Overall Experience…read more We recently visited the new Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, TX, and had an amazing experience. We planned a one-day park visit, arriving the evening before and checking out the next day. For our family, this was the perfect amount of time. We drove from Houston with three children under six, and the five-and-a-half-hour drive was manageable. Staying the night before made a huge difference, we started the day relaxed instead of rushing to the park. Universal designed this resort exactly as advertised--for younger children. If you're expecting the size and thrill rides of Universal Orlando, you'll probably be disappointed. But if you have kids under 10, especially preschool and elementary-aged children, this place is perfect. Everything is intentionally designed around younger families, making it fun without being overwhelming. Staying at the Hotel The biggest perk of staying on-site is the one-hour early park admission. Another major benefit was being able to walk back to the room for midday naps. Anyone with little ones knows how valuable that is. After a short rest, everyone was refreshed and ready to enjoy the rest of the day. That convenience alone made staying on-site worth it. Park Tips Head straight to the water tube lazy river during early admission. There was virtually no wait, but once the park opened to general admission, it became one of the longest lines in the park. The park isn't very large, which is actually one of its strengths. We visited on a weekday, and most rides had minimal waits. We comfortably experienced everything in one day without feeling rushed. For families with younger children, one day is ideal. Weather The park has limited shade, so bring sunscreen, hats, and stay hydrated. We were fortunate to visit on an overcast day, but the Texas sun could make for a much different experience. Food & Dining The hotel's Curiosity Café exceeded our expectations. Breakfast included delicious egg sandwiches, while lunch offered kid-friendly favorites like pizza and pasta alongside options such as ahi tuna salads. Everything was flavorful, portions were generous, and prices felt very reasonable for a resort. Hotel Room Our room was compact but worked well for our family of five. It included one queen bed and a bunk bed. The bottom bunk was wide enough for two kids, and the top bunk was spacious enough that our children loved sleeping "up high." The hotel itself is bright, colorful, and beautifully themed. Each floor features different Universal characters, and the rooms feel like a fun little playhouse that our kids absolutely loved. Customer Service The service was the biggest surprise of the trip. From check-in to checkout, every team member we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. Security, hotel staff, ride attendants, store employees, pool staff, everyone smiled, greeted us, waved to our kids, or asked if we needed anything. That level of hospitality made an already great trip even better. Parking Another advantage of staying on-site was parking. It was less expensive than purchasing day parking, and having the flexibility to come and go throughout our stay was incredibly convenient. Is Staying On-Site Worth It? Could you save money by staying at a nearby hotel? Absolutely. But for families with younger children, staying on-site offers conveniences that are hard to put a price on: early park admission, easy access for naps, simpler parking, and the ability to stay immersed in the vacation without driving back and forth. For us, it was well worth the extra cost. Final Thoughts Overall, I highly recommend Universal Kids Resort for families with children under 10. Universal clearly built this destination with younger kids in mind rather than trying to recreate Orlando. It's colorful, manageable, thoughtfully designed, family-friendly, and surprisingly relaxing. We made wonderful memories with our kids and would absolutely return. If you don't mind being a little wet, there's no reason why you should be hot. The staff is as friendly as everyone else has said in their reviews. There are lots of photographers and lots of free character meet and greets that you can use your own phone to take photos with or have them take the photos. They pop out every half hour or hour so you don't have to worry about missing them. For $35 you can buy a day photo package in which all the photos they take on all of the rides and with all of the character meet and greets are given to you in high-quality digital format for you to download and print on your own. I feel like it was a great value for the money. We had a family suite with a king bed, a queen sleeper sofa, and a set of bunkbeds. It was plenty of room for two moms and two kids. Everything in the room is set up for children to be able to utilize. The bright colors are very fun. Overall, we loved it because our children are six and four. I agree that it is best suited for families with children under 10. I don't think it is worth buying plane tickets and traveling from out of state but definitely if you live in Texas you should check it out. We stayed Wednesday through Friday. Once I politely connected the dots for them, they were quick to offer the upgrade. So shoutout for the recovery, but that little game of upgrade hide and seek was the only blemish on an otherwise solid stay.

There was only one other family there so we had plenty of space. They had umbrellas with lounge chairs. The bar was great they had a walk up window from the pool that we could go. The only issue if you walk up to the bar window from the pool, it's tile floor which gets really slippery and my friend fell down. They should put mats down so it prevents people from falling. Otherwise it was a fun time overall and drinks were to be expected at a hotel bar.

The hotel opened on June 1st, 2026 and I stayed there a few days after it opened. When I checked in, the manager Murad was extremely friendly and informative. It was my first time in Dallas- Murad took that into consideration and was very welcoming. The rooms itself are very modern, with a retro-modern touch. No complaints there. A full-sized retro fridge, a safe, and modern furniture is included. The bed is very comfortable. The bathrooms are very posh. For those that care about A/C, the lowest temp is 68F and there is no Constant Fan option. Some downsides are that parking is valet only, with a hefty $45 price tag per night, although you can find street parking on the side on nights where the hotel is not busy. I also felt like the hotel was out-of-place for its location. The hotel is located in a pretty standard area of Arlington, with a gas station, car dealership, and strip malls nearby. However, the category and feeling (luxury/pretentiousness?) of this hotel gives me Las Vegas strip or West Hollywood/Beverly Hills vibes and doesn't feel right for the neighborhood. Everything feels very expensive at this hotel relative to the area around it. Overall, the hotel is not bad- there isn't something like this around the area, but will see how it performs as time goes on.

For $45+/day they should be reasonably timed waits and nice staff. Seemed to have no training, no supervision, and were not accommodating or respectful of guests. One actually blocked us driving through from another area in the back, then made us wait for him to park after he waited for a car to leave for over 10 minutes. Instead of letting us pass which he could have done. Absolutely deplorable behavior and service. Another area of issues is the charges, AFTER. Never received an itemized bill and the incidentals (valet) I was told were not the same after I left. I tried calling and reached a booking hotline three separate times, they never answered the front desk line or returned an email requesting to be contacted about this. We did not consume any of the overpriced food in the room, even took pictures as they do not have a system that accurately charges for these items. They're just in an oversized fridge in the room. Restaurant was amazing! Food was awesome and totally worth it! Drinks are pricey, a double shot of Tito's was over $30... Pool area was great! Linens are great, shampoo and conditioner were very good, nice bedding BUT the room was HOT at night and never felt like 68 degrees, more like 78. While it's nice, 100% not worth the nightmare of parking and issues with being charged wrong, etc. To date, no one has returned my call or anything. Stay downtown at a true 4-5 star property and avoid the "wannabe" in my opinion.

After 30 minutes of this, I threatened to cancel all three reservations if it was not corrected. 20 minutes later I received a text apologizing that they made a mistake. Fine...whatever, I was willing to let that go. Let's talk about the second day, we left for brunch and when we got back to the hotel we were locked out of our room. The gentleman at the office was very polite but it was 95 degrees outside and he was trying to reach his boss for a new code, he finally just let us in and came back later with a code to reset. A few other things to mention, parking is not gated, bathroom is tiny and downstairs while bedroom is up. Best thing about this hotel is the location. With that said, The Nobleman is right around the corner, nicer, less expensive and so much more professional.
