzer never went off. We determined it had malfunctioned. I get that they are super busy back there, but for the amount of time that had passed, I would have expected someone to at least holler over to let us know we should come get our food, rather than let it sit there and get cold. Keeping in mind that it had been sitting for a while, it wasn't bad. The wing sauce didn't really stick to the meat, rather just puddled up in the basket, but if you rolled them around in the sauce, the flavor itself was good. The tacos were bigger and more filling than I ever thought they'd be. I'd get those again. The star of the show were the deep friend raspberry cheesecake chimis. SO GOOD! I've actually craved them to a point where I may go back to the bar just to eat those! LOL Other than the buzzer issue, we had a great time at Skip's that night. There was a band playing and still no cover charge was paid at the door. We had a fun night of food, drinks, and dancing. I'd definitely return.
